Butland Given Permission to Talk to Chelsea

Butland Given Permission to Talk to Chelsea

Speculation, regarding the possible signing of the young Birmingham keeper, Jack Butland continues to gather momentum.

Both the leading red-tops this country has to offer are inferring that Chelsea have been given permission to speak to the 19 year-old keeper about personal terms wit Birmingham City having accepted our bid, said to be somewhere between £3 million and £4 million.

It`s inferred that Butland is seen as the long term successor to Petr Cech, possibly also suggesting that our young Belgian keeper, Thibaut Courtois, out on loan at Atletico Madrid, might be bound for elsewhere.

The sudden movement in securing the deal is given foundation by Butland`s agent, Gary Mellor, who is quoted as having remarked,

"Chelsea have been given permission to speak to Jack. At the moment they are the only club who have registered a bid."

The only possible intrusion into a successful deal revolves around satisfying Butland that he`ll not just be back-up to Petr Cech whilst also holding off the interest expressed by other clubs.

And, in this strange transfer window world, later reports infer that the deal has hit a problem with it later being reported that his agent had inferred that Butland had declined talks with Chelsea, fearing that he wouldn`t get regular first team football.

But is that the end of it?

Looks like this young player is so wise for his AGE. If the news are correct he turned down the move to the GRAVEYARD for youngsters.

"Jack's enjoying playing for Birmingham and he is gaining valuable experience," his agent Gary Mellor told BBC Sport. "He will listen to what any club that meets Birmingham's asking price has to say, but playing is of paramount importance for Jack."

apparently no formal bid has been received by Brum so its all media conjecturing at this stage.. http://www.itv.com/sport/football/article/2013-01-30/birmingham-claim-they-havent-received-an-offer-for-butland/

For the sake of his rising career, he should avoid CFC like the plague especially for the 3 million pound price tag. If he cost 20mill then he'd have a chance but at 3, he will probably rot alongside Turnbull.

so then by that logic we should never come accross a 3 million pounds bargain because we are chelsea. what kind of sick logic is that? call yourself a chelsea fan? some posts need to be read twice to see if they really are that silly!

loool @ trueblue...I can kinda see what traykidd means even if he hasnt clarified very well...anyway i doubt if this kid will ever be a chelsea player...or in other words, i'll believe it when i see it!

The truth is that butland is good enough to displace neither peter cech nor thibaut courtois. At best he will play second fiddle to one of them, and he is clearly better (and deserves better) than being a second keeper for us. It will sound like selfishness on our part to want to have three world class goalkeepers in the team with one or two rotting on the bench. #unwise

@trueblue44. I think there is a paradigm shift at chelsea. Moses, cahill, ba, marin, romeu are examples wherein we have bought cheap and smart. Most me then except marin have regular play time.

@ trueblue44 and Blue India. What traykidd probably meant was he will never ever have a real playing chance in final XI. As to replace Cech and Courtois this guy really needs to be better then them, which would make him bit expensive then cech(£25 mill) and Courtois(£14 mill). And Thibaut is only 1 year elder then Butland. So the price gap really does make a diff these days. TALLENT = £. Also you wouldn't play Butland 1. Just to have a £25 mill and £14 mill replacements on bench with £3 mill bargain playing, 2. or sitting Cech on bench and Thibaut out on loan probably at Barca next season(If they hadn't bought him b4 that) !!! All I wanna say is if this guy was really good(better than cech, coutois) he's price would have been bit more acc to todays market. I think its a no-deal, probably just made up rumour. Good Luck for tonight Chelsea and hope we get back on winning ways.

@traykidd I'd say, buy him and loan him back. Imagine what he can do for us in the future. See what courtois have achieved! We bought him for like 7m and he cost AT LEAST around 20 to 30m now. And he's the best prospect ever, being 19 and playing first team in LA LIGA! I can imagine butland doing the same too

He is a good keeper and I wouldn't want to ruin his career...Am happy to see him replacing Curtois or Cech if he is that good.... Otherwise as a backup, I would rather take Paul Robinson who

I dont see any sense in gettin butland if we arent sellin either cech or courtois,if we need a backup i would prefer we go for an experience goalie like shay given to deputise for cech till courtois returns.atleast he is better than what we have in turnbull and hilario

I kinda agree that if we do not buy someone on big money transfer he will rot on the bench like forever.Yes ,there are some examples such as Azpi,Moses,Iva and Cahill but when you come to think of it none of them is a 100% certain starter.Yes,the first three of them will start in 75 per cent of our games and Cahill in 40-50 per cent, but not in all of them like Mata or Hazard when they are healthy. As far as Butland is concerned I have no observations about him,but the guy clearly wants first team football ,so I believe that Craig Gorden will me a much more viable alternative and he will be absolutely free and will not demand a huge salary.I do not know why he has stayed so long for as a free agent because in my view he is one of the top 5 keepers in the UK and it was even rumoured that he would join Manure ,but nothing materialised in the end.Yet a keeper is not our biggest priority as we need a top-notch midfielder because we do not have any for the time being-Ramires is a bad passer,Mikel plays like in slow motion,Lamps is a CAM and stays in that position for 99,9999 per cent of the time while Romeu is injured but he suffers from apparent lack of pace.We need a good destroyer, who is also able to participate well in the build-up of our play and we have restricted options in that position, because such players like that are a rare breed.

This is the absoluted stupidest...dum ass...waste of time...I can't believe it...Why would Chelsea want another young goalie...The only and I mean ONLY rational would be that Courtios will be used as trade bait for Falcoa...Otherwise, what is this organization thinking? Just buying a player hoping that he can be resold in the future at a higher price? Where is he going to play? Loan him out for 5 years and then try to sell him for a profit...Geezz you would think that Chelsea has higher priorities that this....HOW BOUT A ******** CM THAT CAN PASS THE BALL.

@ JohnnyOz, romydee, thanks for the clarification. The sarcasm was kinda obvious; we don't value youth or cheap players despite the endless manifestos broadcast by our dear club. Hopefully there will be a paradigm shift from next season.
