Cech to Play Through Pain Barrier

Cech to Play Through Pain Barrier

I think you can probably latch on to the clubs ambition to win the Europa League by the fact that it is looking likely that Petr Cech will be between the posts.

Cech is currently suffering from a broken little finger, an injury that was expected to keep him on the side-lines against Wigan last Saturday an din the forthcoming fixture against Sparta Prague, this Thursday.

But it appears that Petr is keen to play through the pain barrier and is determined to play against he club he left some eleven years ago.

Speaking about his injury, after the win over Wigan, Petr is attributed as having remarked,

"I managed to perform just fine, although my hand is throbbing quite a bit."

"Now I`ve survived this, I`m sure I`ll be fine to play against Sparta, too. Of course it hurts but you just need to suffer through the pain."

That`s the spirit Petr, we`re in it so let`s win it!

In the match day thread I wrote that cech is having problems with his hands from what I noticed on the wigan game, my thoughts on this is that he should be saved at all cost and only played in the EPL when necessary, because if he is knocked out now, then we are in deeper ***** than we already are

Oh my word! I can understand he wants to play against his former club, but is it smart enough to risk him?

this is because we dont have a creditable back up keeper. i still don't know why we have fenced out Hilario from the team. He is a far better goalkeeper than Turnbull ( who is an apology of a keeper) anyway. My suggestion will be that we forget about the Europa League and player mostly youth and reserves, Ake, Benayoun, Malouda, etc and any other player not in the first 15 and concentrate solely on our league position. With the foolishness of the board in not investing in depth this January, It will be foolhardy to play Oscar, Hazard, and especially Mata in this kind of games. In fact, they should be rested at home and Torres should be used exclusively for the competion while Ba is reserved for the league games especially with some tough fixtures coming up.

Peter Cech=freaking legend!...I hope the club manages this situation wisely so we dont end up worse off..if he gets injured...a word for the wise.

Desmond and Dwonder echo my sentiments. Cech is an iron man so of course he will want to play but Rafa should save him and Chelsea FC from himself. It is most unwise for us to be playing an injured and hurting Cech in Europa league fixtures. This is asking for big trouble because if he gets injured more than he is already is (remember he has a chronic painful elbow arthritis as well for which he is to have corrective surgery in the summer) we can pretty much kiss our top 4 BPL finish aspirations goodbye. We may yet pay the full price for not getting a quality no 2 goalie before this season ends. Also for the life of me i cannot understand what the reasoning is behind having Hilario designated no 3 and Turnbull no 2. As Dwonder indicated hilario is way more experienced and a far better keeper than turnbull..the only things turnbull has on Hilario are that he is taller and English..none of which will save us when he is one on one with an advancing opposing attacker. If there were ever any games to play turnbull in electively the Europa league games are it.

Most people are sayin we should forget about the EL,an idea which i subscribe to.but the question is:are the players ready to forget about it? titles are very important for players,no matter where and how it is won as posterity only recognise winners, they would prefer to have an EL winners medal than to drop out in the knockout stages of UCL..another angle to it is their affiliation with the opponent, players are always determined to/interested in featuring vs their old/hometown clubs as mirrored by petr cech...however,i pray rafa handles the situation well and not pursue personal ambitions at the detriment of clubs'

that only show that chelsea are aying people who are not worthy to be in Hillario and Turnbull, who needs to move on and create space for the players who will come in and play well when needed.

Why do we need to have then yet they cannot come in and play when needed?

Chelsea should have started giving Blackman game time long ago. Turnball and Hilario are never going to be fancied and if we plan to include Thibaut in the deal for Falcoa then we should start looking for another GK from now. Jamal seems to have a similar temperament to Chalobah. He seems to be very competitive as well. He has the height and build to do the job. Give him a few games and see how he does.
