Match Day Moments - Wigan (h)

Match Day Moments - Wigan (h)

If you believe the press, the last time we played Wigan with so much at stake was when we needed to win to win the Premier League title, under Carlo Ancelotti

This time the press is suggesting that Rafa Benitez has to win this fixture to keep his role as the interim manager of Chelsea Football Club with the inference being that a loss will see the axe swung.

Now whether it is true or not we can only wait and see, however if our ambitions of qualifying for the Champions League, next season, are still to be achieved then Wigan, at home, just has to be a must win game.

So why not join us for our usual jamboree of comments relating to the team selection, the tactics deployed and the action itself as an afternoon of drama unfurls at Stamford Bridge.

It could be quite an occasion.

Rafa OUT if we lose to Wigan. Martinez the replacement. Fellaini urges Chelsea to come up with a bid. (Via The Sun). I would rather have Terry/Lamps in player cum manager role rather than Rafa. Anyway lets see how today's game goes. Come on Blues. KTBFFH. And there is no pressure of expectation. It's all gone. Anyway KTBFFH

We have the squad fresh and somewhat big enough to handle this game without complaints. Lets hope the gaffer gets every move spot on and have the blue nation smiling once again. Go Chelsea!

Not sure how i feel about this match. If the rumours are true and rafa loses he gets the boot....now whilst that st fantastic and may save our season...you cant help but feel we need to win every game from here on in...its a toughy lose today and get a manager with a brain but drop out of the top 4. God help us

I'm a fan of Martinez, always manages to motivate his team at the key point in the season whilst playing decent football.

^^^major cause of worry for me is that wigan has not improved under him and are always battling relegation..for the 4-5 seasons in a row now...he seems to be doing just barely enough....look at swansea...look at stoke....I have serious doubt about his overall abilities to make a top club champion stuff....

He hasn't really had any financial backing from Dave Whelan though has he, but when e has look at who he's brought in for peanuts: Al Habsi, Kone, Moses, Beasajour etc. If they showed some ambition I'm sure Martinez could turn them into a top 10 side.

@Blue_Mel Paying 46m PLUS COURTOIS? Must be crazy.. Its either we pay 46m or trade courtois + small amount of money for falcao. But heck no, courtois is ours, there's alot of strikers out there, why falcao..
