I`m not a great fan of 20:00 hour kick-offs!
After a long day in the office, I find it hard to switch back on and intently focus on what is happening on the field of play. For some strange reason, the fifteen minute difference between 20:00 hours and the usual 19:45 hours kick off; makes all the difference.
But, like you all, I`ll battle on tonight as Chelsea travel down the M4 to take on Reading in a game some reckon has banana-skin written all over it.
As usual we`ll be running our familiar Match Day Moments thread, in which we invite you to participate.
Please feel free to discuss the starting eleven selected by Rafa Benitez, the action a sit unfolds and your views about the performance, at the final whistle.

Let's look at the FACTS -
- We lost the World Club Cup to a Corinthians team that we could and should have beaten.
- We went out of the Capital One Cup with barely a whimper.
- We are 9 points further down in the Premier League than we were when Rafael Benitez was employed. Our league form (including losing at home to QPR and away to West Ham) is worse than the blip that got Di Matteo sacked.
- Baffling tactics including like for like swaps for defenders when we are losing and a complete inability to change the game has become the hallmark of our interim manager.
- Rafael Benitez's win % record so far is one of the worst in the Abramovich era, worse than managers who have previously been sacked by the club.
- More importantly than any of the above, the unity has been lost at the football club. A number of our supporters feel disconnected and disenfranchised from the club that they love to the extent that some have stopped going, whilst the atmosphere at home games has declined.

@nely...our thinking is sooo similar...looool....anyways it does not look like we'll be bringing anybody in this January eccept maybe a weee chance for but-land -, (I love that name, its a lot better than turn-bull..lol..)...makes me both happy and sad...sad bcos the squad is scarily thin as I really want a top 4 finish and dont want us to take unnecesary risks....and of course I am very happy bcos this gives yet the clearest indication to both the fans and tubby that tubby wont be staying beyond the summer (He has probably dusted his cv already looking for that next job) and hopefully the board has started working on an apt replacemment as well as the overall structure of the team...which suggests early preparation for next season and beyond which for me should mark the begining of a new dawn for our club if we do it right...May the good Lord of my forefathers grant us a top three finish (Amen)...I am fully behind the team and our crazy board...I hope they make the right calls.

If Rafa starts Lampard/Ramires in the pivot I would say that there is a good chance that we will lose the game...Sorry but all the opposition has to do is to park the bus, defend and wait for the counter attack...There is no creativity in the midfield and Ramires cant pass the ball. Lampard will be nowhere to be found and will be trying to play the #10 role from the pivot...Same old Same old...lets hope someone from the youth team gets a chance.

Reading will play at high tempo from the first whistle because that is the time we are most vulnerable (Asleep,zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz). All players need a kick up the a** before the game so that we can play at a high tempo. Our midfield needs to pass the ball to BA first time, play direct balls that is the key.

If we fail to win this match and torres' ineffectiveness a big factor, then i would say we sack this muppet and let Mat Holland take charge till end of the season cos its getting obvious that tubby is taking us down. It's easy to say Rafa out and it's his fault but one thing to remember is why we're we not good enough last season? And unfortunately we re still playing those players from last season. Our midfield is dead and our defence is like a bunch of school boys. Cahill is avg at best and that's why he is benched when the others are fully fit, iva is a tragedy ready to explode. Torres always plays the same line and no one picks him up and lampard should play his natural position and lastly whoever sets up the line up at Chelsea needs to hang themselves.

i think the only time i was more *****ed this season was after united cheated theur way to a 3-2 win at the bridge, I am livid. A vastly inferior side, who didnt have a shot till the 80th minute and we dropped points. A horrible day for Oscar too, should have sealed the game.

Pila - spot on mate, with Robbie we had lovely football and the players enjoying themselves. yeah Ok we had a few bad showings, but nothing that some defence coaching couldn't have sorted out. Things were not that bad but now, well Tubby is just making things worse than ever.

We cant base this loss on Oscar's misses. The fact remains that we,as a team couldnt protect a 2goal lead against that rubbish reading team. If we are to argue about Oscar's misses,we could as well argue that,if he had played Marin instead of the clueless Bertrand,we would have scored more. I wont blame Oscar for this LOSS, I will blame Rafa for not being able to handle the team. For goodness sakes,I dont care if he plays 5-3-2 just to get the 3points,the end wld have justified the means!!!! Its is unacceptable! Simply shocking. I find it even more surprising when people come out in support of Rafa.

It is settled that Rafa is leaving in summer. The only thing the team need now is the support of the fan. Let us rally round the team to at least make top 4. The squad is thin but the quality should give us an edge. 9 Vital points we have lost against QPR, Fulham, Southampton and Reading. That should have taken us ahead of ManCity. To think we couldn't call any of the loan players in this transfer is something I could not understand. Turnbull is pathetic. Has he ever got a clean sheet?

Oscar should play in CM with Ramires doing most of the defensive work. Ba should be starting all the games. Torres should only be played out wide. Turnbull should be playing for Brentford.

The board are as bad as rafa and the players are over pampered prima donnas . We really need a very strong manager that won't take ***** from this players. The players are so relaxed that they know the manager will get the blame, 10 out 10 at Chelsea the manager is the scapegoat.

Thank goodness I chose to watch the Copa Del Rey El Classico instead. It was a draw too but it was worth watching. Reals best performance in recent times. Can't wait for the summer.

@3nity,i dont believe rafa has to go now,the problem of our team is well beyond rafa..rafa inherited a knackered squad and he is doin his best to manage them,but unfortunately circumstance has conspired against him and even at that we have not been as terribly off our season goal as people make it seem..certain coach need certain players to execute certain ideas and as it stands our transfer activities has not suggested he is gona get help outside..so even if u sack him this night whats the assurrance the next coach would not be sacked in 3months or so??

@Desmond.....I tot the BA substitution was the biggest howler of the night for a coach who is being paid and who some here say is a tactical genius...yes the team was tired and could not maintain the same energy level for 90 minutes...but a good coach with a decent head over his shoulders will know how to manage that...Tubby brought on BA on the 89 minute, what was the tactical reason behind that..?..may be to waste time!!!!...lol...for me starting torres was a bad decision but i dont wanta go into that cos it can be argued argued either ways... at 2-1, a coach half decent who knew the team was thin and tired would have brought on JT...and switched to a 5-3-2 for the remaining 6 minutes...Rafa is as clueless as a church rat...the most painful part for me was wasting the better part of the past two days arguging with folks like @ken whose God father is Tubby...when I could have used my time for somthing more productive, there is nothing to argue...rafa is clueless and it is obvious as day light....I am actually indifferent as to whether he is sacked now or left till the end of the season...it acutally makes no difference to me....enough said.

Why didn`t we just bring on Merieles or Essien to close the game down ? Oh No. Emenalo our magnificent Technical director, thought getting rid of them and bringing in another attacking midget is what we needed. The day we got rid of those two defensive midfield players, it was obvious what it would be like when we need to close a game down. Its pathetic. Clear off Emenalo and take Benitez with you.
