'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ave Cesar

We who are about to fall into your back pocket, salute you!

Have you heard of the ruthless warrior who is on a mission to pocket the world? He was in Spain, he used to be in France, now he is in England, in Roman's empire and he has a knack of pocketing whoever stands in his way.

His name, Emperor Cesar Augustus. Azpilicueta? How do you say that? You know what, just call him Dave.

So yesterday Dave added to his victims, as Tim 'not so bright 'Sherwood in all his wisdom, thought Kyle Walker would actually cause Dave enough trouble. . According to Jose, it is only 'natural' that Dave pockets any RB who comes up against him, more so Walker. Maybe if Lennon was on the pitch yesterday, it would've been different... Oh wait he too was pocketed, my bad.

If I were a footballer, I wouldn't want to go AWOL in any game, but when it is inevitable, I'll rather jump into Bosingwa's pocket thanDave's. It's pretty stuffy in there - Bale, Walcott, Coutinho,
Valencia, Lennon, how do you breathe in there?

However, Dave's best attributes are discipline, passion and commitment to the team. Even as a left back he is ready to dash across and provide cover at right back when Ivanovic goes up for a set piece.

This attitude has drawn praise from Jose Mourinho, who can't hide his admiration for the lad, opining that 'a team of 11 Azpilicueta's would win the champions league'. When you get such remarks from the master navigator, you know you're really good.

As days go by that 7 million we paid to acquire Dave, looks ridiculous, utterly ridiculous. So Chelsea and Emenalo don't know how to get good deals? In your face.

Operation Stuff-Walker-And-Spurs complete, next destination Villa Park. Cesar is coming, he's coming to take it all.

Carefree.

KTBFFH.

NIce one. Long overdue appreciation for one of the best signings in recent times. Cesar 'Dave' Azpilicueta has been immense since the Schalke game away. More of the same! #ktbffh #carefree

One of the best full backs in the world defensively right now. Attacking wise he's restricted some playing in his unnatural side.
Blue Krusaders
Cezar is a very good buy. I remember at RB how much he contributed in attack last season pretty much being a second winger.
Pavel Permiachkin
Of course stupid FIFA will only jump him to like 80 because he doesn't play for Real or Barca. If it is exactly the same Dave playing for Real his FIFA rating would be like 85.
Pavel Permiachkin
@Pavel. lol...
jayblhoss
Very nicely written. Credit to emenalo who brokered the deal. I remember back then that there was some heated argument on vc about the signing. Lots of people prefered debuchy then who later ended up at newcastle.
Chelz Akamz
@chelz lets not forget that there were even greater arguments from some quarters suggesting we get douglas Maicon instead. Even though i didnt know much about Cesar then i was already on his bandwagon at the time. Yes i must acknowledge this is one signing that Emenalo and co absolutely got right ..and at an absolute bargain too.

In Jose words, 'I am yet to see a player beat azpilicueta in any game'. that's how much this young lad has raised his own bar since he joined moreso in a very quiet but most impressionable way. #9gamestogo bring on 'villa #Coyb
kolagold25
Yeah,he's been one of our most consistent players this season.
Samychim
One of the world's best and most versatile fullbacks.....but ,please can someone tell me why people call him 'Dave'?
Samychim
I hold up my hands to say i was one of the Debuchy Apologist back then and penned more than 6 comments to the fact. I am so glad he has proven me wrong and made the LB his own. Cole is still very good... but for sheer willpower, speed and commitment... Dave beats him hands down. after few shaky moments against Spurs, he stuck to Adebayor like a leach and did not allow either him nor Walker a yard of pace all through the game. way to go son.... you are the deal.. great credit must go to Emenalo and Co. for such a good buy... Honour well deserved.
Dwonder
I wanted Chelsea to sign Debuchy too but now Azpi is my favourite Chelsea player followed by Willian who left his scoring shoes at Shakhtar Donetsk for some unknown reason. IMO first name on the team sheet is always Azpi.

I wonder where are all the 'Retarded' Jose Critics now that we are sitting pretty on top? Talking about Emanelo's critics None of his critics have not praised him for playing a role in securing the services of Hazard, Dave, etc He has only been criticised for failing to get decent DMs to balance the team and not pack the team with AMs
StamfordDLion
An amazing player. I cant see Dave being Coles long term replacement, but when we do, Ivan will be sweating buckets.
SmokezDoT
Stamford lol don't give them the time of day they won't even begin to understand.

Until Mou came and Matic was purchased exactly how well did our team look with all the Emanalo buys? I want to go into more detail but Stamford summed it up short and sweet but I bet it will fall on deaf ears anyways.

@Sammychim: He's called Dave because we fans couldn't pronounce his name at the outset, it was easier to call him Dave, a-la Trigger in Only Fools and Horses! He is such a great guy and people really slated him en he was bought with Marin at the time. They were both short, light and had leg problems, but Azpi really knuckled down and played for his minutes when he came on initially, where as Marin got sent off for a dangerous tackle. He spent months working on his legs and upper body and now is rock solid. He is a really, really nice guy when you see him in an interview and my only negative comment is I know my wife watches the matches to see him!
bintyandthebeast
I am delighted he is now in the Spain squad and will hopefully be off to Brazil with them. It was sad that his first goal for us was an OG against Sunderland last season before he scored at Arsenal this season. Otherwise, I cannot think of a poor performance at all. Well done Dave!
bintyandthebeast
He tackles a bit like Ron Harris with 100% commitment/aggression/precision. When Azpi goes into a tackle there is always one winner "Azpi". ------------------------All Hale the Real Cesar.
