Dutch Trio for English Trio?
Well, finally an interesting one has been served! A buffet...
Dutch news sources are running with the inference Chelsea are in the running for a collection of three stars of one of the giants of Dutch football, Ajax, that Jose Mourinho sees as ideal replacements for Frank Lampard, John Terry and Ashley Cole.
The Amsterdam Arena based stars include 24-year-old Swiss born Dutch international attacking midfielder(or striker), Siem De Jong who is famous for being a constant source of goals and assists over the last three and a half seasons, helping the Eredivisie champions to three consecutive titles in the process; 28-year-old Finnish international centre-back, Niklas Moisander who is solid on the tackle with great ball anticipation and retention, strong in the air and good on the ball as would be expected of a Dutch-trained footballer, and a cheaper replacement for Terry; and 23-year-old left-back Daley Blind, son of the Ajax legend Danny, who is not only pacey, technical and experienced but may also be well suited to take over from Cole, and is definitely a cheaper option to the pricey Southampton left-back, Luke Shaw who keeps being linked with Chelsea.
Right now details of the deal are sketchy, but Ajax being famed for selling their best players for bigger European clubs seem favourably disposed, as head coach Frank de Boer is said to be considering their replacements already.
With a plethora of Brazilians already at the club, and the potential this has to bring nothing short of four first team players to our supremely talented squad, are Chelsea fans bracing up for a potpourri of Samba+Total Football in the years to come? Hmmm, yummy!
But hey, these deals are said to be lined up for the summer; so don't go jumping out of that happy skin just yet.
