An Opportunity Lost?

Now that Chelsea have announced that Mark Schwarzer has been acquired, for free, one can only speculate how John Ruddy is feeling.

The Norwich City keeper had been the subject of a one, possibly two, bids from Chelsea, offers that were rejected by his club.

Nobody knows how the situation would have turned out if Chelsea and Norwich had reached the point whereby Ruddy would have been asked if he fancied a move to Stamford Bridge, but I just can`t help feeling that Ruddy, although probably perfectly happy at Carrow Road, might well have jumped at the chance.

Unfortunately, the opportunity to do just that has just passed him by!

We can only guess! The club moved for Schwarzer once Norwich rejected two bids I guess. Nonetheless we have a good backup now.

Ruddy would not be a happy man at all......... this kind of opportunity comes only once.

Schwarzer only signed for a year...there is still a small chance we may go back for Ruddy next and Hilario (if he stays on) are both 40yrs!!!...

It might be an opportunity he'll rue for life, such offers don't come every year and this is a team that promise silverware one way or the other, unfortunately for him, he might never get this kind of opportunity anymore

Its an opportunity passed somehow but he's still a young goalkeeper and if he keeps is head down and become better more opportunity might arrive but I bet he would be a lil sad wit dis one

Don't think he'll be too worried about not getting silverware for sitting on the bench every week unless Chech gets injured and losing any chance of going to the World Cup. He may miss the extra wad of cash that Roman may have thrown his way but I'm sure he'd prefer to be playing every week and getting better. I'm sure you or another of the 'big' clubs will be back for him in the future.

Off topic, Kalas, KDB and Lukaku will be in the squad for next season after successful loan spells! Good news for Kalas. GO CHELSEA GO! GO MOURINHO GO! And whoever said Jose doesn't trust youth, do some rethinking haters!

Really BOTUM? Kalas in there? Well, @this point I guess it's safe to say those "rethinking haters" got their 'info' all bottom-up, so to speak ;) Thanks for sharing.

HGH Magic, it's actually in the official website Jose himself confirming.

Ruddy is better off staying with Norwich. He would have been on the bench most of the season with us.

@HGH was expecting omeruo instead of kalas just because of nationality that's why he didn't believe...taking into consideration that they both played in the same eredivisie and kalas was rated well above kenneth by the dutch I think kalas deserves the chance now, omeruo should use his next loan spell to improve better,he would have a future with us if he improves

Why is it important if Mourinho never trusted youth in the past? What's with the need to get defensive? Ferguson trusted youth. Mourinho has not been that kind of coach. If Abramovich wants youth intergration Mourinho will have to do it.

His loss is our gain, happier spending less on the more experianced Schwarzer!

Schwarzer will be a reliable back-up who is proven in the PL. He's cost nothing so good deal for both him and CFC.
