Another Milestone for Lampard

Here on Vital Frank Lampard we`d like to congratulate Frank.

His goal, in the 72nd minute against Brentford, in the 4th round FA Cup replay, made it 199 in his Chelsea career.

Frank is now three goals behind Bobby Tambling`s all-time record of 202.

However, we would, here on Vital Frank Lampard, would like to point out that the goals was Frank`s 26th in the FA Cup eclipsing Tambling`s record of 25.

The goal also made it 5 goals in 6 games for Frank and 13 for the season.

Like the crowd were singing - sign him up

Congratulations Frank from all at Vital Chelsea.

Can you even call yourself a chelsea fan if you hate Lampard? Legend!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lakupiippu
the grin on Abramovich's face when Lamps scored was like, "geez, this guy never stops scoring and forcing me to reconsider my options" :P
Soum
@lakupiippu, you are absolutely spot on brother.if anyone in this forum says anything negative about frank agan, then obviously it confirms my suspicion that they are probably supporters of west ham united and not Chelsea. All hail super frank!A true Chelsea Legend
George44
This article was released before the game actually ended I suppose
valachi
Absolute legend. He's the best midfielder in the world ever.
BOTUM
Uhm,good 4 him and the team.let him him score a winning goal against city next week.
blue5
Yeah, let him score 2 goals from open play and a decisive one from the spot against City, it will be perfect.
SameX
Top lad and edging ever closer to Tambling's record. He could have scored 2 or 3 goals today if he had his scoring boots on,but i'm pretty glad he got a goal and a huge credit to Mata for spotting his run. 3 more goals to equal the record and 4 to beat Tambling's record. Super Frank Lampard.

Zidane who?
foreign_viewer
FV.Is that sarcasm or what?Whatever it is,there has never been a better footballer than Zidane on this planet(maybe Pele and Maradona).Lampard himself would not like to be compared with Zidane. But after Zidane,I have never seen a better footballer than Frankie. He's above Xavi and Iniesta.Iniesta may have more skills, but Lampard is a better match-winner.
cfc250
Ofcourse Lampard is above Xavi and Iniesta talking from a sentimental Chelsea fan perspective. I would argue Pirlo is better than Xavi and that Iniesta has surpassed Zidane.
foreign_viewer
Lampard in his prime was better than Xavi in his prime in my honest opinion :)
CalculatedKalou
FV, shut up. You don't have to spoil the moment for those of us who admire his accomplishments.
RadioactiveD
Congrats super frankie..hope u break the record in our next 2 or 3games.the earlier he breaks that record the better for everyone
Ken4CFC
Radio let me have my opinion. Keep yours.
foreign_viewer
FV.Who has the more number of goals and assists in the Champions League(not comparing La Liga and PL as they are not same grounds)?Who bossed whom in the Chelsea vs Barca games?4-2 at the Bridge?1-0 at the Bridge in 2006-07.2-2 at the Nou Camp?2009 semi-finnal ere Ovrebo robbed us.2012,two passes from Lampard kicked Barca out of the CL.Remember Lampard's goal at the Nou Camp in 2006-07 from zero angle.I can't remember Xavi and Iniesta scoring a single goal. What are you smoking?
cfc250
*single goal of that kind.
cfc250
Xavi's game is all about passing. His age doesn't affect his game much. He almost always in the middle third of the pitch. Whereas, Lampard's game is about going box to box. Age will affect that. As to who's better is a personal choice.
foreign_viewer
Bit different in La Liga where the midfielders give each other about enough time to clip their toe nails before making a pass. In contrast to the PL, where you'll have some brick of a player munch you.
CalculatedKalou
CalculatedKalou. Please educate this idiot.FV.Thats why we are comparing them on the same grounds(Champions League).Tell me who has the more number of goals and assists.Tell me who s come out on top when they have faced each other head-to-head.Xavi's game is about passing.I can't remember him delivering a through in important matches like the one Lampard did for Ramires' goal at the Nou Camp.
cfc250
Spain keep winning because of Xavi and Iniesta. Their whole game is based on Xavi and Iniesta finding the right pass. It is not a coincidence they keep winning.
foreign_viewer
cfc250 name calling doesn't win arguments.
foreign_viewer
F.V.You replace Xavi by Lampard in the Spanish squad. Then also they will keep winning. They are just too good.Alonso,David Villa,Biscuits,Silva,Pedro, etc.Even their bench can thrash any European side. And their understanding is magnificent.England is a $hit side.Is that Lampard's fault? If Xavi comes, they will still remain a $hit side. One player won't make a huge diffeence.Lampard, still proved his worth on the International with winners against two of World's best teams at Wembley(Brazil and Spain). He scored a wonder goal against Germany which was disallowed.
cfc250
Xavi has 3 CL trophies, 2 Euros, 1 world cup. Barca's/Spain's style of passing, even when under pressure, made it all possible.
foreign_viewer
FV.Is that name-calling or an argument?Neither of them in my opinion.Everyone knows you are an idiot. We can contest a poll with the editor's permission if you like.Is that an argument?Certainly not on your part."Trolling" is the better word here for you.Had it been Radio or CalculatedKalou,I would have called it an "argument".But if its you or MQ,I'll call it "trolling".Anyway, who gives a toss to what you think?Lampard was the PL player of the decade and you are not fit to even tie laces.
cfc250
Is benayoun the new torres of the MOTM poll??
Ken4CFC
cfc250, One player can make a difference. Pirlo left Milan as champions and they fell apart after that. Immediately, Juve became champions the following season.
foreign_viewer
FV.Then Valdes is better than Cech and Pique is better than Terry,Vidic,Ferdinand, etc.
cfc250
cfc250 you can't rubbish a whole country just to praise one player. I don't think any England fans will be happy abou that.
foreign_viewer
Lampard can't play the Spanish way. He would get in their squad. Even Mata is struggling to get in.
foreign_viewer
FV.One player can make a difference? How much difference?Spain have too much quality that they can win without Xavi.Villa was Spain's best player in the 2010 World Cup.They lost him but still won the Euros.Milan became $hit since they won the CL in 2007.Arsenal knocked them out in the round of 16 in 2007-08.They did not even play the CL in 2008-09.Man UTD thrashed them in 2009-10.Even Spurs kiced them out in 2010-11.Where was Pirlo in all these games?
cfc250
FV.Lampard can play anywhere. He is just bloody too good to bench anyone, including Iniesta.
cfc250
Fergie believes Scholes is the best English CM in the last 20 years. Do you disagree with him?
foreign_viewer
No.FV.Fergie does not believe that. Its just the way of motivating his ownplayers. He just said a week ago that Jones is better than Terry.Do you agree with that? Its the way of motivating his own players. Are you too thick to understannd that?
cfc250
Scholes could not even get a starting place in the midfield ten years ago for England.Gerrard and Lampard were regular starters.Erickson played him on the left wing which forced him to retire.
cfc250
Milan won the league again in 2011. They let Pirlo go, which was a mistake. He then goes on to win Serie A with Juve. They will probably win it again this season.
foreign_viewer
Winning the Serie A is not a big thing, especially, when you lack competition.Even Mancini won four consecutive titles.Speaks volumes about the quality of the side, that gets knocked out by Spurs and Arsenal.
cfc250
People were not even talking about Pirlo since the 2006 World Cup.2007 CL was all about Kaka. One good game against a pathetic England side and I am seeing people were Pirlo jerseys everywhere.
cfc250
Juve knocked Chelsea out this season. How is that? Italy knocked out England in the Euro. Are they really as bad as you say? They went on to reach the final where they met Xavi and Iniesta. You know what happened in that one.
foreign_viewer
Fv. Milan won the Serie a thanks to Ibrahimovic and silva, and when pirlo left they finished 2 in the league. the reason they are ***** now is casuse they sold silva and ibra. And milan aint ***** now. THey are 3 rd in the serie a at the moment
Lakupiippu
That's because players like Xavi and Pirlo have been under appreciated in the past. How many CLs does Pirlo have? He's a world cup winner too.
foreign_viewer
Can't rubbish a whole country?I have pals living in England, who themselves admit that they are currently not a good side. They were a magnificent side ten years ago. They could have Champions that time. But now they are hardly averagee.Johnson,Lescott,Jagielka,Milner,Parker,Ox,Walcott,etc.All are $hit.Apart from a 34-year old and an out of form Steven Gerrard and a 36-year old Lampard and probably Cole and Rooney(who does not deliver for England),all players are $hit.CalculatedKalou is English.Ask the editor himself. He himself would agree with me.From Campbell to Rio to JT,they have Lescott and Jagielka.GarethBarry?I don't even want to talk about him. From Beckham and Joe Cole to Walcott,Milner and the Ox.From Micheal Owen to Andy Caroll and Danny Welbeck. From Gary Neville to Johnson. When two of your 34-year old players are your best,it speaks a load about the quality of your youngsters and your squad.England have declined at a fast rate.
cfc250
I am talking only about Milan.Who's talking about Juve and Italy?Milan are a pathetic side.Even Malaga got the better of them in the group stages.Pirlo has two CLs.So what if he's a World-Cup winner?Still,Lampard is better whether you like it or not.Pedro is better than Cristiano. He has two CLs and one World Cup and one Euro title.CR7 just has one CL.So,definitely,Pedro is better than him.
cfc250
Where was Pirlo when Italy got out of the Confederations Cup group stages in 2009 and 2010 World Cup?Xavi has been under appreciation?Goodness me.He was not even a guaranteed starter under Riijkaard. They had Deco,Van Bommel,Edmilson,Toure,Iniesta in the midfield. There was a lot of competition that time.Deco was the best under Riijkaard.
cfc250
Deco,in his prime, was a better plaer than Xavi.Ask Rijkaard. He always preferred Deco over Xavi.
cfc250
When Pep got rid of Deco and Ronaldinho many thought it was a mistake. Look at Barca now. Deco at 32 was finished. Xavi at 32 is still going strong.
foreign_viewer
Deco,at his prime, was better than Xavi,Thats all I am saying. He lacked fitness since he came to Chelsea, but still,he was important when he was fit.I am just saying Deco in his prime was a better player than Xavi.Thats it.He helped his team win the CL twice.2004 CL was all about him.
cfc250
Credit to Pep for getting rid of Ronaldinho and Deco at the right time. That was the smartest bit of work I have seen Pep do in the market.Awesome work.
cfc250
Lampard is better than Xavi, Pirlo, Iniesta? Yes? His fellow professionals don't think so though.
foreign_viewer
Lampard is better than Messi too. I'm done.
foreign_viewer
The funny thing in all of this is that my favorite player ever is Zidane. A midfielder. A mad genius who could do everything. I greatly admire Lampard for his accomplishments and skills, but for me Zidane is that once in a lifetime player. My point is simple. Just because Lampard isn't Zidane or doesn't pass and move like Xavi doesn't negate his career of accomplishments. FV is too stubborn and too stupid to understand that basic fact. His obsession with insulting Lampard borders on the psychotic. It's quite bizarre.
RadioactiveD
And even if Lamps isn't "better" than Xavi, Pirlo, Iniesta, Zidane, etc etc etc, what does that have to do with a simple article praising his scoring records? FV's only agenda is to stir up *****.
RadioactiveD
Yes I am English and do agree to a certain extent with your point cfc250, but what I must stress is that we are far more a team than we used to be. We used to have so many egos and big names we couldn't contain it and the pressure got to us for example - Neville, Campbell, JT, Rio, Ash, Becks, Gerrard, Lamps, Owen, Rooney. We had a magnificent crop of players that generation but lacked any togetherness. Now, yes we have lost so much quality, but there really is a team feel about England. Players like Cleverly, Ox, Hart, walcott, Sterling, Zaha, Welbeck, Studge, Jones, Smalling are a great crop of young hungry players who want to prove themselves and have glory rather than going through the motions like we had with the "golden era." We are guided y experienced players for England who actually gave it there all in Ash, Frank, Stevie G and Rooney, they know that they're reaching the end (not so much roo) and are willing to give it one last shot. Then we have players in their peak years who were overlooked and therefore don't have the "star" edge to them, players like Jags, Lescott, Barry, Baines, Milner, Johnson, Parker are far more down to earth players who the fans can connect to more and give it there all for the team. Yes we don't have a team full of World Class players, like Spain Brazil or Germany (we have 3 at the most) but we have shown that on our day we can beat anyone, and as you so rightly mentioned Frank has scored the winning goal against both Brazil and Spain recently so he must not be discredited as he has clearly shown that he is as good as anyone.
CalculatedKalou
Unfortunately, you can't compare the likes of Pirlo, Lampard, Xavi, Iniesta etc as they are all different types of players, but for sheer impact Lamps has had with Chelsea then I'd personally take him over any of them, there is no greater commodity in football than a goal scoring midfielder especially one of Franks Talents, 199 goals speaks for itself, in the modern era is there any central midfielder who has achieved this feat in the last 50 years?
Splint1976
For me the most telling thing i saw today regarding Lamps confirmed to me that Lamps will leave Chelsea at seasons end and not get any contract offer at all. When he was subbed of and the crowd was eagerly applauding the camera panned to Roman who for some strange reason was not in a sky box today and the expression on his face said it all..it was an expression of disgust. Compare that to when Torres was subbed of some time back after a poor showing and the crowd had a mixed reaction, Roman stood, smiled and clapped heartily for his favorite son. Whatever you think..whether you feel it is justified or not, it is Roman's team, he pays the bills and while i had suspected it before that the lamps situation was the result of a personailitty clash with Roman, what i saw today confirmed it. If i turn out to be wrong and Lamps ends up getting a new contract at seasons end i will come here on VC to swallow my humble pie and admit i got it wrong but my career has required me to read people based on non verbal body language and i think i have become pretty good at it now..What i saw today shows that Roman has a "big" personal issue with lamps. I dont think this has anything to do with lamps football skills, his productivity, his age or any other football issue...i now understand why lamps agent said he had been told that lamps would not get a contract extenision"under any circumstance". Further more all the noise the fans are making about it wont change Roman..people like him dont get to be as powerful and succesfull in the cut throat world of mega international business by being easily moved based on public opinion. I am now pretty certain this is lamp's last season with us..he should just aim at breaking Tambling's record (which now seems easily attainable), set his Chelsea career in order and ride into the sunset to a new career vista come the summer. His time at Chelsea FC is done..Roman has decreed it.
GabeU
FV.He has a better character and is a better match-winner than all of these guys.He may not possess 50% of Messi's skills and 75% of Iniesta's skills, but Lampard and Drogba have a better character, temporament and match-winning ability. Why does Chelsea get the better of them each time they meet?Talent will only take you to a certain extent.
cfc250
Radio.I share your sentiments on Zidane.CalculatedKalou.All your hopes are with Gerrard and Lampard. If these two fire, then you have a chance.Just a personal opinion, that if you make it to Brazil,Roy will recall JT and that will strengthen the defence. He was magnificent at the Euros. That clearance against Ukraine was a huge turning point. Now FV could call him a "goalkeeper" just like he calls Lampard a "striker" because he scores goals. Also,he treated Balotelli like bread and butter against Italy.I am afraid that the F.A are too thick to see what a great player they are losing.Anyway,I think,JT will fly to Brazil, along with Rio.
cfc250
@GabeU said it all i wanted to say. FL carrier at CFC is finished. Like lot of people think it has NOTHING to do with money or length of contract etc. If its anyone of the above there could be some solution on the way. BUT the obituary for FL has written when the day RA sacked AVB personally. Our fans are failing to understand how much AVB and his pet project means to RA. AVB is solely appointed by RA. WHY? BCZ RA known fully well that he cant pump up the money like before once the FFP kicked in. So he embarked a 3 year project to revamp the club from top to bottom with a young and good manager to ease out the older players and sign younger stars for lower money. With AVB punching above his weight at Spuds i dont think RA will forgive or forget about FL. We can all argue its all AVB's fault and he got what hedeserved etc. But the underlying truth is the veterans like DD,FL,JT etc asked to give the baton to the next generation when we appointed AVB. But whether rightly or wrongly FL was the biggest culprit on that. Fans are still not grasping the full magnitude of the AVB episode. RA personally wasted more than 20M. For sacking carlo for 8M and bringing avb for 13M and sacking him for another 5M. Our fans are asking what about the CL and fa cup we won last season. Nobody in their right frame of mind will compare that with any of our trophies. Its just a miracle. Nothing else. Miracles wont happen often. RA is doing the job of AVB hired to do last season. Still we are in the PROJECT. Like GabeU said if you read people then you can clearly see that RA didnt even clapped for a guy who scored a goal in the match to settle the tie who is on the verge of breaking our all time record. But for any argument there is 2 side for the story in this also. We can all associate ourselves with FL. But we must respect the club position. If RA and the board thinks that FL and his gang overstepped their mark in the avb debacle then i dont think you can argue about getting rid of them. Only one question is going to come again and again to the board mind What is the guarantee that FL and his gang wont act like the AVB era in next season with another new young manager? NOBODY could answer for this for sure. So the club took the east option of not renewing FL's contract. Which side is right? I dont know. But let FL broke the record and go into sunset like DD with his head held high.
BlueAndWhiteArmy
Legendary stuff indeed....
@Mq
We may well be seeing a "new" legend in the making....http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1531593-chelsea-enquiry-for-manuel-pellegrini-leaves-doubt-over-rafael-benitez
@Mq
Speaking of "legends" boy am I glad another isn't coming...http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2280162/Real-Madrid-2-Rayo-Vallecano-0-Jose-Mourinho-admits-interested-managing-France-Paris-Saint-Germain.html
@Mq
next season i can see half of vc getting empty...if lamps leaves...hope he leaves next season let finish this contract circus as soon as possible...cant beleive rather than concertrating on our club issues we are more concern for a playerr contrct issue..since last two season its has been either torres or lamps more on the news rather been having chelsea as the main priority...till all thos player are their chelsea will always be given second importance...it would be btter if we end all those torres lamps isue once for all in this summer...
shlok27
when frank came off i didnt see Roman applauding
herefordchelsea
when Mata was subbed did you see Roman applauding HEREFORD??
@Mq
Ive been preparing myself for this, GabeU and BlueandWhiteamy said it all. This is the last season we see Frank Lampard wear that pride blue jersey, and I am really grateful for being given the opportunity to witness one of the most finest player in the history of Chelsea FC. Now get that record broken, and win us everything possible for one last time
Gaban
I dislike Rafa as much as the next guy and he is clearly following orders by continuing to play Torres (Although why don't any of our strikers ever score? We are the second highest scorers in Europe yet neither Torres or Ba ever seem to score.) Anyway, Rafa is not supposed to be playing Frank Lampard. Roman clearly doesn't want Frank playing every week but Rafa is ignoring him because he knows Frank is just too good and too important to leave out.
CobhamBlue
Thank u Gabeu and BAWA,i have been sayin same thing since the start of this lamps conundrum, the fans can keep makin all the noise, raise all the 'sign him up' plankers and banners, carry out a protest match, write petitions e.t.c..roman's mind is made up and thats the legend must leave this summer, lampard's agent came out some few weeks back to tell the world that his client has been told he would not be offered a new deal under any circumstance, that sums it up.it would take a miracle of great proportion to see lampard still here next season..he should break the record quickly coz the sooner he breaks it the better for all and sundry
Ken4CFC
Now people will keep crying to sign him up....I think he shd sign quickly for LA Galaxy and move there in May to avoid the speculations...He needs just 4 more goals and Mazacar will ensure he gets enough chances to get those....
Blu_run
GabeU,as much as you've made good points regarding body language and Roman not applauding Lamps exit,I doubt very much that's even as close to a yard stick to guarantee Franky won't be getting a new contract. I can as well assume a perception that the body language shown by Roman when Lamps scored was that of a man who was about to bulge... We all know the circumstances related to Frank's lack of contract negotiations and what transpired during AVB's sacking, but Lamps staying also has to do with who the next manager is and if he rates Lamps involvement in the squad(Jose Mourinho). Ashley Cole was as good as gone,PSG official twitter site already guaranteed he was a red and blue next season, the club took a step back and changed their ground. As it stands, its one game at a time till the season ends....Franks can score and break all the record for this season, what really matters is if he is in the clubs plan for the future(a lot has to do with helping the younger players grow),and the next coach has a huge say in that.
nelyvanile
well said NELY although I'd wish to ask if anyone saw Roman standing and clapping when Mata was subbed??
@Mq
*different game different reactions folks, let's not make a big deal out of a small ill
@Mq
As I say in recent lampard articles, I am now indifferent, if roman likes, he should renew it, if roman likes he should not renew it even if our next manager (mourinho most likely wants him to stay), what I am sure about is that what lampard have achieved in the world of football cannot be erased by roman or the lampard haters nor even his lovers, either u lot like him or hate him, he is not only a chelsea legend, he is a football legend which u lot would be proud to associate urself with as a blue when he finally retires, think of me in future when that day comes
Desmondadonis
Going by what Mou is passing through with the big egos and club heroes in Madrid,it remains a probability if he will want Lamps to stay on when appointed. My utmost concern is seeing Lamps break that goal record. After that we all, including him, will know if it is best he stays or goes with the ovation loudest.
Ohans
JT- Captain, leader, legend! the real deal...
JohnnyOz
i m not interested in arguing but what i want to see from super frank is to break the record as soon as possible and that too in a home match because the i want to feel the happiness at that time which i dont get in away games.
