'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Death Penalty?

Let`s hope the Football Association haven`t been watching events in Egypt, otherwise Eden Hazard could be in real trouble.

This morning, tuning into Sky News, it looks as if the Egyptians have reacted very harshly to a recent riot at a football match by sentencing 21 of those involved to the death penalty!

Bloody hell, I remember Margaret Thatcher and her Sports Minister sidekick Colin Moynihan promising to get tough when our own game was blighted by hooliganism, but that`s tough-tough!

its difficult to comment on this...because as a result of the riot, i think almost 74 people died...soo the riot was quite bloody....would prefer if football is not connected to this kinda gists...one of the most important intent of football is to foster love and build relationships that exists amongst communities not killing people through riots and death sentence hanging round people's neck...strange stuff...may be the world is coming to an end afterall......

I think the courts hands were also tied down,i remember watching Sky news and hearing Al ahly fans warned of bloodshed and retribution if the accused did not receive death sentences. Its a totally different culture to ours so I'm not going to comment too much about it...Its a totally different case to Hazard Merlin,I do understand the point you are trying to make, but its kind of unnecessary. I still stand on my ground that Hazard deserves nothing more than a 3 match ban.

This is not funny. How can we humans be so goddam stupid.... Killing each other is the answer to all bad things happening ??!! Call me pessimist, but i think we deserve to become extinct...

hello , i'm egyptian :) i always read articles here but i never comment , but when i saw this article i thought i could say a word , actually the sentence was pretty good & justice , but the problem is that they sentenced the people who is said to be like "homeless" or something , i can't describe it in english , but the other big people like the security managers for the stadium & so who were said to have given money to the homeless people to kill EL AHLY fans , their judjment has been postponded.

That's what happens when you get a state dept sponsored "Arab spring". A secular dictatorship making way for a fundamentalist democracy.

In my opinion a red card on the day was already harsh enough punishment as i think a yellow card will have sufficed, but the FA in their infinite wisdom are taking Chelsea (not Hazard imo) to task...I cant wait to see what spin they'll put on this one...#whatashambles
