Drogba - Asked to Return to Chelsea!

Several news sources are reporting, ahead of his apparent move to Galatasaray, that Didier Drogba was approached about returning to Stamford Bridge.

One red-top, this morning, carries a back page article that intimates that Didier, with Roman`s approval, was offered a six month contract with the prospect of a further year, at Chelsea.

However, it appears that Didier turned the option down and he now looks set to join the aforementioned Turkish side.

Now whilst it would have been great to see Didier back, I can`t help thinking that, in a way, I`m glad the approach came to nothing. I`m of the opinion that when you`ve left on such a high, there is always the inherent danger of a disappointing second spell sullying the memories of what was a beautiful relationship.

Do you agree or disagree?

agree with you Merlin...Didiers time with Chelsea has now passed so its probably a good thing that this interest came to nothing...Drogba's powers were already on the wane last year and he raised his game in the big ones and won us the UCL....even in the AFCON, he's not starting every game for Cote D'ivoire which would never have happened in the drog days.... Not a small achievement to be voted Greatest Chelsea player of all time for an African player....African Legend, Chelsea Legend!

I Agree...am glad didier did not accept and his legacy is stil well intact..havin seen didier's below par performances in recent matches against egypt, togo and tunisia,i honestly dont think he has much to offer us so its good he averted the danger of a 2nd spell sullyin the memories of what was a beautiful relationship.

Well @ first I was also happy with the approach but we need to move, they should have let him left in the first place.

Drogba loved the way he went out with a bang, if it was the wild west they'll say he rode to the sun or something, he wants his reputation intact and I guess seeing rafa tell him what to do made him want to throw up in disgust

@Desmond..we yanks would say Drogs rode of into the sunset and went out in a blaze of glory. The man is wise beyond his years. What worries me is that our decision makers actually approached him again..Guys that ship has sailed...they should be seeking someone with the potential to step into (note i did not say replace) his massive boots...that should have been done in the summer and should be done in this window..at the very least someone to partner with Ba and hopefully bring out what little value is left in El Nino as a striker. It just strikes me that the decision makers are showing a very alarming lack of ideas to be approaching the Drogs again when they say we are in transition...Move on already!!!

if this rumour is true then it goes a loong way to show just how confused the board is...these are not good signs...Drogba is a wise man...he would not allowed some amateurs put his name in the mud...and he bluntly refused to come bad...fecking legend!....

**to come back...

@gabeu, thank you for that, my western drawl is rusty!!!, got the phrase from westerns like louis lamour and johnstone, on the article again, I think we should go all out to get schurlle and forget about drogs, his time with us is filled with good memories, he should ride into the sunset as gabeu have said.

The man has he's reputation intact. He doesn't need to come before some on ere will start givin in names like e.g 'the guy in #11' #WhataLegend

Cant be any truth to this was it not Didier a couple months back who tried to get approval from Fifa to play for Chelsea just before the Afcon this story does not seem consistent with that.
Anarchy
I definitely agree!! He left on a high, and its better left that way.

This is definitely a crap rumor. That ship has long sailed. There's no way the board approached him with the age reduction policy in effect. We will always remember him as a CFC Legend.
