'If It's Football, It's Vital'

And 2012 Makes if Six!

Although he`s currently nursing a broken little finger, there was some good news for Petr Cech today.

It`s been announced that Petr has been declared the Czech Footballer of the Year for 2012.

In doing so, Cech has now been given this accolade a record six times with his award for 2012 joining those he received in 200, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012.

Quite a haul I think you`ll agree.

Cech is about 32 and have won a lot of accolades except the international medals, the thing with him is that he still have almost 10 more years at top level, which will be good for chelsea fc

Congrats petr,just stay fit,we need u now more than ever

Desmondadonis , I'm pretty sure he can manage to be in the game atleast til 37-38 , not sure if he'll surpass friedel , he's going to have to make way for courtouis in maybe lets say 2 years? I think once he grows older we could use him as a credible 2nd choice if courtois fulfill his potential , he is probably going to have to accept it , anyway Congratulations to possibly the best GK in our history , hope for more CL winning performances petr , we wouldn't have won without you!

While I'm currently happy with Big Pete, I can't help but feel we are heading for a crisis, a "long term" crises between him and Courtois. We can't keep loaning Courtois out, at some point (a year or 2 @ most) he's going to want to know what our plans are. And Barca I bet is watching eagerly....
@Mq
Congrats Big Pete...he just keeps going and is still only 31, very young in GK terms. Btw, a fellow czech player Tomas Kalas (also of cfc) won the young players accolade...so congrats to him too - perhaps he should be getting a look in at chelsea next season

Sooo true Mq. We need Thibaut back and I would recall him very soon to help ease the burden on Cech.

desmond - hes only 30..... n i agree wit @mq we r gonna hve a prob in maybe 1 more yr..there is talk of atletico wantin him for 1 more yr after tat we could loan him to a PL side but he has developed soo quickly tat he would only want to go to a top side... he has already indicated to d club tat he doesnt want to be an understudy. so the club has to decide in d next 1 or 2 yrs either to make cech d 2nd choice GK or to let go of thibaut reluctantly. cech(30 yrs) can be wit us for a maximum of 5-7 yrs but thibaut(20 yrs) can be wit us for d next 10-15 yrs
