'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Reporting Abuse!

Regulars to our site will recall that, not too long ago, I instigated a drive to rid the site of those who simply see it to be a vehicle through which they can insult other members.

It seemed to calm things down for a few weeks before, slowly but surely, those same people worked their way back into our community.

Last week, you may have noticed that a report abuse facility was introduced. Now many of you credited me with this initiative. Now although I`d love to take the credit, it is in fact an initiative driven and implemented by Vital HQ, across all the sites.

Its aim is to rid the network of the dross who lack the common decency to treat the network as a mainly football driven entity and not a network where cyber warriors can get off on one by insulting others.

Now the initiative may only have been in force for a few days but already it is working. As far as Vital Chelsea goes, we`ve already seen a couple of members lose their membership for flouting the decency rules and to others who think they can simply insult people, calling them morons and such like, you too will receive the same punishment, dished out with my blessing by Vital HQ.

You`ve been warned, ignore it at your own peril.

Just a quick question. When someone always degrades our players and wants somebody new fired every game, is that abuse?
Pavel Permiachkin
No! We all have our own opinions on players, ABUSE is when you INSULT another member be it on here or on another Vital site!
Ok then I assume if I look out for insults of a player that would count?
Pavel Permiachkin
I think this "report abuse" feature is an excellent forward step. It is be to lauded in every way. It should continue to be effective as long as the response to the reporting remains robust
Laudable. #VCPolice
@Merlin...I asked during the matchday thread if these posts could be listed with most recent at the top to save all the scrolling down. It met with support from others. Did you see the idea and can it be arranged?
I'll ask HQ!
@Merlin, can you also ask the HQ to include a 'Thumbs Up' or 'Thumps Down' buttons, so users can rate comments?
@RomansArmy pushing your luck a little more there man... LoooL!!!!
We are going to add likes for comments, not sure how soon. Not sure re dislike ones!! Also we are going to do comments so after x amount, they go onto a new page, so easier to follow. I have notes re the order of comments and people having them either as they are, or as you say above, the last post at top. Not totally sure if/when we will get to that if I am honest, we are a real independent, read that as under resourced and over stretched!! But we are looking to evolve the comments. As said, definitely a like feature and a new page once so many comments made. Not sure how many yet, maybe we can custom set it to the eds choice. Maybe per 50 or so.
The Fear
thank you for the feedback...sorry if I hijacked the thread!
@pavel would he have to break your head and insert the article before you understand what it means? Or are you looking for a way you and your friend, HGH Magic, can circumvent it and continue showing of your talents? Give him a break please!
@Merlin extend my job welldone to vital HQ. However, I suggest they include banning of Ip address too and use of proxy... Thanks.
Showing Off
@Killerpass, I'm looking forward to reporting @pavel. It's shocking that he hasn't been barred yet. I'll bet that he will return with the abusive comments in about 2 weeks time. He can't resist it. #VCPolice
RomansArmy wonder he is asking question and trying to twist the article to suit him and his friends' propaganda here on VC....welldone merlin, thanks for clearing that up,now those "know alls" that would never stand other people's opinions should watch out,cos am enrolling for the "RomansArmy";)#VCpolice
I think insult to CFC players and everything the club stands for should be regarded as an abuse. Criticism is fine, but using abusive words on club legends and any player in Chelsea blue is a disrespect to the code and honour of our darling club. Good job Merlin and VC HQ.
Awwww this thread just got so cute :)
Pavel Permiachkin
hey @the fear mate please we don't the comments to go to another page. I appreciate all our comments being on the same page
agree with Nely
Actually , Im not sure that LIKES/DISLIKES butons are a good idea. In my opinion , they only lead to abuse in themselves. I see perfectly good comments get "disliked" and "totally insane" or "abusive" comments get "LIKED" . In a conversation in person in real life we dont get nor need each and every comment to be "rated" so why on here ? I dont believe its necessary will only be a downward negative move
thanks and well done Merlin & Vital HQ...... also, I agree with Blue_Mel.....I'm more worried about abusive comments getting thumbs up, than good comments getting thumbs down..... but hey there's also "report abuse"...... so I think the thumbs up and down idea worth testing...... and if you leave the customizations to the site editor (for example, Merlin), then it would be great, in case when/if things get ugly (such as abusive comments get thumbs up)
The Persian
@ThePersian...why do you feel that comments need to be rated by a thumbs up or thumbs down? THe conversation / debate - other peoples contributions will determine how good a comment is seen by the reponse it gets . We dont need it in everyday conversation... so I just dont see the justification for it on here way or the other. People can either agree or disagree with what they post. In my opinion thumbs up / thumbs down only invite people to be "abusive " but in an anonymous way without any responsibility. Eg Someone could consistently thumbs down one persons comments without it registering as abuse and no way of detecting it (as far as i know)
lol killerpass dude, I see you're so starstruck you can hardly blab, blabble, spurt or sputter, as usual, without mentioning your idol's name. How nice! Keep it up lol
HGH Magic
Blue_Mel - you are right... we don't need our comments to be rated as you said....... but I'm sure If someone posts a good comment and gets some thumbs ups, it would encourage him/her to contribute in healthy debates (especially if he's a new member)............. though the thumbs down matter that you said can turn out very wrong....... so what if there was only "thumbs up" or "like" ??
