Jose - Aiming for Second?

The fixture, against Manchester City this evening at the Etched, will go some way to defining where we are as a developing team.

Whilst we all harbour hopes of winning the Premier League title Jose Mourinho is a little more cautious, viewing this season as a development season.

For Jose, everything, as he builds the squad in his own way, is geared towards next season when the Special One believes we`ll be the team to beat.

Discussing how the current season might pan out, Jose has remarked to the media ahead of the game tonight,

"If we finish second it`s fantastic. If we finish second doing the formation work, it`s an acceleration of our progress. It`s good."

"I`m enjoying this process, a process that will end in winning. And next pre-season, you will hear me say something completely different."

"I want to win, more than ever - it doesn`t matter how many times I did it."

"There are little details we have to sort. But we want Chelsea to go in a certain direction."

Do you share Jose`s opinions?

Would a second place finish be something decent to reflect on?

Or should we be going hell-for-leather to claim that title?

Here at Vital Chelsea we`d be interested to hear your views on the questions above.

Absolutly agree, winning the FA cup would be great as well.

If Jose had got his act together quicker,we would be well clear already. We've got 21 full internationals in our squad and most of them are top players, brought to the club by a small fortune.Just get on with it and cut out talking bull*****.

I have to agree with Jose's assessment. Some need to remember, that we finished 6th, 24 points off top place and 3rd, 14 points off top place, in last 2 seasons with basically our title challenges over by christmas. Yes Jose took a while to figure things out, and issues still remain and need to be sorted but we are in the mix this time and hoping we make a strong finish.

He is not playing for second ... he's gunning for 1st but taking off the pressure from the team by all this talk.

Jose is spot on.... With one or two players in the summer, we gonna be where we all want to be.....

THEBREEZE, for once, think outside the box, will U ???
DonDhammih
I don't think Jose actually means that .. All he is doing by saying this is bringing Man city in the Spotlight and taking the media attention away from the Chelsea boys. He used to deflect attention by being the bad guy previously but this time he is the "happy one" so he has conjured up something new. As for aiming for the second, i for one don't believe a word of it. He must be telling the Chelsea players day in day out, that the Premier league trophy is there for the taking. So chill guys, don't fall for Jose's "press management" we are very much aiming for the PL, FA cup and the Champions league titles.

@DonDhammih,It's in the box where it really counts, not outside, that's the problem we've got.
THEBREEZE
@ the Don......Outside the box.. he is not even thinking within the box to make sense of our methodical approach to things now.

LooL @Dwonder, whoever believes jose will be very contented with second position without giving first position his best shot can simply believe anything
kolagold25
Really??mind games or not..he is not getting a fat cheque to be contended with bein second best
