'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Just What Is Going On?

I awoke this morning almost knowing that the weekend will go down in the diary as a weekend I`d rather forget.

Yesterday, things went from bad to worse. Losing to Stoke City, via late goal, was bade enough to stomach but then watching the Chelsea supporting boxer, Darren Barker, have his IBF middleweight belt ripped from his grasp in such a cruel manner only served to heighten my despair.

Resting my head on my pillow I hoped that some sleep would ease the pain but I was fearful of waking up to find out the Ashes had all but been ripped from our grasp as well. As it turned out that wasn`t quite the case, although a miracle is needed to ensure we don`t go 2-0 down in the five test series, all we can hope for is a lot of rain.

So, having been treated so poorly, on the sports front this morning, I thought that things couldn`t get any worse, but they have!

Flicking through the pages of the Sunday press, I noticed that match-fixing has grasped the headlines with several pages being devoted to a player called Sam Sodje and the case of earning 70,000 for purposely getting sent off whilst playing for Portsmouth.

Now, I`ve gone from being seriously peeved to absolutely gob-smacked. We can only hope that those in charge clamp down on anyone found of being involved in this skulduggery is dealt with as harshly a s possible, how dare they taint our wonderful game in such a way!

The defeat to Stoke was a mood spoiler for sure.
