'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Benitez Explains Terry Situation

One week he`s playing the next he`s not.

Rafa Benitez, in a slightly befuddled manner, tries to explain the battle to get our club captain fit, commenting in the media

"He went sixteen weeks without training and he`s missed some training with a problem with his knee."

"But if he can complete a normal training session with his knee, he can play more."

"He was training today (Friday). If he completes more sessions then he will be fine."

"He wasn`t playing too much, but now he`s playing more minutes and, if he continues training, he`ll have more."

"He was missing two or three sessions. We had a specific plan for him, and he couldn`t complete two or three sessions. It was taking too long."

"We had to prepare a proper plan and be sure we had all the steps in place."

"He was really pleased with the plan and was progressing. Thanks to the plan, and the job of the fitness coaches and the medical staff, he can carry on training and normally play games."

"But before it was quite difficult. He`s an important player for us."

"He has quality, he is the captain. I must know whether he can play two games a week with the intensity"

Bloody hell, talk about banging on about something simple!

@merlin..looool...but I dont know if its the injury or is it that age is finally catching up on captain JT?...I guess its too early to come to any meaningful conclusion....may be its better JT dont start playing twice a week just yet..he should build fitness to be 110% ready for the business end of the season...its looking like we'll really need him...the real JT I mean

We'll need JT more at the tail end of the season, he shouldn't push it, I know he might want to, but he shouldn't

Hold the fire Captain.... Take this opportunity to analyse the game and preparing for coaching badges... We could Hiddink to come for next season for 2 seasons before letting Terry to run the show from then on with Hiddink or Capello being his mentor.....

Definitely don't push it .... Need him for April raring to go for the business end, our next few games are winnable without him.
