De Bruyne Dumps Dortmund
He got this one out of the way too. Finally. We won't get to hear it again.
Kevin De Bruyne doesn't want to go to Borussia Dortmund! Although how the German outfit thought the Belgium international still wants to make the move after assurances from Mourinho was laughable and near ludicrous.
Jose Mourinho only recently made it clear he has no intentions of selling or loaning out the promising midfielder to the Champions League finalists, or any other club, and apparently everyone got it right except Dortmund's Director of Football, Michael Zorc, who a couple of days ago was still going on about how De Bruyne 'wants to join' them, on a five-year contract!
Well it appears that was a pipe-dream after all as the 21 year-old has put paid to all that through his agent Patrick De Koster who has now confirmed talks between Mourinho and Kevin, saying,
"Mr Mourinho gave a phone call to Kevin, explaining a little bit the situation for next season."
"We didn`t receive any guarantees, but it`s normal in a team like Chelsea. It`s up to him to prove like he did in the last 18 months."
"Kevin wants to play. Playing football, he became a better football player. I think he proved it staying six months more in Genk and last season in Bremen."
"He did very well. Now it`s up to him to prove the same thing at Chelsea."
It could be recalled De Bruyne, who is yet to kick a ball for Chelsea, arrived from Genk in January 2012 in a £6.7m deal and was immediately sent on loan to another German outfit Werder Bremen in 2012/13 where he became a key feature playing in 33 out of their 34 Bundesliga matches and scoring 10 times as well as providing 9 assists, and having proved himself in one of Europe`s top leagues Chelsea (Mourinho actually) knows there is no reason to doubt the attacking midfielder can now transfer that ability to the Premier League.
Now that all these silly rumours and paper bovine about our long-term players like Kevin, Mata, Ramires et al are getting thrown out of the way forward, left, right and centre, and we could now move on to more pressing issues like pre-season and squad reinforcement who said there ain't happy, special and stable times ahead?
What are your thoughts you Blues? With Mourinho also giving the nod to 20 year-old Romelu Lukaku and said to be vigorously pursuing 19 year-old Marco Van Ginkel, do you reckon he is on the right track building his squad with so many youngsters?
