Could Luke Shaw be off to United?

Could Luke Shaw be off to United?

According to a few newspaper reports Manchester United are very confident of beating Chelsea to the signing of Luke Shaw.

Rumour has it that Chelsea will make two big name signings and that Cole will sign a one year contract, so therefore Shaw won't be one of them.

I would have Costa, Lukaku and buy a cheaper third choice striker. As we only play with one striker I think we could manage like that.

I personally think we should go all out to get Shaw, still only 18 and already a quality left back, he could be a first team regular for the next 12+ years.

So I would make Shaw and Costa our two major signings.

Who would you have as our two major signings?

I don't like the price they quote for Luke Shaw. He's not worth the money. I'd rather get Coentrao for half the figure i.e. £15 million and give him a 5 year contract on £ 90k a week which could still be cheaper than and 18 year old.

Patrick van Aanholt! bring him back lets see what he can do. Shaw is overrated because he is homegrown English player. also Shaw is way way too much overrated by Chelsea fans because he twitted that he is a Chelsea fan, he is not worth the money it will take to break desperate united down, let Patrick van Aanholt be a sub and maybe him on the left Dave on the right will be our backline for years to come. Shaw in Chelsea would be nice but not worth the money

The price being quoted is too much for a LB. Our priorities lie elsewhere. Also Bertrand and PVA need to be given a run in the pre season so they can stake their claim.

I really could care less. I fail to see how he is superior to Ryan Bertrand. We should retain Ryan, Recall PVA and have those two as our LBs with Ryan for opposition where we need a deeper seating and PVA for lower level opposition where we need greater attacking threat from the full backs. Cesar can serve as back up while playing his traditional RB role more frequently along with Iva..we would save lots of money this way and go get us a true mid field Regista/Triquestra to partner with Matic..that along with a 1st rate striker are where the big purchasing priorities lie.

He's easily worth 30m in the current market, we could potentially have a world class LB for the next 15 years, so yes, it would be disappointing if he went to United imo.The problem is that we won't be able to sign him AND a top striker in the summer, not without selling a few anyway.

he is not better than betrand, signing baines is far better than shaw.

I don't think there is any chance of Ryan Bertrand coming back unless Aston Villa get relegated. If they stay up I expect them to sign him. At his age he does not want to be playing only half a dozen games a season. The problem with being a back up left or right back is you never play unless there is an injury. Back up midfielders and forwards regularly come on with 20 minutes to go or so to help change a game but that very rarely happens with LB/RB. For these positions you either need a competent youngster -PVA? - who'll be back up for a year or so before they want to move on or an old timer -Ashley if he'll take a pay cut - a bit like Paulo Ferreira did for years. In the era of FFP we just cannot justify paying £30m for Luke Shaw when our current LB/RB have helped us to have by far the best defense in the Premier League.

I`d sooner get rid of Mikel and replace him with Huddlestone, who would compliment Matic perfectly and solve the problem we have in our pivot.

2 things came to my mind if anything. Number 1, Jose has been applying the meritocracy rule more on Oscar 2nd half of the season then the first. He has been subbing him when not performing and sometimes not even start him. Number 2, Oscar Is our slowest AM who is pretty much the only AM who can't play on the wing. Modric is a CM, so maybe this is Mou either pushing for more pace in attack and balancing the team with a good CM or Mou is keeping the wingers and going 433.

I agree with Blueheart9, Huddlestone with Matic can see that really working and won't cost a fortune. One player I really rate and would love to have in a Chelsea shirt - Christian Erickson, get rid of Oscar and get this guy in from Spurs, think he has huge potential. Playmaker but tracks back!

Unfortunately English players have high prices, especially the ones that are doing well. Barkley would also be the same. I would buy shaw, absolutely. I'm not sure cole will be signing a new contract, we are ending the cycle now and a new one starting. I'd hope to see piazon, bamford ake, baker, atsu drafted into the first team.

PVA, Ryan, Dave would be perfect for us. With Iva, Kalas, Dave, Ryan, PVA we are covered in both RB & LB. Lets concentrate on Striker and Pivot.

Looks like Costa is almost certain to join us. That leaves only pivot player to sign for us.
