How the Mighty Have Fallen?

How the Mighty Have Fallen?

Life is tough at the moment.

In the workplace where I earn my corn, I`m surrounded by supporters of several other clubs, but there does seem to be more Spurs fans than those of other clubs.

And boy do they know how to gloat.

You see, although we`re the reigning Champions of Europe, something they can only dream about, they`re giving me major grief.

They`re not letting go of the fact that our failure to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League has left them able to gloat.

Not a moment passes when they don`t fail to remind that this week, whilst Europe`s finest compete in the last sixteen stage, we`re lumbered with having to play on Thursday night, in the Europa League.

How the mighty have fallen they snidely comment!

And it does grate, there`s no doubt about it. Our failure to qualify has hit us hard, midweek European football will never be the same; it feels as if I`ve lost my right arm.

But, before we get all remorseful, is there salvation at the end of this forlorn tunnel?

Can we actually win the damn thing?

Can we silence those jibes from N17?

But wouldn`t it be a wonderful scenario if the draw kept us apart and we were to meet Spurs, in Amsterdam, in the final?

Bring it on is what I say!

This is what happens when you play lots of midgets/play with no steal in the midfield/have players in the pivot who can't pass the ball FIRST TIME/have one striker (BA) in the sqaud/don't give interim manager any money to sign players as you will get rid of in the summer/No quality back up goal keeper/have only 2 wingers (Moses/Hazard) in the squad as you don't like playing Marin cause he can't defend for toffee.

"Midgets" have won two of the last Euros and the World Cup. They will be challenging again next year those migdets.

What the team needed was a striker, other than Torres, and playmaker from the beginning of the season.
11/02/2013 20:38:00
Torres single handedly cost us our UCL downfall and I am sure he'll cause us our UCL qualification if we are not careful. And persist with playing him ahead of Ba

it's fine mate , we are one of the most supported clubs in england but we are by far the most hated( maybe millwall but I think we are) in terms of press , i'm surrounded by liverpool and united fans , making me feel like ***** every time we lose considering liverpool is doing crap. the only fans in my school I like are everton and newcastle. They both are un biased and awesome , i have a soft spot for everton cause the fans aren't knob heads like the other side of merseyside
11/02/2013 21:09:00
I would have sworn his goal took you to the final of the UCL trophy last season;at least, I am sure he scored for you, crucially, against Barca.
11/02/2013 21:15:00
i agree with desmond . Torres actually cost us alot . but the manager got the sack. i am probably repeating this but look at the average united team with a world class foward , that is the difference . our team last year with drogba was different . but look at the matches againt juve , shakhtar where he was supposed to step up he did not , if he performed under carlo or avb they both probably would not have gotten the sack . right now we still have him expected ba to be in the line up from day one but no i keep hearing he cant play twice a week because of his knees that he used to play twice a week for newcastle , and he has to rotate with torres now i dont even see ba any longer

I'm actually beginning to wonder if we really need Falcao. We have scored 100 goals this season! The second highest scorers in Europe, after Barcelona. With Lukaku back, a decent defensive midfield player, an additional - cheaper - centre forward and of course a decent manager we could be challenging for the title again.
11/02/2013 21:56:00
And lukaku scores yet again , sincerely im getting tired of him scoring somewhere else , we should have brought him back , it will be stupid not to use him next season

11/02/2013 21:56:00
@cobham blue he will be an upgrade but with the price they are mentioning not to talk to adding courtois to the deal makes it really look stupid at that point . we cam strengthen the whole squad and actually get quality players all round rather than an outrageous amount on him and our keeper should not be let go for any reason

at this rate kraken for the young player of the season anybody??...
11/02/2013 21:59:00
@FV- Spot on.Lmao./ Those midgets are gonna win the UCL again this year if care isnt taken. A midget is arguably the best player in our time at present. Football has evolved, gone are the days of kick and follow.....Now you need a sensible head and good technique amongst other things but being bulky is no longer the top requirement in football. I dont think we can blame Torres that much to be honest......The boy has tried and has failed,we dont have to rub the salt in.....I blame Roman! If we had a proper set up in the club,Torres would have been sold at a cut price by now.
11/02/2013 21:59:00
lukaku's goal...weker right foot finish plus a fantastic first touch and humiliation of agger for the second time in 5 minutes....he is looking like he'll be worth every single penny meen...emenalo again...looking like a good job.
11/02/2013 22:04:00
****weaker right foot finish...
11/02/2013 22:07:00
next season, number 1 priority is getting a good manager for the long term... JM/ Hiddink/ Ladraup/ and let him manage the football side of things. Bring in Fellaini, modric/ozil another forward/striker, make lukaku/ba our starting strikers, promote piazon to bench... something of that nature.... Ship off Torres, Malouda, and other (deadwood)... anyways what i'm trying to say is we HAVE TO get our shiiiet finally straight, otherwise we'll be going down the hill even more and at a faster rate!!!
11/02/2013 22:16:00
Don capon, I agree, the price being talked about is ludicrous for a 27 year old and I seem to remember Diego Forlan was red-hot at A. Madrid and couldn't hit a cow's ass with a banjo at Man Utd. We can't afford another expensive flop. The risk is too great if the fee is anywhere near £50m.
