Hail Cesar (or Dave)
Although the summer heralded a spending spree with the likes of Oscar, Hazard and Moses arriving, there are many who are championing the arrival of Cesar Azpilicueta as the bargain buy of our summer.
Azpilicueta, nick-named Dave, cost a mere £8 million from Marseille but his performances, so far this season, indicate that it was money very well spent.
On Saturday, as Wigan threatened to be the latest team to make a comeback, it was Cesar who produced some telling surges, down the right flank, to ensure the three points came our way.
After the game, Cesar gave an insight into life at Stamford Bridge in somewhat trying times, remarking to the media,
"It was the first time I have been involved in so many goals."
"It is a good thing to improve and create goals for the team."
"We always pressure. We know we must win every game."
"The confidence in the squad has dropped a little bit but even when they scored, instead of being scared and dropping back, we had a good reaction."
"We know we have to stay in the top four for the stability of the club."
Something tells me those who have trouble pronouncing his name may soon be chanting it with regularity from the stands at Stamford Bridge.
