Terry`s Back and Ready to Force the Issue

Now here`s a poser for you!

Is it a coincidence that our form dipped when John Terry picked up his knee injury against Liverpool, back in November, or is it just me thinking outside the box?

Whatever conclusions you may make about what has gone on, John Terry is now back and restored to the heart of our defence and hopefully we can get back to winning ways.

But, as we prepare to face Reading tonight, JT has a few thoughts he`s shared with the media, remarking,

"Even though it`s great to be back personally, I was disappointed with the game at Brentford because we didn`t fight and they wanted it more. It was disappointing being so lack-lustre after not scoring in two legs against Swansea."

"I`d rather we`d lost 4-0 and given it a go - but we didn`t do that."

"So we need to liven up a bit and realize how important this is to the fans. Last season we suffered with all the extra games involved in winning the Champions League and ended up finishing sixth in the League. But Champions League football is a must for this club next season."

"We`re playing a lot of games and things are difficult. But we have a squad and it`s down to the players to come in and do well when the team is rotated."

"We should be winning games against Brentford and now we`ve made it difficult for ourselves by having to play a replay. It`s another game we could have done without."

It is, but with JT back and ready to drag us out of the current mess we`re in via those extraordinary leadership and motivational skills are we on the cusp of change?

This is one of those hard times you need your leader around to ligthen things up. But we all know there are some pressing issues, even with the presence of JT in the stating 11 would not be solved. Lets not expect miracles from our captain.

If we are to secure a top 3 finish then we must FORFEIT the Europa League. Let the reserves play in Europe and the first team focus on the EPL and the FA Cup. We simply can't eat our cake and have it. We must sacrifice one for the other and so I say feck the Europa League.

No better way to put it than Iva did; “We need every player but especially John,” said Ivanovic. “He is a real warrior and leader of the team, especially as he’s captain. He is a very important player for us and his injury came at a bad time. It has been a very difficult season for him but he’s back now and he will help the team in the future. It’s always better to have him on the pitch, this kind of player who can shout and organise. He can motivate you and every second he supports you. “He does well not just for himself but his team-mates. It is important to have someone like him on the field, we have missed this.”

Nely's absolutely on the money.. JT is a vital cog in our team...you'll see how much our defensive record will improve once he settles back....he's proved it time and time again so for me he has nothing to prove...We just need his solidity, and leadership qualities on the pitch cos i'm sure he was always about in the dressing room even when injured.

Welcome back Captain Marvel. its been awhile. I seriously think that Terry would be a good coach once he hangs his boots and won't mind him starting from our youth academy once he has his coaching badges. THE MEDIA CAN GO TO HHHEELLLLL!!!!

SOME NEWS RE CHELSEA FA WITCH HUNT (BBC News) Eden Hazard: Chelsea contest FA decision on ball boy ban Chelsea have written to the Football Association contesting its attempt to extend Eden Hazard's suspension for kicking out at a Swansea ball boy. The Belgium midfielder, 22, faces a three-match ban for his dismissal, but the FA alleges the standard punishment is "clearly insufficient". Chelsea argue a further game would be excessive and will discover this week whether their challenge has succeeded. They are then entitled to accept or appeal against the FA's ruling. The Blues had no complaints about the red card and automatic ban, but are adamant no further action should follow. Hazard missed Saturday's 2-2 draw at Brentford in the FA Cup fourth round and will not be available for the Premier League games against Newcastle on Saturday and Wigan on 9 February. If an extra match is added to his suspension, he would be ruled out of the replay against Brentford at Stamford Bridge on 17 February. Hazard was sent off in the Capital One Cup semi-final second leg on 23 January after an incident with Charlie Morgan, 17. Play mediaHazard kick 'a mistake' - Benitez He was trying to retrieve the ball from under the ball boy, who had fallen on top of it, in the 78th minute at the Liberty Stadium. The scoreline was 0-0 at the time, with Chelsea needing at least two goals to take the match into extra time. The game ended 0-0 with the Swans going through 2-0 on aggregate. Hazard apologised to the ball boy afterwards, but the FA disciplinary unit deemed his actions worthy of greater punishment. The governing body is thought to be pushing for one more game - it has the power to go higher but that is believed to be unlikely. South Wales Police will be taking no further action despite receiving "a number of calls from members of the public" following the incident. Officers spoke to both Hazard and Morgan - in the presence of his father - after the game. "We can confirm there is no longer any police involvement in this matter," said a spokesman.

@JohnnyOz, i thought he was going to miss brentford, reading and newcastle games(supposing the 3 match stands) but how come he will miss the wigan game too?
darilngblue
@ darlingblue - he will only miss the Wigan game if as expected the Dopey football "authority" decide to ban him for a further game because in their opinion the standard punishment of a 3 game ban is "clearly insufficient"....Baffling stuff
JohnnyOz
It will really take time for him to come great again. It may or may not happen this time round.

Terry is a leader and his leadership is really needed at this time when we need to see players perform to their best
