'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Are Chelsea Courting Kurt?

With Nemanja Matic having been signed, I suspect that our January transfer window signings may well be complete.

I may be wrong though, it has been known to be the case (many times) I might add.

If I have assessed the situation wrongly, perhaps one of the possible incomings could be the Saint Etienne centre back Kurt Zouma.

It would appear, if the press are correct, Mourinho has made personal contact with the 19 year old with the player remarking to the media,

"I thought it was a wind-up at first but I soon took it seriously."

"It`s a real pleasure that a great man like Jose Mourinho chooses to phone a young player like Kurt Zouma."

"Something like that doesn`t happen every day."

I`d imagine the youngster was taken aback.

It`s intimated that Zouma will be leaving Saint Etienne in the summer with the player adding,

"I have a deal with Saint Etienne that lets me leave in June."

"But if they tell me to go to Chelsea I will go straight away - particularly now the manager has called me. Besides, blue is my favourite colour,"

Interestingly, Zouma is currently suspended with the six feet three inches tall defender serving a 10 game ban for a tackle that broke an opponent`s leg.

The lad seems quite a character!

he havent yet provided kalas and omeruo with chances so not necessary to buy another young cb. But no harm in buying with our new philosophy of loaning then using or selling.

I have no problem with us buying him and even having him join immediately this january. Omeruo and Kalas can play at right back too so KURT-ING Zouma ticks all the boxes for me. If you consider all factors, you'll realize that it makes sense buying him. I mean, the form of Iva has not been excellent this season so i'd easily put Cesar ahead of him and if young Kenneth does his homework well, he could dislodge him (Iva) as number 2 at right back. Same for Kalas. John Terry is not also getting any younger and replacing him a young energetic player gradually could be far more advantageous. The transfer of this young lad could spell the end of Luiz too especially if Barcelona or Bayern make a sizeable bid for him. Trust Jose on this one. In other news, Bertrand is joining Aston Villa on loan till the end of the season. This got me by surprise. Does it mean the young man has no future at the bridge or this world cup fever thing again? I really hope not. All the best to him though.

if it is true and jose has called Zouma directly this January then he has had to get permission fromt he parent club to do so otherwise it is a serious breach of tapping up that Zouma has spilled to the press. As we have also heard his agent talking about cfc I wouldn't be surprised to this happen and him loaned back till the summer. Also im sure we would have heard Zouma's club come out moaning about jose by now if he was illegally tapping up a player of another club.

I believe we'll sign him on a five and a half year deal like we did with kdb and loaned him back to Genk, zouma has a potential to be the best in the world if properly handled.
