Barcelona Court Thibaut

Barcelona Court Thibaut

Our talented young Belgian keeper continues to attract attention whilst on loan at Atletico Madrid.

Thibaut Courtois, seen as the logical successor to the legend that is Per Cech, is now beginning to attract the attention of Barcelona.

The Catalan giants see Courtois as the successor to Victor Valdo and are keen to instigate a transfer to enable Courtois to be at the Nou Camp in time for next season.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea are tempted to do a deal or simply stick two fingers up at one of our greatest European rivals.

come May 2014 we have to make a decision, especially as Courtois is refusing to sign a contract extension...

We must be extremely rigorous about this as we are not Tottenham or Arsenal, and we must prove that we will keep our best/most talented players under any circumstance and by any means necessary. He has three years to run on his contract so we MUST NOT consider any harassment from the Spanish club, no matter if he actually asks for a move or not. I think he could surpass Cech this year and would get a realistic shot at a place in our team anyway.

He should be standing in between posts for us next season. We thank Cech for his hard work for Chelsea. He should understand that since he also took over the No. 1 spot from Cudicini prior to this. City did that to Given for Hart... Cech could be our back-up and plays in the Cup game...

now the club has to be "sly"....either give Courtois verbal "assurances" that he's replacing Cech next season to get him to sign a contract extension so that we still have "control" over him, or give Cech a 3 year contract then come May 2014 Courtois takes over...only then can Cech be the sub keeper and if he wants out we get decent moola

Barca wont get TC on cheap, bcos even if chelsea decided to sell him, there will be a bidding war between RM & Barca...Either way chelsea will gain....But, personally i dont want us to sell him...Get the extension signed and assure him that he can spend next 1-2 yrs on loan in EPL & then replace Cech in 2 yrs

And the Barca fanboy m.asq.uerading as a Chelsea fan starts his usual bouts of knee-jerk trolling and spamming the thread simply because farcelona was mentioned. LOLest ;) Believe Chelsea [read, farcelona's nemesis] will ever sell farcelona any, read my lips, ANY YOUNG PLAYER [except a retiring old one like the Gudjohnsens of this club] AND YOU'LL BELIEVE ANY BS IN THE WORLD! Courtois stays blue alongside his numerous compatriots, and succeeds Cech come 2014! Simples. You think Mourinho is as dumb and as clueless as Pep in the "transfer tavern" who frittered away £45m plus a then 28-year-old Samuel Eto'o to get a 'dud' misfitting asset as Zlatan then you sure have got another think coming! End of.
