An interesting stat or two!

An interesting stat or two!

Yesterday, against West Bromwich Albion, Demba Ba may have scored his first goal since January but he is still a prolific scorer when it comes to the Premier League.

It transpires that since he arrived in the Premier League, with West Ham in February 2011, he has scored 38 goals.

In that same period only Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney have scored more.

Also, Demba has now scored 6 goals against West Bromwich Albion, in the referenced period, more than he has scored against any other Premier League side.

It is an impressive goal stat considering the fact that luis suarez, gareth bale are also quality players, aguero and tevez too, its clear as daylight why he should start all our PL games till the end of the season, only if our team is well coordinated, I can imagine how many goals he'll be getting under a better man manager

I agree with u desmond. Its no brianer.... Ba should be starting every single one of our remaining EPL games. That is what any reasonable manager would do. But not rafa. He would rather continue to baby-sit and massage torres ego at the expense of our top 4 aspiration.

If there was no strict instruction mandating coaches to use Torres above any other striker,it is only a coach who hates himself who would start Torres ahead of Ba in any league game. At this point, and going by the situation we re in,one would expect every God forsaken instruction to be overlook,if not for anything, but just to safe our cl hopes. Torres may work elsewhere, here in Cfc we ought to have given up on,and we should. He isnt for us. Ba is much better...and he is under no pressure to perform. Its really nice having him though i was quite convinced before he came...am glad he did.

@akamz,The thing is even if Ba aint scoring, u'll see his hold up play which is way better than what nando is offering, with nando, a player gets to mark him out easily, but with ba, u know they'll surely be more than one who would mark him.hence he is able to give the likes of mata and hazard more space to roam. His positioning is awesome and he'll really excel with us under a better coach.. Though he can improve, what I really like about him when playing is that, u won't know if he'll score it, but u won't be certain he'll lose it like the blonde, even if it is empty net, I shudder when I review the amount of chances torres have lost and the amount of points he made us lost through his follies upfront. As everyone else has said, this is not rocket science; Ba is way and by far superior to el nino as a striker/goal scorer hence; Rafa play Ba in every BPL and frankly for me in every FA cup tie. Reserve El nino for the Europa league..case closed. If we are chasing an important game it may be worthwhile playing the two together as Rafa did when we were behind against Brentford at their place.

Ba's strength and positioning is exceptional. His instincts as a CF is well alive & he is not scared of shooting. Thank God we are in the Europa league. Torres can start in the EL games so Ba can be fresh to play the weekend EPL & FaCup games.

i feel like another drogba was born.not in the same level but his holdinup and pulling defenders for out of position reminds very much of drogba. i m always confident when BA plays up front. this provides MAZACAR more space to shoot and pass. this is why oscar had this much chances. I hope BA and lukaku can bring more glory in coming to chelsea.

Yeah, I agree about his positioning--it's very difficult to score if you don't put yourself in the right places. That's more instinct than anything. Chicharito, for example, has an amazing talent for it. Good goal scorers also don't hesitate. More than anything, that's what I like about Ba. He knows that half a chance is better than none at all. If Torres didn't hesitate he'd have twice as many goals per season as he normally does.

This Torres debate has got to stop, he is not worth our troubles. #Porres
