Official! Mata Completes Manchester United Move

Ok, so this isn't my last article. Sue me.

Juan Mata has finally completed his move to Manchester United this evening for an estimated £37.1 million. He flew into Manchester today, met with David Moyes and some of the players and is now a United player. A sad day for us all.

He did, however, leave us all a little piece to remember him by. I haven't seen something like this from a player before and I thought, despite the outbursts against him for moving to United, it was a nice touch.

Mata wrote an open letter to the Chelsea fans on his blog. The article can be found here- Click Here

Some highlights from the letter:

Mata: 'This letter is written from my heart, and first of all I would like to say that I will never forget all the affection given to me by the Chelsea fans. From the very first day until the last'

Mata: 'Thank you so much for the way you have treated me, you have been unbelievable. I hope you understand that after going through a complicated and, for me, new situation in the last few months, I believe this is the best choice in order to carry on with my football career and to keep enjoying this sport.'

Mata: 'I would like to emphasise the affection, admiration and respect that I`ve had for my former team mates since the first day. I want to thank the captains for their help and understanding at all times.'

Mata : 'I would have liked to say good bye to all of you in the stadium, or in a press conference, but it has not been possible. I`m sure I will be able to do it in the future, because that is what you deserve.'

All credit goes to Mata's blog.

A few good words to end this chapter.

Up the Blues!

Seeing him in Utd colours is like seeing photos of the "one that got away"'s wedding photos. Can't say I've ever been this bummed about losing a player of such ilk. It would have been so much easier if he was totally mean about everything. So that's that then huh...

Thank you and goodbye juan! All the best!

Find it so very sad that juan has left ..Do not get the logic behind this... wish him all the best for his career.. Great Player..!!!

MATA'S LETTER TO CHELSEA FANS: This letter is written from my heart, and first of all I would like to say that I will never forget all the affection given to me by the Chelsea fans. From the very first day until the last. With your support and affection I have grown up as a player and I have had an amazing time both on and off the pitch. I will always feel the gratitude towards you. Always. Every message I got through the social media, every nice word you have said to me on the street, and of course, your support in the stadium, has made me feel incredibly proud of the Chelsea fans; you deserve a team like the one you've got, with so many fantastic players. I won't forget the faith you put in me when I was given the player of the year award the last two seasons. I feel really proud and I will never forget those nights. Thank you so much for the way you have treated me, you have been unbelievable. I hope you understand that after going through a complicated and, for me, new situation in the last few months, I believe this is the best choice in order to carry on with my football career and to keep enjoying this sport. Before last summer, my intention was to stay here for a long time; as long as the club wanted me to, and to keep winning trophies for Chelsea FC. This is how happy I was in the club and in the city. However, as you all know, things changed after the preseason. From feeling like an important player, I started to experience some difficult situations and I felt unable to help the team to the extent that I wanted and was used to . Obviously, I fully respect the circumstances. Football is a team sport and it's not easy to play regularly in such a good squad. In sports you may win or lose, but the most important thing is to give everything. I hope you know and feel that I have always done so. In every game, in every training session, without exception. I have always tried my best for the club. I want to make clear that the stage that now comes to an end has been extremely important for me, personally and professionally. Although many of you, like myself, never thought this moment would come, this is football and a new chapter is about to begin. I would have liked to say good bye to all of you in the stadium, or in a press conference, but it has not been possible. I'm sure, i will be able to do it in the future, because is what you deserve. Evidently, today is a day of mixed feelings, remembering the past and looking forward to the future and what it has to bring. I look forward to being happy and to enjoy what I like the most: play football. I will never forget my time in Chelsea and the affection I take with me, I will keep forever. I wish you the best. A big hug to all of you. THANK YOU so much, Juan

It'll be xo sad seeing Mata try 2 mark Hazard next season...it wont be a fun sight at all..just why United
blueaddict

Goodbye juan,am gonna miss you!!...
Ken4CFC
Very emotional letter from the chap, you can tell he wrote that all choked up and emotional. He obviously didn't want to leave, but it was based on a professional decision. Wish him the best in his future endeavors, obviously don't wish his new club well. Adios Amigos!
nelyvanile
Very sorry to see him go.
RadioactiveD
We just having a blip this year, he knows we are the biggest institution in football thats y he came to us. He was forced out to save his career. He had no choice.
ForeverUnited
I enjoyed watching him play for us. He gave us that final pass that we had been missing. Unfortunately, he was a defensive liability and the opposite of "physical". The game has changed from the Spanish tiki taka to a hybrid of skilled technicians and pacey, physical attackers. Who would Mata have replaced? That's the bottomline. Sorry to seem him go regardless, not so much as I hated to see Ballack's contract not renewed, but Juan seemed to be a class individual and a classy assist-master.
rockhead
A class act on and off the pitch, I feel his words are heart-felt and sincere, he's not just doing this to save face.I wholeheartedly wish him all the best for the rest of his career
BlueBlaze
Habbo thankfully your a minority, you'll never have the class Mata has, ever. As a player he was fantastic for us, as a person a complete gentleman. I'll always show him respect when I see him again. Utd have got themselves a bargain, will miss Mata immensely.
Ghost
Personally i can't forget so easily all your contributions and love for this great club. You are indeed a true gently man. I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST IN YOUR PRESENT AND FUTURE ENDEAVORS, EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE NOW IN A RIVAL CLUB. Bravo...
SuNny C Ejiofor
sad day in the history of chelsea....watching such a topclass player forced to leave to a rival....all the best mata no matter what... you will always be in our heart...you are the best and you will be...as i said before also its chelsea lost not yours...still cant believe it that you wont wear the blue jersey...will miss you...
shlok27
and mr jose now all your wish has got granted...you got rid of mata and kdb as you want...you better win pl or cl this season..nothing less than that...because if you wont then get ready to face the music and we will make sure that music will be painful becasue you have already fecked our team with your selfish attitude and now if you wont win us anything then leave chelsea and never come back....
shlok27
Great player... very cool guy....You can feel his emotion in this letter and tell that he was indirectly forced out. Juan, Even though you spent just two years here, they were two great years.... you made history with Chelsea FC and you will forever be respected and loved by the Chelsea family....They say you are not a legend, well, leave them to keep debating that..for us, you have achieved and contributed what many legends never did... Whether you are a legend or not makes no difference to us... you have done great things for this club... you are one that will forever be remembered as part of the greatest moments in the history of this great club... So sad to see you leave but that's life, some things we just can't understand or explain.... Wish you all the best Juan Mata!
Latunvic
I would just like to say that Juan was a very special player that was extremely intelligent and professional. A special person. With that being said, I fully expected him to be sold as he was never going to fit the JM system. Regardless, he is still a great player but needs to play in a system that benefits him. So, thank you for your service. Good luck against everyone but CFC...but we are still going to kick Man U's ass. I support the team...not the player.
lamarochs
Morinho to be forgiven on two conditions 1.get us rooney 2.win me the league,fa and cl...
Puremikel
Who? If you don't play for Chelsea you can fek off! Metaphorically of course!

He's letter has made me emotional now when i was just trying to move on . He's a real classy man. ManUre for sure doesnt deserve a player n person of his quality and class
Blue Krusaders
Sh*t happens I guess....... Time to move on and focus on the positives....... Thank YOU Juan Mata.....
DonDhammih
You have not seen anything yet. This man wants to clear the whole team so he can say he bought all the players and build the team all by himself. Watch out for lukaku, luiz, Oscar and hazard etc exit. still makes me said each time I see mata, no player has ever made me sad this way.
Killerpass
special player for CFC, and a top lad, wish hi. bad luck whenever he plays against us like Torres when he plays pool, time to move on and support actual Chelsea players
Desmondadonis
So,so,so,sad..... This to me is one of the saddest days of our dear club since we sacked RDM and employed Rafa.In fact this one arguably sort of tops that.I still believe we could have gotten the best from Mata and Oscar and Hazard and STILL win games as much,or even better, than we have done already. It's true I could get over this with time, but I'ld never forget this sad period. This is a testament to the fact that football isn't a 'family game' anymore where teams and clubs had been one big family with that certain quality of communal harmony, and respect and mutual honour within them. The so called proffessionalism in this game has sort of eroded the collective loyalty to one another, that players and managers put themselves and ideals first before the team.
Samuel Chimezie
To me Mata had been one of the last few examples of opposer of such trend,by always being positive and putting his team first whether he played or not. That is the mark of a true gentleman.I doubt that like Mata is simply a guy like RDM,gentle, humane, and wanting less contraversies that not.So if Mou actually influenced his leaving(albeit in a sly and indirect way) since he didn't fit into his system,Mata is hardly the kind of person who would come out and criticise the club nor Mou,because of what Chelsea means to him and also because of his personality, the same way RDM kind of did
Samuel Chimezie
habbo, Abramovich will sort Mourinho out soon enough.

But like is expected, though hard it may be for some and easy for others,we have to move on,still Mata would always remain in our hearts(mine especially)...... Adios señor! Gracias!

A sad loss to our club, not least in the stylish footballing sense, something I thought was a prime aim for this club and owner. Jose had better know what he is doing, because this could come back to bite him big time. For me, Jose has not come out of this smelling of roses, he has gone down in my estimation, his orchestration of this has not been good to witness.
BlueABS
Lukaku next, he has already pi**ed Jose off, so he will become a make-weight in a new striker in the summer.
BlueABS
Kudos to Mata with his letter. Class act as a man and a footballer. Most players would have one line quote in the press, but Juan explains eloquently in a letter, his love for all things Chelsea, and his reasons. Will miss him.
BlueABS
Will miss you Juan. Now that I've heard you own version of the story, I can now move on. Wish you good luck in your career, but not your new club.
RomansArmy
The FA Cup is not good enough. It should be the PL or CL. If Mourinho doesn't those he should be sacked.
foreign_viewer
Thank you Andre for giving me the opportunity to join Chelsea FC. Without your support, none of this would have happened. To Robbie and Rafa, for their unlimited trust in me. And to Jose, for making me a stronger player, because in difficult moments, I have learnt to remain positive and to keep working hard. Lastly, I want to thank the Club, and in particular its owner, Roman Abramovich, for trusting me and making an important investment when signing me.
RomansArmy
Perfect gentleman. Classy.

A trophyless season should be enough to sack Mourinho. Even Benitez won something. RDM won the CL and FA Cup. Let's see if Mourinho can match that.

Thank you Juan for everything you did. Now Jose has got the players he wants to play his way, he should win the CL or PL at least
Rip The Reds Apart
shlok,if you really believe Jose has "fecked"(and we all know what you mean when you say fecked)our team up then you are a fecking numpty. Jose is all about what is right for the "team" and unfortunatly for you, as far as a Jose team goes, your idea of football is different to his. And fortunatly for me your not in charge, Jose is. Do you really think you understand the game better than, in my opinion, one of the best managers in the world. If you were in charge of chelsea would we be top of the EPL and not only two points off the top? Come on man get a grip and trust that he knows what he is doing. You call him selfish, is that because he gets what he wants when it comes to picking which players he thinks will do best for "OUR TEAM"? If so then understand this THATS HIS JOB. Let him do his job, as he is very good at what he does, and stop being such a child! Lets ALL get behind Jose. He will bring success, he needs our support. There are enough people out there that want him to fail and as Chelsea fans we must not join them. Cheer us on though the sun and rain and have faith.
BIG_R
Just because Jose allowed Mata to go, he has to win CL or PL. What kind of demand is that? Some people here think winning CL is like plucking flowers off the bush. LOL he is building a team for future, if we land PL this season that would be 1 of the amazing achievement.
Keyser Soze
LOL Tunez, seconded mate. So pls make that 9 "wonderful slaps" to the fecking foreign_numpty, will yer? Wonderful slaps, now that's a very funny new one. ROTFLMAO ;)
HGH Magic
*can't stop laughing mate* Wonderful slaps lol
HGH Magic
The future is now. He should win or go. Other managers won trophies while he was ruining Madrid.

Thank u Juan Mata for this amazing emotional farewell letter. His class and love for this club and fans shines through. What a genuinely good player and human being and deserves nothing but love and respect from us. I will terribly miss seeing him play in a blue shirt. His contributions in our historic Munich triumph in the CL league along with FA and EL cups makes him a hero and forever be part of our history. ............All this and more have been so wonderfully covered in his emotional message to us where he thanked everyone connected to the club from top to bottom over the course of his 2 and half year stay. It is indeed a sad day. It was a reluctant move from Juan, he blames the circumstances more than anyone in particular, and thought Man U move was best for all concerned at this moment. He begins a new chapter and we at Chelsea football club need to do the same. Thank u for all the memories Juan and best of luck in your future career. #ktbffh #cfc #carefree #UptheChels
syed230183_chelseafc
nice post big_R its a pleasure to know that there are still intelligent posters on Vc, wtf? with demands and all. lols this is Chelsea fc, not mourinho or mata fc, mata is not a part of the club anymore so I don't care what happens to him at man utd, but as an individual I say thank u to him for his years of service and some good football last season, now let's hope Oscar would improve and repay Jose faith with quality perfomance week in week out not the stuttering performance he is dishing recently, else the pitch forks would be out enmass, we'll win a trophy this season for sure.
Desmondadonis
If we always say Mata doesn't suit Jose's style then we are a bit of hypocritically justifying the fact for Mourinho that it is good to stick to one 'style' of play, while ourselves being usually guilty of laughing at Barca's constant use of tiki-taka and Dortmund's monotonous strong pressing counter-attack stlye of play, without having a plan B.Must we alway use the strong pressing tactic and attimes defensive or semi-defensive approach that Jose usually envisages. There has to be a plan B,and a testament to the fact that we are trying to only get similar type of players si our going after Salah.Mata , to me examplified a different approach that could prove useful.A Plan B,orPlan A or whatever you call it.Our current style of play may not always work, and would soon be found out if we aren't careful.I like Jose's guts attimes because he likes taking huge risks that may pay off or not...but this..... I don't know
Samuel Chimezie
Samuel Chimezie - I don't think you understand. Prior to JM's arrival there was no plan. Consider the players purchased prior to JM. A hodgepodge collection of players that were just purchased without thought of what system they will play in. Purchase of all ACM no wingers. Ramires and Lampard that only fit the 4-3-3 playing in the pivot. Torres, was never a fit for the CFC system when he was purchased. JM is now forming a team for a system. Thank GOD JM is at the club or CFC would continue to be a dysfunctional team.
lamarochs
Well Samuel, if you don't know, don't you think it's better and wiser to just shut up?!
HGH Magic
Why am I not surprised at that@HGHMagic? Thankfully I owe you nothing....why don't you just ignore my posts please....
Samuel Chimezie
Sorry Sam if that sounded harsh, but didn't you say yourself you don't know? "but this....I don't know", just up here? After gallivanting and rigmaroling about everything and nothing? Well, like I said; sorry for gifting you my honest advice; pls don't take offence, but by all means go on saying nothing ;) And whilst feigning surprise, you'd do well to check our archives, such as this thread: www.chelsea.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=535220, where some wise heads and discerning minds including @Desmondadonis, @Simeone, a few others and my humble self correctly, albeit unfortunately, predicted the [painful] demise of "Mazacar", which sadly never led us anywhere enviable in the Premier League. Now you know ;)
HGH Magic
I noticed @Big_R insulted Schlok. I'll surely report this abuse. Hehehehe #VCPolice

As much as I'm trying to move on over this, some of us actually are so in love with Jose that we forget he's human attimes, and not just a human, but a human with ego and guts. He's not some demi-god or something.I support him when I need to both because he's good and because he's OUR manager, twice, but that doesn't mean I don't have a right to express my displeasure at his practises attimes when I feel it they are wrong. That smacks of blind human-worship.....some sort of cult personality.Jose isn't some dictator managing Chelsea that any form of dissenter or person who questions his decisions gets a hard look, some insults or attacks of some sort.I may be wrong or I may be right, and I will come here and appologise and admit that I was wrong like a man.Chelsea means more to me than Mourinho, and more to me than Mata.I know Jose could succeed well at Chelsea, and that Chelsea grows to greater heights with him at the helm, and I wish it so happens.
Samuel Chimezie
Good on you Samuel, and it might interest you to know I'd been criticizing Mata months before Mourinho staged his comeback - even so when the little nimble man was yet our POTY for two straight seasons! And, lo and behold, the article and thread I quoted above was done before June 3rd too. Furthermore, if Jose had gone to Manure as once feared, trust me to be amongst those who would be 'flogging' him unremorsefully and endlessly on here, and of course elsewhere! So suffice it then to say my love and allegiance is to Chelsea and Chelsea alone(why I named my daughter Chelsea!). Thus mate, your point I'm afraid appears to be moot at this point. For whatever it is worth, I reiterate Juan Mata should've fought for his place here - just like Willian, Azpi, Luiz, Mikel, Cole and Torres, under Mourinho; and Terry and Oscar[initially] under Rafa; Lampard and Cole under AVB; and Drogba under AVB and Scolari, respectively; OR GO ABROAD OUT OF RESPECT FOR OUR BLUE SHIRT AND US HIS FANS, and not chicken out to a 21-year-old teammate[Oscar] by defecting to manure of all 'clubs'! I've since moved on as I'm sure you can glean from my utterances and body language[and warm welcome to Mohammed Salah, his apparent replacement] so far regarding this Mata to manure shenanigans and friggin' show of shame and disrespect to the Blue Nation, but mate, seeing him in red leaves a fecking sour, damned, bitter taste in the mouth; and I'll be damned to ever forgive him! He doesn't want to adapt his right? Good luck to him displacing Rooney, Januzaj and/or Kagawa from the #10 "hole" then, though never against us. Carefree.
HGH Magic
*adapt his *game* right? ....
HGH Magic
And, blimey, talking of the #10 role in the "hole", does[has] this newest fecking manure ever play[played] in the "hole" for Spain before?!? Xavi, check! Iniesta, check! Fabregas, check! Silva, check! Cazorla, check! And now, Isco! LOLest
HGH Magic
@Keyser.... Roger that..... Imma deliver your message. Loooooooool'ing @HGH's replies to my "3 wonderful slaps" post.... The foreign guy is just a peeeest! Always negative! #notgoodatall

"MaZaCar" played one season and they fixed the mess left by Mourinho's signings. 6th to 3rd. Don't forget.
