'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Off On a Pilgrimage!

I`ll be conspicuous by my absence for the next three days!

You see its Christmas for me tomorrow.

It`s time to cash in those flight tickets my wife purchased for my Christmas present and head off to Bavaria, or to be more precise the wonderful city of Munich.

I intend to have a great time, I`ll probably eat far too much and more than likely drink far too much but I have to say that`ll I`ll miss you all.

However, I leave you in the safe hands of the rest of the editorial team and those fine chaps over at Vital HQ.

Furthermore, I intend to be stood inside the Allianz Arena, on a guided tour, on 19th February, some nine months after that magical night and I`ll bring the pictures back for you to savour.

Auf Wiedersehen for now folks and I`ll see you all Thursday.

Anytime merlin goes on vac, we tend to suffer for it!! Where can we suggest articles to, to keep the front page lively. It would be quite poetic if Bayern were to remove Arsenal & beat Utd in the final at our 2nd home, Wembley. Can live with that.

@Desmond..thanks mate...I have been so bored...I needed a fix and you just gave me that..lool
layorh12
watching bayern train with Arsenal today reveals further the wisdom behind pep's choice...that bayern team is very very strong..and a bit of tweak here and there will make them even a lot more dangerous...we are far behind them in terms of almost everything...stability, team depth and the way the club is run...they have ex-players in key positions in the club....and If I were Pep, I'll make a similar decision...we have got our work cut out for us...I hope we get it right...malaga was quite crappy tonite but Piazon got some minutes and he was quite decent...
layorh12
Yeah @Layorh, we are behind them, but not far behind, just get quality pivot players and add depth to our wings and attack. Thats all. Thats the reason we must move on from Lamps and get genuine pivot players. Ikay Gundogan & Benat are cheap and available choices. Mikel & Romeu will also do well in the pivot. Josh and Chalobah are developing well. Rami will need to work on himself to play in the pivot. Getting players like Benat and Ikay with Romeu, Mikel, Rami, Josh will be so much depth and quality for the pivot. It will improve our all round play massively. The pivot is key in the 4-2-3-1 setup.
SameX
We have more depth and quality in defence than Bayern. Azpi, Wallace, Kalas, Omeuro, Luiz, Cahill, Terry, Iva, Cole, Ryan, PVA. GK: Cech, Courtois, Blackman
SameX
The only thing is our full backs must learn to attack down the flanks like Alaba and Lahm do and provide deadly crosses into the box. Azpi is gradually becoming something like that, PVA is an attack minded fullback already and I think Wallace should have that attacking mentality as he is Brazillian, Cole have provided deadly crosses for goals this season. Ryan should learn from them and improve.
SameX
@Samex its not only in footballing areas...the bayern overall setup looks robust and well settled..and from Pep's perspective he does not have to get ''genuine pivot players'' at Bayern as they already have quality and depth in every area...I agree though we will get there soon if we make the correct decisions this summer...Nat scored again for Watford this night...our coach call in the summer will be interesting...our talented youths needs to feel they belong here and teh easiest way for them to happen is to integrate the very best into the first team consistently...it will give the others incentive to work harder...and integrating youth to the first team is easier when the manager values youth and is given some time...that is why our coach call in the summer will be very interesting...fingers crossed...
layorh12
As far as their CAM is concerned, lets be honest Kroos is not better than Mata or Oscar. He does not have the quality they possess, Mata especially should not be compared with Kroos, Ozil and Mata should be compared to each other as they had the highest assists in Europe last season, this season Mata is ahead of Ozil in both assists and goals. Oscar is a special player, full of creativity, skills, class, work rate, vision, goals, anything you can think of, this is his first season in Europe but he is already on fire, imagine what he will be in 2 years, Kroos does not possess half the skills and workrate of Oscar but since he is surrounded with very creative wingers and good pivot players, his deficiencies are hidden.
SameX
But in attack they are obviously ahead of us, their wingers are much more refined and experienced than ours. Robben, Ribery, Muller & Shaqiri are much more refined than Hazard, Moses, Marin and KDB. Our wingers still have plenty of work to do to get to the level of Robben & Ribery especially. Btw, I think we should let Marin go as he is injury prone and is not usually fit, so we have to play Hazard all the time. Lets get a solid winger that will effectivelly challenge Moses, Hazard & KDB for a spot on the wings. I watched Rodriguez today, he could not start the match as he was just returning from an injury but when he came on he was incredible. He is a skillful lad, a creative winger who is not afraid to take on his man and shoot @goal like Robben, I think he has a bright future. Instead of wasting cash on Falcao or Neymar, lets get James Rodriguez @all cost.
SameX
Rodriguez, Moses, Hazard & KDB will effectively cover our wings, they will all develop and get better and better together.
SameX
As for Isco, he is not worth it, tbh, he is not as good as some people think. If Piazon remains on loan @Malaga he will overtake Isco and out-fan him also. Isco is an #10 and far from Oscar & Mata in terms of quality. Just let Mata & Oscar rotate the #10 position.
SameX
In CF position, we are behind, but we dont have to spend huge fortune like 46m pounds on a 27yr old forward. Bayern did not spend that much on Mandzukic and he is banging plenty goals for them. He is the 11th highest goal scorer in Europe @present. See! Lewandowski is another cheap but clincal forward, we can get him for less than 17m pounds as he wants to leave BVB and his contract will soon expire. Ba, Lewandowski, Lukaku & Son(possibly) will be enough to mount a serious challenge on the title and go far in the UCL as well as Fa and CC cups.
SameX
"Deluded Arsenal plastics still moaning about Man City and Chelsea's money, they think they can claim some kind of moral victory! Tickets last night cost £94, you can buy a Bayern Munich season ticket for £92. Arsenal make money because they have ripped the soul out of football, they play in a plastic stadium with padded seats and middle class customers. They deserve to fail"
NicciBoy
@NicciBoy..^^^thats sooo harsh...poor old Arsenal..Lmao.!
layorh12
hurry back Merlin there's nothing to read
Chelsea ken
Nice convo between layorh and samex, I knew bayern was going to beat arsenal at home and my prediction along with the scoteline was correct, I am a lil bit disappointed in the porto malaga game, @samex and layorh, what is ur prediction for the two games tonight? Barca vs milan, shalke vs galasataray? I think shalke will win or nick a draw and I am sure milan can atleast nick a draw too
Desmondadonis
@samex, do u really think porto will sell rodriguez? I personally doubt it, but if they sell, I'll place a bet that it would be for a cut throat price
Desmondadonis
@Desmond Barca 3-1Acmilan....Shalke 1-1Gala....gala is very strong now with Didi and Wesley....let's wait and see....
layorh12
rather than putting money on falcoa....i would rather spend big on reus or rodrigues...30 to 35 million for reus will be enough for his services....he is great winger who scores as well as assist...
shlok27
Oh how i pity Arsenal fans....94pounds for that rubbish!!! Their match tickets are the most expensive in the country. I wonder how they get away with it.
3nity
i really dont think we need a lot in the summer window. there are a few obvious areas that we need to take care of which we havent, instead of buying more creative players. Strikers preferably two- HM Son and Icardi, 1 CM- leon Goretzka and Luke shaw (back on loan to soton). get those and give a manager the time to build the team- which is very good but needs the right man to take it forward. get rid of those who are taking up spaces in the team and on the wage bill and bring back KDB, Piazon, Lukaku, josh and send courtois on loan to a PL club after hes signed a new deal, promote Jamal blackman to cechs back up. our main priority though should be finding the right man for the job and keeping him here for more than THREE years.
Blue1989
We cant build a team without a manager. All weve been doing for the past couple of years is patching up and pulling through. That we have been this successful has been a miracle. Now the questions are being asked.......Stability is the only answer. Whats the sense in buying a Messi when our prospective manager rates a Ronaldo above him? We are just buying players without thinking of who to manage them and other tiny details.
3nity
Guys,i think this porto striker,Jackson Martinez,is a decent striker for us. At 26yrs,with 21 goals in 19 league games, nothing wrong with those stats imo. We can tempt them with 20-24m

Ohans
We need to fix the engine first before fixing the hood. Bayern knew their midfield was weak and went our and bought Javi Martinez for 40mm Euros in addition to having Luis Gustavo. They were also conceding goals like crazy last season and picked up a player like Dante for 4.7mm Euros. Add this two to the attack they had plus another set of competent squad players and it won't be crazy to say they have a great shot at the UCL this year. I wish they win it instead of Barcelona. As it is now, Chelsea have a couple of places to improve starting from player departments to coaching staff as well as general attitude as well as establishing a culture and a system. It is easier for Bayern as like minded coaches have continued to manage the club continuously. I am not entirely sure if it is as easy to do it for Chelsea as some of us make it seem. It is really not as easy as black and white.
KAKUfrank
I think the management have realized some of their mistakes and are making or will make effort to correct the wrongs. This I believe is why they were careful about signing new players during the Jan transfer window and brought in Demba Ba alone which was a good deal... Things will get better with time.....
Latunvic
Take a good look at it,you will know it is pointless speculating on transfers without knowing who will be incharge next season and understanding his brand of footie and the players which he might prefer.
Ohans
I agree with you, Latunvic. Our major should be who will be our next manager and the terms and conditions surrounding his appointment. But i prefer to focus on the rest of the season and cheer on the team for the what's left of it.
Ohans
I think we are almost there considering some of the personnels that we have, we only need a few hiring and perhaps some firing, we have nice people working for us in the youth setup, adi viveash, dermot drummy, steve holland etc, we have some scouts that have been doing a good job in recent years (they can still improve), all we need is a director of football in the mould of hiddink or any equivalent, then a solid young manager or an experienced one that can build with our already assembled squad without going on a spending binge
Desmondadonis
@Kaku...Very good point. Bayern addressed their weakness. I'm not sure they really needed a midfielder, but the fact Schweinsteiger was in and out of the treatment table last season, they needed a top midfielder, got Martinez. They did brilliant business addressing where I felt they had issues the most (Defence) last season in the acquisition of Dante. That's what happens when your club is run by football minded people( Ex footballers, and professionals). Like I keep saying we need to address our weakness...Our major weakness is the board. A change in mentality and serious psychological work is needed at the top.
nelyvanile
I am hearing lampard and ivanovic are getting rested for the sparta clash . now usually i am hardly against such but what that is implying that the pivot on sunday will be lampard and someone else . now i dont mind him starting every match but i think that day would not be the best day for such a pivot unless benitez got something up his sleeves , and as for the people needing rest , is ashley cole and mata not supposed to be there too ??? As i can say they are relatively more important than ivanovic right now
Don capon
@don capon u beated me by a few minutes, I just got off the news grid now and caught up on it, m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/21455163 Considering the fact that mikel have been available for the last 2 games and wasn't used, then I dread to think what will happen, it seem some folks @ wagnh are of the same mind too as they raised the same points about 2 days ago in an article there, @ohans and 3nity, remember what I wrote last week on twitter about rafa seeming to ostracize mikel just as he did with xabi alonso in his last season?
Desmondadonis
If we don't use a pivot of luiz/ rammy, mikel/rammy, mikel/ luiz, then I see us been overunned by milner/garcia and yaya toure in the middle, rafa MUST KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING on that day (sunday)
Desmondadonis
I'm with you on that @Ohans... I think continuing to cheer is as far as we can go and the best we can offer as fans for the rest of this awkward season... As for Adi Viveash, I'm beginning to have more respect for the coaching and tactical prowess of that man... He's managing a largely new crop of players this season and he is again through to the quarter-finals of the FA youth cup... is it our youth players that are so good or is it a reflection of Viveash's ability??? I don't want us to rush him but honestly will like to see what he can achieve in a higher level job, maybe the U21 coach or coaching a Championship side or even a mid-table EPL side...
Latunvic
Looking at the squad that will play barcelona in the next gen series, I noticed that AKE is not included in a rich squad that has a chance of getting something against the catalans, now I am not against the fact that he is not included in that squad, what I'll be miffed about is if he didn't play any part in our home game tommorow as it is clear that he was dropped from the squad so he can participate in the europa league, rafa needs to compensate the boy tommorow by letting him start or play atleast 45mins. That would compensate for the disappointment of not playing barcelona with his mates.
Desmondadonis
Desmond. My heart is with Milan, but I see Farca battering Milan. They have become a pathetic side.Even,Malaga got the better of them.Maldini himself said that Milan have declined at a fast rate. And it wouldn't surprise me if Galatasaray make it to thesemis.
cfc250
As I said in the forum yesterday, I won't mind adi viveash at all, either as an assistant or a first team coach, his record speaks for itself, he whitewash teams by huge margins when he gets it right, but what is more pleasing is his team comebacks, from a goal down, atimes 2 goals down, I think there is a 3 goals comeback too if memory serves me right, players like loftus cheek, lewis baker, feruz, kiwomya, conor hunte are having a good time under him, in the game they are playing today, I am confident that we would do chelsea proud. Would have beeń more happy if ake is part of this team, but I have faith in this bunch chosen for the game
Desmondadonis
Guys catch a glimpse of the NextGen if you can...What a game just 15mins in.
nelyvanile
@cfc250, I don't see barca winning if milan can keep iniesta and messi quiet, I go for a win for milan or a draw, milan handles themselves pretty well in the UCL on home soil............ #Chelseanextgenseries Lineup v Barcelona - Beeney, Kane, Davey, Christensen, Nditi, Saville, Kiwomya, Baker, Feruz, Boga, Hunte"

35' Barcelona 0-0 Chelsea. Chelsea seeing more of the ball,Boga and Todd kane getting involved and trying to force the issue despite seeing less of the ball.

why malouda is not playing in the nextgen...he is also a whzkid..

I'll be super pleased if we beat the legendary catalunya B team. Boga is superb
Desmondadonis
Jeez. Hunte sent off for Chelsea after an absolutely needless tackle. We will have to finish the last 40mins with 10 men. We've done it before on senior level...come on lads.
nelyvanile
Hunte should have kept his head after the first half cautioning for dissent

I knew the ref was going to utilize any opportunity he finds to please the home fans... he's a local ref.....

@desmond,I find it difficult to believe that Rafa hates Mikel enough to want to freeze him out of the team. If anything,it is not unconnected to ensuring that Lamps gets his chance in order to meet up his target. But then, with the league getting a higher priority and then lamps preferred for the city (league) game,it suggests he believes in Lamps more. I agree,Ake deserves some good play time tommorrow. I see no reason why players like Coqueline get such number of games in their clubs when Ake only sit on the bench in games he clearly can put in good shifts. @Latunvic, if not for just the excessive pressure and expectation at the club's senior team,Adi is really worth a punt.
Ohans
Its one way traffic now and Chelsea sitting and defending deep, with Feruz uptop on his own. Nail bitting stuff as Barcelona make their 3rd sub.

nelyvanile
Very good win for us, I am soo proud of the lads, but drummy needs to talk to conor and make him take responsibility, his rash tackles put his teamates under unnecessary pressure, its a part of growing up tho

Jeremie Boga steals the winner surely for us with an 'amazing' footwork. We will be looking out for that talent.

People have forgotten the fact that Luiz and lampard only outclassed a lower division team.i also think Benitez is high on some cheap weed.he better know what he's doing.we can only have a chance if we field a pivot of mikel/oscar,mikel/luiz,luiz/ramires,mikel/ramires.i fear yaya toure and his entourage is going to run the midfield show with Lampard on the pitch.

Milan giving barca too much space n sitting too deep
blue5
I'm glad we dealt with Barca... we have a great crop of young players, how I wish these guys can all be groomed and promoted into our 1st team, these lads play with solid understanding which is one thing money can never buy... We don't need to waste money buying some expensive useless player, just add a few more quality to this core of players and we can have a winning team in few years from now without spending crazy money..... I know this will never happen though....
Latunvic
I don't agree with the idea that we need to have Mikel in the Pivot before we can win Mancity.... have we not lost games to even lesser quality midfield with Mikel in our pivot?... If there are any two players who should start for us, it's Lampard and Mata.... not because they are our best players but because so far this season they are the two players capable of getting us goals out of nothing and when it matters most... they both have the ability to rescue us out of difficult situations....

Barca can be clueless at times. Once you stifle their passing game, they never manage to cook up a plan B. When it was clear they weren't making any headway with that tiki taka to the 18 yard box,the best option would have been to switch over to a more direct play. Although they lack the exact personnel needed for that,Villa comes close and should have replaced a hidden Pedro early enough. Am glad about the result...nobody gave Milan the chance, and i thought they played very well. Would easily have been 3 or 4 goals to nothing. Talk about getting the positive out of negative. RDM the genuis!! No copywrite licence needed for this one i think.

This article was actually intended for uncle merlin lol. Great discussion as always guys. Really enjoy reading all of it

Guys here is a little gift from me....anyone who cares to see just how well Paizon did in his first start for malaga can enjoy it from this link, which shows all the touches he made through out his time on the pitch...http://www.dailymotion.com/user/dm_51252cfc4093b/1#video=xxnmci......for me I learnt three important lessons...1. Piazon and Isco are developing a very interesting partnersip..2. On evidence from this match (which is a small sample size of course)..I will not swap Piazon for Isco for any reason....Piazon is a different type of player (more similar to Kaka in his prime) and we will need him at the bridge in the very near future...3. if Piazon carries on at this same rate, we will have a world class player (better than EL Sharaawy at Ac milan) sooner than we expect..similar to the Courtouis situation...exciting times indeed...you guys can enjoy the link!..KTBFFH
layorh12
^^^crisp and incisive passing and movement, my man of the match, an almost flawless performance.....the link shows ALL Piazon's touches, not just the good ones so ts no U-tube and you can make better overall judgement...
layorh12
Great week for Chelsea youngsters...Piazon daring at malaga, Chelsea making to FA Youth cup QF, Beating Barca in NextGen and making to QF....wow wow...I always believed that we had enough talents in Academy, and this particular week just showcased that to the entire world...Now big burden lies on Roman's shoulder, in what will be the biggest decision i.e the next manager of chelsea...We need to be very careful with that, we need a person who can integrate the best of these youngsters into the first team seamlessly...we dont need to buy everytime, we have what we need in our club itself, but no one just realises that....I am eagar to see Lukaku, KDB, Josh, Chalobah, Courtosis, Piazon, Feruz, Bamford, Kane, PVA, Baker, Ruben at chelsea first team....

@BlueABS, tottaly agree. But it is difficult to pint point our best players, Nditi was facing barca's best player, our CB's and kane, they all had a top game.
icebluelg
It is quite frightening to see how many top CB's and ACM's we have: Chalobah, Ake, Kalas, Omeruo, Bruma, Alex Davey, Andreas Christensen, along with Terry, Cahill, Luiz and Iva. ACM's: Piazon, de Bruyne, Boga, Kakuta, here you might caount even Josh and Marin with the Mazacar. Just frightening.
icebluelg
@layorh12, thx for the Piazon video.
icebluelg
It is chiefly because of the abundance of talent that we have in the team that i would want Pellegrini rather than Mourinho to be at the bridge come summer. Apart from the fact that Pellegrini is more of a gentleman and much more less controversial than Mou, I so much admire his philosophy of playing beautiful football and developing youth/ giving youths a chance than Mou. Also He is a far less demanding coach and would rub of well with our youth and 1st teamers. All this is premised on the fact that Roman will give him TIME to intergrate the youths with the available squad with the only goal been CL qualification only for at least 2 seasons. After he has helped intergrate our youths, his contract can be renegotiated or cancelled if we feel a new hand is needed.
Dwonder
If roman wants a football that will please the world, then its pellegrini, if he wants trophies, definitely not pellegrini, u cannot eat ur cake and still have it, roman needs to choose wisely our next coach. For me, I'll take laudrup if he wins the COC trophy, or mou (he plays good footy too) downside is just youth development. Pellegrini will play football that is admirable and pleasing to the world, can make chelsea a darling team, but trophy wise, I aint sold out on him "yet"

@cfc250 and nely, hope u saw my prediction on tweeter yesterday? Milan beated barca (thought it will be 2-1), I won't worry about tonights game, I am more focused on city's game, we'll need steel in the midfield to get anything from that midfield, if not we'll be bullied and runned over, I'll prefer a mikel/luiz pivot, oscar, mata ,hazard,BA...moses and lamps can be impact subs __________________________Cech_______________________ Cesar________cahill____________terry_________________cole __________________mikel________luiz__________________ _________________________oscar______________________ Mata___________________________________________hazard __________________________BA________________________ www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2915/europa-league/2013/02/21/3767177/benitez-must-trust-oscars-genius-to-rescue-listless-chelseas?source=breakingnews&ICID=HP_BN_4

@Desmond...my gut tells me we can actually eat our cake and have it if we bring in hiddink as DOF and Laudrup as manager and then ease the pressure on the young coach give him time to instil his style into the team and integrate youth...Laudrup's footy philosophy is clear, its an hybrid of barca's tikki takka with more direct play...its a bit of a gamble yes., but hiddink as DOF will give the required wise old head and should guide us through....thats my thinking but i do think with the rumours flying around, the board has other ideas...i hope they get it right...let me say it again for the purpose of saying it, tubby should not stay here beyond this summer...and its not only for footballing reasons...
layorh12
@Desmond...oh my God, your city line up is sweet and our best for the city match imo...but tubby will definitely line up differently...I expect Lampard to start and Mikel to be on the bench...**sigh. whatever happens, its a match I pray we win.
layorh12
I would go with the same line up as you Desmond, but I am sure tubby will go with Lampard and Rami/Luiz in the pivot, Hazard and Mata will play for sure, as for the player along them, I have no idea what is tubby thinking: Oscar, Ramires or Moses. And I bet Torres will play as well.
icebluelg
Ba will not be playing 2nite n torres will definately start.so i expect ba to start agaist city bt rafa may think otherwise.
blue5
Allegri for chelsea manager.
Blue1989
need to make sure chelsea do the job tonight. A lot of strong teams could exit tonight Napoli athletico tottenham to name a few.
Chelsea ken
@layorh, if we have that combo of laudrup and hiddink, I am sure we'll be up there with the best in the world in the next 3-4 years, but would roman be sensible enough to trust laudrup? Would he bring hiddink as DOF as opposed to grant? There are so many variables in this managing dilemma, as for the city game, our best chance is to keep city quiet from the midfield, we can outclass them with that midfield up there ^^, the midfield is of both steel and creativity, city won't be able to punish us from the wings as they don't have natural wingers there. Only nasri who is creative and silva who is also creative but without pace. Our subs can be lamps, rammy, and moses in the 2nd half when they tire out rammy/moses with pace to burn would do them damage most definitely
Desmondadonis
@Desmond, i beg to differ from that notion that Pellegrini cant win trophies. That he has not really been fortunate enough or maybe not adequately supported for that doesnt mean he can never make it. Laudrup who you favour more tasted the same league where Pellegrini has only coached in Europe and you know how far he faired. Laudrup is on the verge of lifting his 1st ever trophy, not in the same league in question, but in another league. Which you will agree with me wouldnt have been possible in the other the former league with similar club. Dont get me wrong,am not saying La liga is superior, but there is greater tendency the philosophy will record more progess when applied to Bpl. Southhampton are evolving along that mindset and philosophy in Bpl in a way that will be relatively insignificant in La liga. So with Pellegrini obviously being a better coach in terms of experience and pedigree as well as managing at the top and handling big egos...he suits Chelsea more and that will ensure we ride on a superior wavelength than Swansea,Soton and pool who are also thinking in the same direction.
Ohans
@layorh, if that first team can score 2 goals in the first half, belief me u'll pity the damage we can cause them in the 2nd half with the robust play of moses and rammy, pace, energy and defensive play.....this is to hoping rafa gets it right for our sakes. @chelseaken, Tottenham won at their turf, they can do the business in lyon, athletico are strong at home and might win at home or at most draw, they'll be out, napoli are gonners too and one of zenith st petersburg or pool will crash out, I see pool crashing out.
Desmondadonis
@ohans, I have nothing against pellegrini naturally, I have seen pellegrini's team play and I must say they play good attacking footie, but would I take him and bring him to the BPL? I don't think so, in the games pellegrini's team have played at its best, they tend to lose, he strikes me as a manager that can't cope with pressure, checkout the manner with which he is losing when it matters most from hsi villareal days (where I started seeing his team) u'll see that his teams don't have the mental capacity to scale the last hurdle, when he was with real, with so amny good stars he couldn't win copa dey rey nor the kings cup, his team scoring record wasn't impressive, (u can checkout that stat), the teams he lost to in copa dey rey, kings cup and in the UCL are an eye sore, if roman brings him, I'll support him, would I be excited by his appointment? Nope, would he be a hit for us? The jury will be out on that, but pesonally I am not just too sweet on him.......thank God I am not in the chelsea board pheeeew!
Desmondadonis
it may well be that we already have our manager in place as there was an article in the sunday times on Pellegrini rejecting City as 'he has already commited himself to a club' for next season. maybe hes behind the Cuevas deal!!!
Blue1989
@blue1989, as I said, if we sign pellegrini, I'll support him, atleast it shows the club deem him fit to take chelsea to the next level and who knows, he might start making waves with the talent we've got at our disposal, let's just wait and see
Desmondadonis
I understand your point,Desmond, and although you sound sure about what you re saying and stats may very well support your arguement,it doesnt always work that way. Stats,as goes a saying,is like a bikini: shows you alot but not the real thing. And besides, its a different league we are talking about. Laudrup didnt do all that well there too, remember?

Blue1989,can you post us the link pls, lemme take a peek on that.
Ohans
@desmond but i disagree on appointing laurdaup simply because he hasnt got the experience to manage a big club and the pressure he will have will be too much for him to handle. I have 2 choices which are both difficult they are a.klopp 2. conte both are the best at this moment and they full package . And i want conte if chelsea are trying to appoint simply because he is one of the best tactican out there. and he plays not flashy but good football. if not then as earlier discussed why not appoint Vivash as our first team coach with the help from hiddink as a DOF.

@arun. I didn't say laudrup can't cope with a big team, infact I prefer him to pellegrini, but I'll prefer adi viveash most of all with hiddink as DOF, but we all know adi won't smell chelsea's first team managerial seat next season, for obvious reasons.

@desmond,to add to Ohans' post,i think your notion of pellegrini not bein a winner is completely wrong, the man is a champion and he leaves success trails where ever he has managed,he won leagues(amongst other trophies) in chile, ecuador and argentina, his 5years stint at villareal was an historic one, although he didnt win the league in spain but he won the defunt UEFA intertoto cup with villareal in 2004 and took them to lofty heights far above the average team they use to be,he was the 2nd most succesful south american manager in laliga back in 2007..although he didnt win the league with madrid but he amassed a record breaking 96points only to lose out to an extremely brilliant barcelona team that won 6trophies that season..

Here is a little peep into pellegrini's world(excludin the madrid experience)-- http://www.realmadrid.com/cs/satelite/en/1193041516841/1202773126271/Contenido/Entrenador/Manuel_Pellegrini.htm

Thank alot Ken et Blue1989. Just made my day.

I agree entirely with Desmond with regards to having laudrup, the connection with his name is already there because of Brian. Very well respected player, that will rub off on the players. My only reservation is it may be a case of too much too soon. Let him stay with Swansea, Win the coc and take them into Europa league. For me pellegrini wins by a whisker. I am going to follow Allegri till end of the season, if they can see off barca in 2nd leg, he's a contender for me.
Blue1989
Milan could have scored even more goals, but Alegri knew how to win only by two goals, because of copiing Chelsea U19 win over Barca B. Lol
icebluelg
Ken4CFC. Barcelona won four trophies 2009-10 when Pellegrini was in Real. And 3 of them was , club word, uefa super cup and spanish super cup. Pellegrini also lost to lyon in Round of 16.
Lakupiippu
Ohans,u are welcome
Ken4CFC
@lakupipu,my bad!! I meant '4',got carried away by their record breakin year 2009!..does is lose to lyon rubbish all his achievements??then fergie is crap,he lost to basel in the group stage last season
Ken4CFC
'his loss'
Ken4CFC
Laudrup is a decent coach but lacks the experience we need at Chelsea which is why I will prefer Pelligrini over him. Moreover, if Pelligrini is not good enough for us then Laudrup cant be. My only worry with Pelligrini is language, I dont know if he can communicate well in English, if he can't then we should run from him.... I think Conte is a decent option too, as long as he can speak English... any coach who cant speak English should be avoided... Klopp is our best shot if we can get him... As for Desmond..suggesting Adi Viveash, haha! I just see that as a big joke...
Latunvic
If Wenger becomes available, I would sign in up...Manager like him is the need of the hour for us...We dont need to win any trophies for next 2-3 years, Just need to remain competitive and integrate the youth into the first team...Who is better at it than Wenger
