We Were Proven So Wrong!

We Were Proven So Wrong!

Before the kick-off, the general consensus of opinion, on Vital Chelsea, was that we`d have preferred Fernando Torres to be selected ahead of Samuel Eto`o.

Our reasoning was that Torres, somehow, always seems to give Nemanja Vidic a hard time.

As it turns out and as usually is the case, the 'Special One` was proven correct with Eto`o helping himself to a hat-trick as our strikers kept up their record of scoring in every fixture this year.

But why did Jose Mourinho select Eto`o ahead of Torres?

After the game Jose explained, to the media, why, remarking,

'Fernando is very dangerous with space, more powerful than Samuel, and I thought Manchester Untied were not coming to give me space, they came here to be compact. I thought Samuel was someone with more technical abilities and more movement in small spaces. It was a difficult decision but my feeling was for this game Samuel was more adapted.'

Sometimes, or should that be most times in Jose`s case, those gut feelings are proven correct which I guess is what makes him special.

Jose knew what he was doing! I was surprised, too, that he chose Eto'o.

No surprises for me. Jose is very in touch in touch with his players. I don't believe that any other recent manager could have done with this squad what Mourinho is accomplishing. I don't always understand what he's doing at the time, but I DO trust that he does.

AVB nearly achieved a better result. We were 3-0 up and looking strong, but we foolishly conceded some penalties and the rest is history

From what jose said, it's clear it is not about just gut feeling but that he has very good reasons for choosing eto'o ahead of fernando. Fernando might be sad at first but with samuel's display, he would even respect his coach decision more (cue mata)

I too was a lil surprised to see Eto'o start, would have preferred Torres, but i totally understood why Eto'o started pretty similar to the scouser concept...We all have to admit though,Jose has a way of shutting us up,he knows best.

Really happy for Eto'o. However I wish Torres will be back in time when we face City because we need his pace and aerial power to play counter attack...

I am just glad that Jose made the right decision no one can really see coming. And very glad zg2000 wasn't there afterwards with his hindsight crystal ball attacking people for just thinking it's weird Eto got the nod over Torres.

Great result. I went to the game with several friends and we were all surprised that Torres was not started. But hats off to Jose it proved to be the correct decision. Only downside of the day, was the amount of times that both Azpi and Ivanovic got caught either out of position or flat footed throughout the game. They were both continually chasing shadows and had average games. Ashley must wonder what he has done wrong.

Come on man don't ignore the fact that Dave has looked better than Cole and Cole having a not so good season all together in general. But Jose's persistence with Iva at RB is quite annoying I agree. I did not even know Iva was fully fit already until the team was announced and regardless was surprised to see him start again so soon and against Man U.

Pavel - are you seriously this deluded and full of personal hate for me that even after I am away for a full week and not post 1 comment, you find time to post about me and what I would supposedly do like you know me???? What is wrong with you? Besides, if you are such an avid follower of mine, then you should surely know that a couple of games ago I said Eto'o will start banging them in, and he did that game, and he did now. So PLEASE, AGAIN, PLEASE, stop with your attacks and insights about me. Just stop. You look like a child.
