'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Will He or Won`t He?

It is a tantalizing question that is still doing the rounds!

Will Roman Abramovich do a u-turn and offer Frank Lamaprd a new contract or will Frank be allowed to just clear his locker, come May, and walk away from Stamford Bridge?

Now several of you will, no doubnt, be flinging your heads back and moaning about another Lampard article, but bear with me.

Sat here in the editorial chair, I`m of the opinion that what happens to Frank will be a clear signal of where the club is going.

If Frank is allowed to walk away, it, to me, signals that our club has become a production line, whereby players are treated as commodities that only serve a purpose. When that purpose is fulfilled then they`re dispensed with accordingly.

But, if frank were given another contract, it`d suggest to me that the club recognizes loyalty, rewards loyalty and has set it`s heart on creating a dynasty involving those who have been the heart and soul of our emergence as one of Europe`s top clubs over the last decade.

But, with Frank`s agent, Steve Kutner, remarking about the situation,

"Nothing has changed regarding Frank`s situation at Chelsea."

I fear that the former paragraph could well sum up the way our club us heading!

A production line? Really? The is no entitlement in sports. This is a flip comment. Is there entitlement with the player if ownership wants the player to stay? This is a ******** business.

Nooooooooo - not another article on Lamps loool

Whatever happens would be fine by me, roman owns the club, he should run it the way he deem fit, its his money afterall
Desmondadonis
Well chelsea FC will recognize loyalty and reward loyalty if the Legends accept a bit part role on the field and not moan whenever the manager doesnt play them. I actually want him to be offered a new contract as he has been so loyal to CFC but must be understood that he wont play all games because we need a better CM
cfctoruletheworld
everyone has to go wether its lamps or cole.or terry....dont agree with your commodities remark there were legends before lamps also and they went without making a big fuss...
shlok27
The end of a contract is just that, the end of a contract. Roman will replace Lampard.
foreign_viewer
You can't replace Lampard in a summer.
CalculatedKalou
You can replace Lampard. He's not Messi.

was drogba not a legend?and many who left,no one moaned 4 them.players come and go with time. there are dozen young replacement 4 lamps ie eriksson frm ajax,Dzagoev frm csk moscow etc.so let roman clear the egos and semi deadwoods we have.

I dont get what is expected of we fans here, okay we should sign on another petition calling for Lamps contract be extended. It clearly is off our hands and whether we agree or not that he needs to be kept has little or no impact on the board's decision on the matter.

I'm sure lampard understands his role at the club. Management should offer him a new contract like that of giggs and scholes. Lampard can then decide whether he wants play this lesser role. I'm sure he has no lack of suitors, just offer the amended contract and let him decide.
KingHan
The club is not oblige to offer anybody a contract, football is more than just a game its a business,if the club feel lamps would be useful in achievin set goals then he would be offered a contract if not the club lets him go...
Ken4CFC
Wish I could fast forward this season: let's just get over all these ala Frank's contract issue, Rafa Benites' etc
Ibidayo
@Ibidayo: I feel the same.

I wish we dont offfer him a contract extension. Also, it not that he is irreplaceable legend....Everyone at chelsea is replaceable, maybe except Roman...its hard to find a such passionate, ready to spend owner, one who doesn't just view his club as a business...
