5 More to Go

These days it really is getting harder to take anything pleasurable from our results.

But this afternoon, up at St James Park, Frank Lampard edged a little close to Bobby Tambling`s Chelsea scoring record when he scored the 197th goal of his Chelsea career ad what a belter it was.

Frank is just 5 behind Tambling`s record and closing in first.

The goal today, also meant that Frank has become the first midfielder, in the Premier League, to score 10 Premier League goals in 10 consecutive seasons. Quite an achievement I think you`ll agree!

Gerrard has more natural ability in his little toe than lampard has overall, but he's a good footballer with a superb ability to get goals. Chelsea would be stupid to let him go but thankfully it looks like they are stupid enough to do just that.

Here we go again..looks like some of us are more concern about him breaking the all time top goalscorer than us winning...the 2nd & 3rd goals were due to his inability to close down on the newcastle players on time

Am not in any position to stop anyone from legend worshipping but surely felt we should be more concern about our poor form and inept Tubby rather than counting Lampard's goals each time he scores

This is an article to underline an achievement being pursued by a club legend, and all some of you do is moan, pathetic. You are fortunate to witness such a player grace the Bridge, and should give credit where its due. People wished they had witnessed Tambling,Osgood or Dixon play, and many of you who were not able to witness them can only read about it from the internet, but its not the same as watching them play. The Upcoming Chelsea fans who are probably unborn might ask you about Lampard and how much of a talent he was, then what would you have to say? Shame on you for calling this Legend worshiping. If Lampard eventually breaks Tamblings record,(which i know he will) it will be forever remembered and you can say i was there and i saw it happen. Super Frank Lampard!!!

No one has indicate here that legend worshipping is a criminal offence,as such am yet to know where the shame on me is actually coming from...his talents are there for the whole world to see,no any living creature in his/her right mind can dispute that(except a simpleton). He's easily my favourite player among our current a football club we have a big problems at hand that needs to be sorted out and fast but not counting Lamps goals each and every time he scores(I need winning and Tubby kicked out more than that)...kindly go back to my match day post about him and you'll agree with that I hope(and gladly so) he stays.

And here we go again, some plastics are just too blind to see the legend that is SuperFrank. He needs to play out the remainder of this season up front just behind Ba. If nothing else, it would keep FT out of the side. It's amazing how every ex-professional pundit, every other fan in the country (and abroad) just cannot believe that Chelsea are about to let Frank's contract go. Model professional (more-so than JT or Cole at our Club) with precious experience to pass onto our Club set up and he will go without a bye or leave from the Board and owner. It just stinks really.

Having watched Bobby Tambling, Kerry Dixon, Osgood, Zola and all the other Chelsea legends since 1965. None of the above players were perfect. Zola couldn`t even head the ball, make a tackle or chase back. But so what. His strengths were immense and we played to his strengths. Lampard is a attacking midfield player, he is being asked to do a job that does not compliment his natural game and yet you get idiots on this site criticising him. Frank is a legend, all his goals have been scored in the top level, many against Champions League opposition, but the greatest thing that he has given Chelsea Football Club in consistency from the first day that he arrived at the club. Our incompetent board just think that is another Frank around the corner to replace him, well just wait and see Roman, there is not. If we hadn`t let all of our defensive midfield players go, without replacing them, Frank would be allowed to play his natural game, not being wasted trying to cover for lesser players, that won`t give us 100% week in week out.

So some of us are more concerned of Lampard scoring remaining 5 goals than winning games. You are right, i would rather see lampard scoring goals as deep lying midfielder than close down opposition before they come back from losing. I mean chelsea will loose 4th spot but lampard will be all time high scorer. How good is that? Scarifices must be made to make lampard top scorer but the objective must be fulfilled.

This article to me is irrelevant merlin, only the unwise would say Lampard hasnt been one of chelsea's better players in the last decade. But sharing another article on it is redundance and quite provocating, especially at a time like this, wouldnt you agree?

Wow, I really envy you sir, Bluehart9, for the opportunity of being able to watch all these wonderful players as I only get to watch Zola and Lampard. To me, Zola is still the best player ever to wear the pride blue jersey, nothing that Lampard does will ever change that. But with this possible record, surely he'll be up there among the greats

I do agree with fv, Oscar needs to play through the middle. I got these strange goose bumps after Oscar scored that brilliant goal against Juventus, and then I said to my son, you are gonna see this boy doing wonders for our Chelsea, maybe better than Lampard did during my time (my son is 5 months old, and I have high hopes that he will turn blue just like us lol). Having said that, Oscar needs to work hard on his finishing, and having Lampard by his side during training will do him wonders. As far as the current season is concerned, the dude in #8 will keep on excites us with his goals given the chance, and it is a pity that we may not see him beyond this season (my son included)
