'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Just Be Civilized!

Stamford Bridge will certainly be an interesting place to be this Saturday.

With Rafa fuelling the fire it`ll certainly be interesting to see the supporter`s reactions.

Already the tabloid press, whether true or not, are reporting that Chelsea intend to lay on more stewards to offer Rafa a degree of protection, although we seriously doubt (and hope) if anything other than verbal baiting will occur.

Frank Sinclair, a regular guest of Chelsea TV and a player who gave everything whilst wearing our famous shirt, has given his opinion on what may be in store for Rafa, remarking on BBC Radio,

'I don't fancy being him at the weekend. All the fans will have taken it personally and I can't see it having any positive effect."

'I can't understand it. He seems like a man at the end of his tether, maybe this could be an easy way out of it.'

All we`d ask is that the protests, if forthcoming, are kept civil, the name of our club has been on the back pages, for the wrong reason, far too often this season.

a couple of my friends are going. They said they are vocally gonna support the team but said are gonna sing jose mourinhos name.
Chelsea ken
I hope they sing Jose's name. I'll be more confident he ain't coming :)
@Mq
I'ts a good shout Merlin but you know you will be ignored, the vociferous minority are more interested in dissing the manager than supporting the team. How on earth they think the players will respond to that I don't know................but then they are probably incapable of thought. As a supporter for 50 years I do wish they would keep their negative thoughts to themselves during matches and just support the team.
Ranners
Its obviously going to be civil, but very hostile. There are better ways to have requested for fans support, not in such an arrogant manner. he just finished his press briefing, and said 'I'm hoping the atmosphere will be great'...Yeah it will Rafa just wait and see.
nelyvanile
Haha @mq you're defo sure on that ain't you
Chelsea ken
Singing Joses name is supporting the team how exactly??
Blue_Mel
If the crowd are going to be hostile , I will go to the bookies a place bet on WBA right now. Not only that .. it will no doubt book us a 5th/6th place position..and you lot can kiss CL football goodbye
Blue_Mel
Judging from comments i read here since wednesday,am anxiously expectin rafa to be lynched or pelted..hope am disappointed :)

The more I look at Rafa's comments the more I think he had a bit of a point. Nowadays, the frenzy around any statement that is not cliche, or standard drivel, always seems to be disproportionate to what was actually said. I got caught up in it myself! I just don't think he is very good at PR. We all dislike him being our manager, but he is there until May regardless. So it is entirely pointless now to put up banners and chant anti-Rafa songs. They achieve nothing at all, zilch, nada, zero. So I for one will simply ignore the odious little man and support my team instead. I urge every Chelsea fan to do the same and let our players know that we are in it with them! KTBFFH
wazzygib
Keep your jose chants to yourselves and ring out the chelsea chants

How funny the world can be,the same fans who boo jose off the pitch in his last game here now desperately want him back.lol
Ken4CFC
Thumbs up to Blue_Mel, wazzygib and Ken4CFC! Some sanity exists.

As I said in another article, sing ur lungs out that we are the champions of europe, chant di matteo's name at the 16th minute, sing super frankie lampard and all the exciting songs that makes the players filled with pride all through the game, after the final whistle, boo him all u want if he still clueless
Desmondadonis
I was at the Rosenberg game and I never booed that night.i didn't boo ever at the end of a match till rafa came in gave my arse a headache and blamed his dodgy tactics and team selections on the fact he was short of options really? Not the fact he got it wrong before the start
Chelsea ken
Hahaha @desmond I'm sure that'll happen mate
Chelsea ken
@Des. If he makes a ***** sub like he did against Citeh,or wait till the 80th - 90th min to influence the game tactically then you might just hear fans roar! Its easy to say support the team and ignore Rafa,I'm sure a lot of fans have tried doing that...but how do you ignore a man in charge of the teams line up,subs, tactical approach e.t.c? Let me be clear,i do not boo Rafa and never have, but decades as a fan,you tend to learn and understand this game involves lots of emotions and passion (Joy,Love, hatred, and Anger). KTBFFH
nelyvanile
@nely, I get what u are coming from, as a fan, atimes the question pops into my mind when rafa makes some senseless subs and some disgusting tactics, that I wonder if he wants us to deliberately lose, I keep rationalizing atimes if he wants us to be weaker than we are now just for liverpool to get a better shot at making top 4 this season or next, I see the sitters torres miss and I get more firmer in my believe that they are on a mission to ruin my beloved club, I mean emile heskey as old as he is will bury majority of the chances torres keeps missing and scolar/AVBi as poor as he was while he was still with us, doesn't make meaningless substitutions in the 80-90th minute, NEVER
Desmondadonis
Rafa may need 2 borrow ba his mask!if i were in tht field, i would ignore the presence of rafa n sing loud in support of the players!
blue5
I get where u are coming from*** sorry nely
Desmondadonis
Understand you Des. A few chants for Ossie tomorrow...7 years and his memory lives on as the king of stamford bridge. Was hoping an article would be published in remembrance of a club legend. Then a few chants for Robbie 100 days since he was sacked, then we cheer the team, and Rafa should do a good job staying off my sight. Cheers to a good result tomorrow(fingers crossed).
nelyvanile
Lmao@bluemel
Ken4CFC
lets play it ear, the SB faithful are not normally in the business of booing their own team but Mr Benitez is a different animal altogether...I certainly hope the atmosphere is pleasant for the El sackico game and we go on and get a result or we could yet have Baron Greenback aka Avram Grant at the helm for the United FA cup game. KTF
JohnnyOz
I will just watch the spectacle as it unfolds tomorrow while keeping an eye on the Spurs-Gunners game. I no longer have the emotional fortitude nor interest to invest in this back and forth..the people i pity are the players especially the younglings..players like Lamps and JT have seen worse but for guys like Oscar, Moses, Eden, Ake and even Mata this has to be a nightmare..we will see how it turns out tomorrow.
GabeU
Well mr johnny the SB faithfuls are now experts in the boo business..watch out for their best exhibition tomorrow
Ken4CFC
What constitutes "civil" in this context Merlin?
SpanishBlue
Since when has the boo from Arsenal fans affect Ashley Cole while playing for Chelsea against Arsenal, JT get booed on every ground except Stamford bridge yet both players never use this as excuse to underperform, Certain section of fans has shown hostility to Rafa 'de gafa' from day one through chants and banners but that has not stopped the team from winning some games, has it? Are the hostile fans responsible for away result as well, are the fans responsible for those insane substitutions at City, Are they responsible for our team losing the CWC in Japan? Are they responsible for the team's failure to register a single goal against Swansea in both legs of the Cup game? At every game majority of the fans sing and chant player's name during the matches, they clap for them too, invectives were aimed at just one direction and it's Rafa's. I'm unequivocally against booing by fans at games because the image of the club is at stake and we know what the British media are like but I won't allow myself to be deceived that fans are responsible for the consistent inconsistencies from the team managed by Rafa. Telling fans they are 'wasting their time' is way out of order even if it's the truth, Rafa is being paid to do a job unlike the fans who are directly or indirectly paying the club. It baffles me why even the intelligent among us can't see what Rafa is doing ie blaming everyone but himself for the quandary we are in now.
RayBell
Typical Rafa, blaming the board for putting 'Interim' beside his name, the word 'interim' was on the contract he signed couple of months back, why is he rejecting it now? The fans has been hostile to him from his first game with us why has it become a problem now?
RayBell
Comments here amaze me , fine when rafa came i did not really like him , well most people did not apart from people like MQ , but when a manager newly comes to a club especially benitez , he should have tried to win over the fans to stop the little booing then , but what did he do , he drew man city ( well its man city but it is allowed ) then drew to fulham ( at stamford bridge and they nearly scored us ) then remaining matches of the year which is good( dont want to talk about japan ) , then all of a sudden 2013 , Against QPR i was eager to rip those guys apart he started marin , left hazard and mata and ASHLEY COLE on the ******** bench , my question what the ***** did he expect , it was a ******** derby then we lost we did not even draw ( reminds me when MQ insulted the life out of RDM for drawing against QPR ) then we beat stoke , ( good game ) then we ******** draw against Southampton at SB i mean who the ***** does that blew a two goal lead for that matter . And remember we played swansea two legs and i can count how many shots on goal we had with my fingers . then we blew our lead to reading again , ******** READING with less than 10 mins left and he did not bring terry on when they scored instead brought on ba . then we lose our lead to newcastle again and against man city we looked like headless chickens ( i did not mention that he played bertrand thru out on the left wing ) and some amazingly surprising substitutions YET some ******** two face *****ers will come and tell me it is the fault of the ******** fans . Are you guys and benitez crazy or sumthn ???? if you dont blame him i wonder who is to take the blame . he brought the boos upon himself
Don capon
And the worst part of it all , we have not even played some teams that always step up against us ( eg liverpool ) and you think even if we stop booing we will remain in top 4 ? common lads lets be realistic here , i mean he has done nothing to earn such time , if this was the first would say it is a coincidence but no it is not . Remember materazzi warned us about this
Don capon
And i am sorry for the rants in my first post , just trying to emphasize my point . And in my opinion using #stats i am sure RDM would have led us to at least a champions league spot and no way would we have played swansea for 180 mins and not scored a goal . imagine if we did not have the blistering start at the beginning of the season .. just imagine :(
Don capon
Then continue the boos lets see the difference it would make
Ken4CFC
^^^ you honestly believe the team's poor results is due to boos from few fans?
RayBell
You have been brainwashed by Rafa.
RayBell
Don capon People like Mq,Fv etc insulted Rdm when we won 2-0 vs Wigan away!!!! Now they are Defending Benitez!
Lakupiippu
It is so incredibly ridiculous to blame poor results on boos. For a start, it's nothing like as bad as the Media make out and secondly, at least it means there's some kind of atmosphere because it's been like a morgue at SB for some years now and frankly, a bit of noise and an atmosphere tends to help lift a home team! Didn't Rafa himself say at the beginning that the hostility would fade as he won us matches? That's about the only sensible thing he has said and of course, if we were winning matches, if we'd won even most of the games we have stuffed up under his 'management', then believe me, there would not be so much as a whisper of disapproval at SB tomorrow. As it stands, the atmosphere tomorrow will be electric and probably more hostile toward Rafa than that first game against City (where we had a taste of how awful things would become under the tactical void that is Rafa Benitez). Since that game, we have heard fans singing for Robbie (not venemous but fans chanting - again, that's called an atmosphere), a few strains of the overly melodious, tinkly and frankly somewhat gay (and certainly not very aggressive) "We don't care about Rafa" song (in no way poisonous but quite clearly in strong support of Chelsea FC and the team) and maybe some boos towards the end when we've cocked it all up again and Rafa's doing sweet FA about it (or maybe swapping a right back for a right back again). If Rafa thinks that constitutes hostile, then I almost feel sorry for him tomorrow. Other than that, it's the usual pro Chelsea and pro individual player songs so how the Hell does that account for the awful results we've had? Interesting how all the criticism comes from the ones who have never attended a football match in their lives, let alone in England or at Chelsea! If anyone wants to criticise the fans, then they should lay into the ones who get on Torres' back because that really doesn't help. No matter how badly he, or any player, is playing, you do everything you can to support and cheer them in the hope that it might pick them up and boost their confidence for the good of the team. The ones berating the treatment of Benitez are precisely the ones that would (if they ever went) hurl abuse at Torres.
SpanishBlue
Raybell, LOL exactly. Few of the VC members have been brainwashed by Rafa. That is how fickle they are. Not a surprise thought, those who can be brainwashed by @Mq, can be brainwashed by anyone. Btw, Boo Tubby. Don't care if we drop points. Our psycho owner and incompetent board should learn a hard lesson in this process.
Keyser Soze
Whilst I'm at it, why is everyone in the Press missing the point? Is it deliberate? Take this from a BBC article today: "A section of the club's supporters has been unable to forgive Benitez for his association with Liverpool, or forget the rivalry he formed with then Blues boss Jose Mourinho." - it has absolutely NOTHING whatsoever to do with that. I freely admit I don't like the bloke but there are, have been and will be in future many players and manager who I don't much like but frankly, if they are good at their jobs, I couldn't care less what they're like as a person, I'm unlikely to have any of them round to dinner or spend the evening in the pub with them! The fact is that Rafa is an incompetent manager and he has done absolutely nothing since coming to Chelsea to persuade me otherwise. He only ever opens his mouth to swap feet, the awful results with a quality squad of players strongly indicate that the tactics are not working (neither the game plan from the start nor the fact that he does nothing to change what is clearly not working), his man management is dreadful (he has already ruined Ba who arrived less than 2 months ago with confidence high and scoring goals aplenty) and I see nothing to give me so much as a glimmer of hope that he can turn this horrible slump around. Nothing is guaranteed in football but having gone up to OT for years now feeling like we had every chance of beating them, I find it very hard to imagine anything other than us getting knocked out of the Cup in a couple of weeks. I had hoped we could complete the European set as a sweetener for going out of the CL and thought we had every chance but having struggled badly to inch past Sparta Prague, winning the trophy seems like a pipe dream, even less likely than the CL last season. We have to win every league game up to and including the Sp*rs game now if we are to have any hope of finishing in the top 4 (have you seen our run in from that Sp*rs game on?!) but for the first time in years, I simply can't see us managing to put a run together to go and win such winnable games as West Brom, West Ham and Sunderland at home, Southampton and Fulham away. Rest assured, the fans WILL cheer the team and the players, so there can be no excuses there. We should be so far out of sight of Sp*rs and Arsenal that we could afford some slip ups but we're all over the shop at a time when we can't afford to drop any more points at all. The 5 point gap to the top that was unacceptable when Di Matteo was fired has become 19 and we have finally ceded 3rd position despite strengthening the squad a little in January. The players are the same, the Manager HAS to take responsibility but he is soooo arrogant that he really doesn't believe it's his fault. All I ask Rafa is that if you really are a genius, then prove it, give us a sign of your wonderful management, otherwise please don't wait 'till May, just **** off!
SpanishBlue
Of course, he won't go of his own volition because he is only there for the money. He has made it very obvious that he doesn't care one little bit about Chelsea Football Club. I get the fact that it's a career but most managers so at least pretend to care for about the club they currently work for. Funnily enough despite this disgusting me, it's about the only decent thing I can think of about the man, at least he's honest about the contempt in which he holds his employers and the Club in general!
SpanishBlue
The money and self-aggrandisement but he's blown that by being so crap that he is extremely unlikely to win any of the 5 trophies that were there for the taking! Except he hasn't blown it at all, I forgot for a moment that he hasn't damaged his reputation at all because the poor results are all my fault as a fan for not falling at his feet and worshipping at the alter of Benitez!
SpanishBlue
Not sayin the boos are responsible, just sayin it contributes..hope u got that?
Ken4CFC
@SpanishBlue, you have highlighted my bone of contention with Rafa's attitude, through his rants he just confirmed what has been the fans fear all along when they alleged he doesn't care about Chelsea when he insinuated he would be gone at the end of the season and it would be their loss not his if Chelsea is playing Europa league next season, he was saying the truth just like his friends say, just it only confirmed the fans were right about him too.
RayBell
Well if u derive in it and feel its the best way to support your team then continue lets see what impact it makes afterall i wont teach u how to support your club
Ken4CFC
This obviously has to do with more than just Rafa's incompetence... it is clearly more of a personal beef/hatred... What if our next manager happens to be as incompetent as Rafa, are we going to do the same thing????
Latunvic
*Derive joy*
Ken4CFC
Its definitely the 'agenda' rafa was talkin about in his post match outburst
Ken4CFC
Spot on Spanishblue. There you go,nicely put. Some people feel this is blind criticism but they obviously just don't get what Rafa is trying to do here. At first it was the opposition team approach in our home games, then it was the lack of squad depth(with Moses and Mikel at the AFCON),then it was the fatigue in the team(with the rate of fixture piled up),and then it was the players attitude on the pitch, now its the fans booing the team. Its absolutely irritating to see the trend of excuses littered all about. The man has not come out for once to say I got it wrong here tactically, its one excuse to the other.

Guys get it. Rafa has nothing to loss but CFC has a lot to loss if we are out of the top 4. why waste too much time on him? Go Blues nation lets channel our positive energy to push the players to give that extra 10%. 3 points tomorrow will go a long way.
jollyheart Torres
Let's not forget another excuse he has used - the players didn't take their chances and the game would be different. He has used that a few times, especially the games we have lost. So it's also the players fault, not his.
BlueABS
I am not sure he took this job for the money, I reckon he took it as a stepping stone to a permanent position in a top club. Look at me, I got Chelsea out of trouble, kind of thing. Now it's all going wrong, he is deflecting whatever he can to whoever he can, and blaming others. Makes me laugh in his press conference yesterday, about the 26 years training and coaching, he has respect, education & principles, blah, blah. He definitely realises he bit off more than he could chew, and is desperately trying to save his own future, not Chelsea's. What a *****er.
