Are You Sure Jose?

Last night was painful!

Watching England lumbering around the Wembley pitch had me teetering on the verge of dropping off into dreamland.

Their play was, to put it politely, uninspiring and I couldn`t wait for the final whistle to come. The fact that Daniel Sturridge netted a winner became irrelevant in the waves of boredom that were engulfing me.

However, despite the lacklustre display and the fact that we looked an ordinary side against a country shorn of its best players, Jose Mourinho is of the opinion that, possibly, England can win the World Cup, remarking to the media,

"England? Everybody says no, no, no, no, no - I always say why not, because I don`t understand why not."

"When I see the players and the clubs where they play, I don`t understand why one day it cannot happen. They know how to play for the big clubs, they play in the Champions League which is probably the most difficult football in the world, so I don`t see why they don`t win. So one day they have to do it."

One day Jose maybe, but I`m certain 2014 won`t be that day unless we have bucketfuls of luck, some beneficial refereeing decisions and most of the best sides in the world don`t turn up.

Part of me is convinced that Jose`s words my be, how you say, a little tongue in cheek!

However, I`d be delighted to hear your views, please feel free to express them in our comments facility.

A group stage qualification would be the best that can be got from that team,.

I do not feel its a tongue in the cheek comment from jose rather i feel he simply doesn't just understand as he said, why not? Reading into the comment i feel Jose must be fancying his chances of succeeding if he were to be England's coach.

He didnt say when!!! Maybe 2014, 2018,2022....All he thinks is that if at no point people say England can win WC, then there is something very wrong.

if any england managers had the balls to drop rooney maybe england can get somewhere. he's done nothing except score against ***** opposition. all he does is cause everyone else problems. because of him every other player gets shifted out of position to make space for englands 'best player'. pffft he's been englands *****test player in the last decade

The world cup this year will remain in s/america, argentina or brazil will lift the trophy, spain will be exposed badly this year and germany and belgium are massively overrated,i see italy as the only european team to come closest to the trophy, maybe the semis.

As for england i think they should drop all the oldies such as lamps, gerrad, cole etc and build a team of youngsters so that they will mature before the euros in 2016, just like germany did in 2010.
