'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Why the Delay?

Here at Vital Chelsea, we`ve had the odd poke at the Football Association in the past with the most recent being their shoddy treatment of John Terry.

Last night, tuned into the television coverage of the England v Brazil international, I got quite excited at the prospect of Ashley Cole picking up that golden cap to celebrate his 100th cap.

Sat in that very nice glass case, I was looking forward to seeing Ashley being called forward to collect his award.

But, to my dismay, it was Steven Gerrard they called forward to collect it.

Apparently, there`s a delay before the award is given out, which begs me to ask the question why?

Both players were approaching their 100th cap some time ago. It was obvious that they`d both reach 100 caps, so why didn`t the FA get those display cases all ready, all engraved up, except for the final detail?

That way the award could be given out on the night they picked up their 100th caps, not in the distant future!

Also, further adding insult to injury, the programme for last night didn`t even feature Ashley Cole on the cover; instead it had his greatest rival for the left back spot, Leighton Baines, peering out at those who purchased it.

The word incompetent could spring to mind but the whole experience kind of shows that if those at the top can`t make that extra effort what hope is there for our game!

Sums the FA up beautifully, doesn't it? A shambolic farce! The programme bit could even be interpreted as malicious and spiteful, I certainly wouldn't put that past the FA (getting Cashley back for his Twitter comment). More I see of Woy though, the more I like him; a good Manager and a top bloke, best thing about the FA by a mile!

it did look a bit weird that the only player that was marking his 100th cap day on the day never got any award...but i suppose thats the way it works as Stevie G got his 100th cap in the previous england game but only had his presentation made or does it have something to do with Home/Away fixtures. Even Ronaldinho got an award....? lol Al least the crowds were pleasant towards Ash for a change...

The most important thing that happened on the night was that Cole did got his 100caps and overwhemly appreciated by the whembly faithfuls. That is what people will remember in years to come, not the award.

Simply shows how incompetent/backwards they are and also, how spiteful they are towards him or anything chelsea!!!!! The only reason they let Hazard off was cos there would have been widespread criticism plus the swansea boy was partly at fault. They were ready to hang the boy.

As I said it days ago, england have some talented players, but the incompetence of their FA will make their football at international level redundant, the way they handle stuffs like this shows how indifferent and uninspiring they can be, for a FA that can't do english representatives in the UCL&CWC any favours of rescheduling their game is not a sensible lot, I just hope their incompetence won't ruin the EPL and england's chances of participating in international games to the benefit of the footballing world as a whole
