Who Will It Be?

Who Will It Be?

And so it came to pass, following Manchester United`s capitulation in the Allianz Arena, last night, Chelsea are (once again) England`s last representatives in Europe this season.

Our record of making 7 appearances in the last 11 seasons is something that should be shouted from the roof-tops, even more so when twice we`ve looked, after the first legs of quarter-finals, as if we were heading for the exit.

But, with the draw set to be made in Nyon, Switzerland, this Friday, in a draw that will, no doubt, go on for what will seem an eternity, who will be paired with?

Will it be Real Madrid, a side that goes into the pot having scored the most goals in the competition this season, a staggering 32, and a side bossed by somebody we know very well in Carlo Ancelotti?

Will it be our old friends Bayern Munich, the side who we beat in their own backyard in 2012 and a side who are now managed by Pep Guardiola, who out of the four bosses left in the competition has the highest win rate, a cool 62%?

Or will it be the rookies in the semi-finals, Atletico Madrid, who are in the semi-finals for the very first time and who have one of our players, Thibaut Courtois in their ranks plus a striker we are, reportedly, keen on signing, Diego Costa?

Have your say below and also take the opportunity to vote in our poll!

If not Chelsea then I would like Atletico to win it. Can't stand the diving and cheating cu**s of Bayern and Pep, can't stand arrogant Real & Ronaldo. Anyone can win from now on. I guess we are least favorite as per the bookmakers.

I want us to face Atletico , but Im certain it will be Bayern

I dont know what it is but this version of Bayern does not scare me the way Jurgen Klopps version did. It is almost sacrilegous to say this since they added Thiago Alcantara and Goetze to that all conquering squad but this version every time i have seen them in the Champions league this year have looked shaky and vulnerable. they are certainly beatable. I think their winning the bundesliga so early has dulled their competitive edge. Honestly i would prefer to meet them now and get it over with and then possibly face Atletico in the final and deprive them there of Thibaut Courtois's services (it is wicked i know but we are after all the reputed big bad Chelsea FC). I know that Real would prefer to get anyone but Atletico..Simeone has had the number in recent times and those two teams when they meet it is a family feud derby type quarter will be asked for and none given. Friday will be very interesting to see how it all pans out.

Sorry typo above..i meant Jupp Heynckes Bayern of last year not Jurgen Klopp who is the Borussia manager.

Given a choice I would like us to face Bayern. I am sure we would get through over 2 legs. At this stage we should be ready to face any team. TO be CL winner you have to beat the best. So bring'em on, we can handle them.

athletico or bayern. Real madrid's attacking force may be 2 strong for us. And madrid will destroy athletico over 2 legs just like they did a couple of months ago.

apart from Atletico...i would prefer real or bayern both can be beaten....atletico remind me of chelsea of 2004-5...tough and rough
10/04/2014 09:16:00
Preferred choices in order --- Real, Bayern, Atletico
10/04/2014 09:44:00
If we play Atletico - probably the easiest match , not only will we not face TC, but the price will be less for Costa ..How can we NOT want to play Atletico with the added bonus of us probably winning and getting the glory of a place in the Final??? KTBFFH But I am fully expecting Mafiosi from Uefa fixing us up with Bayern
10/04/2014 10:46:00
However , if we can guarantee getting passed whichever of the others we might get (Real or Bayern) I woud be in seventh heaven if we face Atletico in the Final

skip the needless calculations, people. it doesn't matter who our opponents are. there are no more ghosts in the machine. all four semifinalists are equally capable of winning the trophy. at this advanced stage of the championships, there will never be an iota given by anyone. past/current form is history. it will all come down to who keeps their head better on the day.

also, can't win a championship without beating the best. so now or later, you can't avoid anybody. we have the capability, mettle and men for the job. so believe! 3 games away from ecstasy - or as the rub of the green goes, could still do it with two perfect matchdays - still have a margin for error.

Bayern will be my pick, I think they are beatable over 2 legs and they will suit the way we play perfectly than atletico Madrid who are quite similar to us right now they are well organised and difficult to beat.
10/04/2014 12:29:00
Bayern please. Plus we will have all Manure supporters behind us LOL!
10/04/2014 13:21:00
shlok27 you are so right. I watch Athletico play and I cant help but see the similarities to THAT Chelsea team. Of all the semi-finalists, it is Athletico's style of play that could easily hurt us the most.

Don`t underestimate Athletico, remember what they did to us in Monaco !
10/04/2014 14:56:00
I don't really care who we draw.
10/04/2014 15:10:00
UEFA wants Real - Bayern final so I'm very sure that we will not get Aletico. They will give us Real because 2 managers facing their old clubs where they were literally sacked will be EPIC
