Shocking David, Absolutely Shocking

With Chelsea leading 4-0 and with the game won was that a piece of cynical South American play we saw from David Luiz.

Although Brentford were threatening to reduce the arrears via counter-attack, was it really necessary for David Luiz to callously stick his shoulder into the jaw of the young Brentford player, Reeves?

Neil Swarbick showed David Luiz a yellow card but it could so easily have been a red that the foul was worthy of.

Come on David Luiz, you`re better than that so cut it out!

Instead of applauding some ppl see small mistakes he has done.i only saw him in that mdfld others were wasting spaces.so pathetic.

David was good generally. If it was not for that foul we would have been out of FA cup by now. Thanks Luiz. Hope Josh plays against us in 5th round tie.
BOTUM
I think if you can't handle it you shouldn't be on the pitch. David body-checked the young fella, got the yellow card, move on. I don't think there was anything sinister in that Merlin and it's a contact sport. You've got to stop apologising everytime something happens on the pitch. Same way you went apologising to the Swans after the Hazard incident. It's part of the game Merlin, it's a contact sport. Jeeez
BlueKeyRing
I don't know what game you guys were watching but Brentford's strategy from the start of the first game was to play physical especially with our front three of Mata, Oscar and Hazard...Brentford was trying to intimidate Chelsea with their physical game from the start....WHO did not see this??? Luiz was just letting Brentford know that both teams can play physical. I saw nothing wrong with the play...of course it was a foul. So what? I am glad someone from Chelsea stood up for his fellow players....Well done David...Well done..you may make captain yet....
lamarochs
You lot got to be kidding me!! That was totally unnecessary from Luiz. A red card could have been more appropriate and he was just lucky to go with a yellow. I wont be surprised and ofcos wont complain if he further punished for. For me,he erased all the good performance with that single shame. I felt ashamed watching that over again from the replay. It was a very bad challenge and am with you this time,Uncle Merlin.
Ohans
I think I've seen players make such challenges and get away with or without a yellow. Lets get the facts straight. The challenge was cynical and unnecessary especially when leading 4-0. I think even Luiz knows that. But does the challenge deserve a red card. Well thats is a NO NO. What we should realise is that the English media is not a big fan of our very own CFC. They'll always pick on our board, owner, coach, players, fans and anything affiliated to our beloved club. What I'm worried about is they might get us to turn against each other. And start questioning each other, even our very in-form and devoted players. Just take a look at how the Hazard-ballboy-issue was covered by the media. What about the JT-Ferdinand-Race row. So, no matter how much I might have hated Luiz's challenge, I would like us to slate him and let this issue be a topic under discussion
emperorzert12
^^^ @lamarochs said it all, they were busy kicking mata, moses, and oscar all through the game, its only fair he gave them a dose of their medicine. There wasn't any malice in the body check he gave the brentford player another refree will wave it away as a professional foul
Desmondadonis
I have to agree with marlin Luiz was only looking at the player not the ball. Do not know what goes through his head sometimes! Apart from that had a good game
MrDax
'i will not like us to slate him' sorry for the typo
emperorzert12
It was a cynical, stupid tackle...but a red? I don't see it.
RadioactiveD
Brentford came at us all physical, they were kicking all our players up n down d pitch xpecially dia captain. I think Luiz did over do a little bit anyway.
Bunmiemich
you are overreacting merlin. There were many less then friendly tackles on our players that went unnoticed by the ref. If this deserved a red then colocini should be banned for life for the tackle against ba
Blue India

Luiz went into the Brentford dressing room and apologised.
MrDax
I agree with Blue India, your over reacting Merlin I thoght our David put in a good solid performance, so lets not get suckered in and give the scumbag press something to talk about and did you see wrighty on the tv, what a two face Arse looking at any opertunity to slag us off, Just because his club got Knocked out by um let see, Oh yes BLACKBURN
fitzy-carefree
Whatever, he had a good game, he should not have done what he did but I have come to accept him for who he is, that is Luiz for you, he will be very important for us in midfield and defence this season, he has brought so much life to our midfield, he is a special player.
SameX
He did what he had to do cos the Brentford players were overly physical as well. Its a contact sport Merlin,You cant take that out of the game.
3nity
I could find a hundred highlights of Brentford players doing similar things to us, that goes down as cheeky, hard working and admirable. I don't see why, because Chelsea players are better at football, they are expected to be superior moral beings also.
Wiggis
In as much as i dislike davids' action,i wont slate him either, comon i have seen worse challenges that has gone unpunished or simply quelled with a yellow card, the brentford players were all over us with their physical approach and they kept outmusclin and bullyin our little players and david just gave them a piece of their own medicine..yes the tackle was cynical but its never a redcard in ma books, just as blueindia said:if that deserved a redcard then colocini should be ban for life for that tackle against ba
Ken4CFC
? Merlin that he struck his jaw was accidental, it was unnecessary at 4-0 but red card? Definitely not something he should do since it was risky, but i enjoyed Luiz in our midfield again, some crunching tackles and then immediately sending it forward. As i said somewhere else, he is like two players.
Mia Maynard
Is benayoun the new torres of MOTM poll? What the hell did he do to earn 55% votes??
Ken4CFC
Shouldn't have done it,had no reason to...and David Luiz was in the Brentford dressing room to apologize as well...end of and let's not make a meal out of it like the media does.
nelyvanile
It was a defensive action, involuntary and he has since apologised so we move on.
bluesod
The tackle wasn't necessary and the ref got it right, it's a yellow card offence, nothing more.... It's never a red card offense..... no ref would give a red for that... Demba Ba was almost decapitated and nothing happened so why should a body check deserve a red?.... the Brentford dude was just weaker than Luiz that's what made it a bit bad, it would have been 50/50 if the tackle was against a player like Victor Wanyama....
Latunvic
Well we were due a David Luiz brain fart at some point or another...
BlueCowboy
Still think we should turn down a bid from Barca outright??
@Mq
brasilians have always had a dark side even in the 70s they would be picking people up after a challenge then sneakily stick a thumb in your ear.however im not impressed by his behaviour your better than this david luiz pack it in make this the last time sir
herefordchelsea
EXCELLENT COMMENT Latunvic......... we have been bullied all year, its about time we have found our midfield general!!! cynical is good when the match is in the balance, or against an importnant player or leader of the oppisition team, of course as long as its not too stuipid of a challenge wheras luiz was borderline.......... anyway toughen up you lot! AND who calls for a 433 or 343 with luiz captaining from central midfield maybe next season?
Bain^DoggZ
343 meaning luiz playing back in an advanced sweeper role, his very comftable in possesion and has smooth passing but probaly has the worst shot from open play i have ever seen, so we dont need him too far foward just to really help our midthree of saaaaaay ramires romeu mata feeding our front three
Bain^DoggZ
it's a pity for this behavior, totally unnecessary. like Ohans said, he should have been red-carded for this. On the other hand he is one of the (few) players that will always you 100%. Apart from his shooting from distance he had a great game in midfield, as he generally does.
HaraldBlue
It was an unnecessary tackle in a non dangerous position but not worthy of a red card. He wouldn't have known the guy would be such a softie and has gone into their dressing room to apologize. What else do you people want. I did not see anyone here slating Colocini for that Kung Fu kick on Ba's face neither did anyone fume that he did not go into our dressing room to apologize for the kick. It is one law for other footballers; another for the heathen before the pale.
Dwonder
C'mon guys i dont see how he intended to barge into the Brentford's players face, i think he intended to barge (this is a mans game afterall) but i dont think he thought oh i'm just going to run into that players face...Those pundits on ITV were talking like Luiz should have been arrested ( re cowardly this and that)...Anti chelsea brigade firing on all cylinders, i see....It was an honest error and the lad has apologised.
JohnnyOz
Rooney DELIBRATELY and MALICIOUSLY took out a very young McCarthy of wigan without play been stopped or even a yellow card given. What was the media reaction? Did Rooney even apologised? Are some people here on drugs? Why should we slate Luiz for defending his team?
munich Glory
you got to do things like that,so people will fear you,we became to soft on the pitch. teams dont fear us annymore. so dave carry on the good stuff!
crochels
the amount of chelsea hating verbal from that famous chelsea hater ian wright and that nut case martin allen on itv afterwards made me physically sick. okay it was most certainly a foul ,for which he was booked. "perhaps the fa might like to look at this"said a$$ole allen. well let me tell you something mr. allen once the referee acted in brandishing a yellow that's that. no upgrade of punishment possible you pea brain.you'd think so called experts employed by a large organisation like itv would have adequate knowledge of the rules but no such luck! pathetic!
trueblue44
OH MY FREAKING DIETY!!!! Its Part Of The Game! Ever heard of a technical foul... or a team foul?
