Mata - Bayern Bound?

Mata - Bayern Bound?

If, come this time next year, Juan Mata is still a Chelsea player, I`ll eat my proverbial hat.

Today there is strong speculation, in the Sunday Mirror, that Juan could be on the way to the Allianz Arena.

It`s reported that Pep Guardiola is keen to land the talented player as he reshapes the already formidable Bavarian side into something that resembles his own unique style of football.

Guardiola, it is also said, won`t be making a bid this January as Mata is already cup-tied when it comes to the Champions League.

A fee of £20 million is mentioned with it also being intimated that although Mourinho and Guardiola are not the best of mates, Mourinho would sanction the sale come next summer.

Your thoughts would be most appreciated.

At £20 million you'd want a lot of ketchup to swallow such a bid, never mind a hat. A realistic bid would be £35 million, & that is only because he's not an automatic pick. But you never know, one or two injuries & he could find himself starting every game & winning..- well who knows what? Might be hard to leave with a 2nd C.L. medal in his pocket.

if mata goes to byern then he is a big joker, staying with cfc and fight for your position is better than going to bench warmer at byern.

Nonsense. If he cannot bench Oscar or Willian here so he is going to bench muller, gotze , ribery or Roben ? What bullsht. The guy needs to seat tight and fight for his place here. The grass is not greener on the Bayern side were competition is more fierce

If Mata doesn't want to leave,he's not the man I thought he was.Game after game sitting on the bench, with Jose having no interest in him,the bloke has to leave. One plus point for him if he stayed is that he would be very fresh for the World Cup as he'll not have played any football. That's if he's picked.

£20m is ok for a bench warmer. Let him go. Free Mata. I'm sure another club will appreciate him.

Dortmund would be better for Mata or maybe a return to Valencia..

Haaa . I was one of the first to explain why Mata doesn't fit the JM system and now he is on the way out. I weakly doubt Bayern is the destination, but 20 M is an insult. No way he is moving for that. If he doesn't move in January surely he will this summer. Now let's get Matic and put him with MVG or Luiz.

Mata for £20m is a joke. The annoying thing is, Jose never plays Mata as the #10 - a position he tends to shine, he is clearly struggling on the wings, I dont just get it tbh.

Problem for players like Mata is you have to be a Maradona/Messi/Baggio/Zidane/Del Piero. Otherwise like Riquelme, Rivaldo, Aspirilla, and Zola....you are that exceptional talent that is only good for teams that are 3rd/4th place. Mata's biggest problem will be finding a big team where he can command a regular jersey. Barca, City, Real, Bayern while Arsenal and Atletico are questionable so maybe United, Dortmund. Not even sure at Juventus. His only realistic chance is to buckle down and work on his defense here at Chelsea. Get that going and lock down a spot....work after training. Otherwise how do you dislodge Iniesta and how is he going to ward off the likes of Koke in the national team?
