New Terry Deal!

There`s no doubting that, this season, John Terry has been one of our more consistent performers.

Our club captain has displayed the form that has him recognised as the best central defender in the Premier League.

However JT is approaching the end of his contract and a decision has to be made, by both parties, as to whether JT stays at Stamford Bridge or moves on.

At the age of 33, JT falls into the bracket whereby he`ll only be offered a one-year deal and, we are constantly told, no exceptions.

This morning the press is reporting that JT has, as we`d assumed he would, be offered a new one-year deal, however it is being intimated that his new deal will be on a reduced salary, said to be half of the rumoured 150,000 a week he`s said to be on.

Which raises the question - Is it a deal JT will happily sign or will he decide that now is the perfect time to severe ties with the club he epitomises and either move abroad to finish his career or, heaven forbid, move to another Premier League club?

75,000 pw..dats pure baloney. no way club is gonna propose that to Terry. I think it would be same 150kpw. Considering inflation may be 165kpw

He deserves 1yr at 125kpw atleast. Not more than 150kpw surely. He is regular in our side, i guess he will atleast play 30-35 matches next season also.

I heard the same offer was tabled for Drogba when he decided to move on. If that is correct then Terry and others must not be exceptions. But I believe terry has more to offer than lampard and Cole.

well i am not sure where this is going but since its a one year contract im sure there will be a compromise of 100k because right now he doesnt deserve 150k and 75k seems small for the way this season has panned out

People need to understand we're talking about Terry here. He is Mr. Chelsea. And apart from that he has got couple more years of top level football in him. Mourinho knows that well. And he is more than just another player. he certainly commands 150kpw

A one year deal is appropriate..at JTs age you never know what a year will bring but as others have said while his salary should not increase it is hard based on his performance and form this season to justify cutting his pay from its present level..we are not a pauper club..for me it should be 1 yr deal with salary unchanged and some added performance based incentives. He may have 1-2 more years at this high level before i hope he retires a perpetual blue to join Jose's coaching staff.

I'm getting up in age but I don't consider someone old until they get to 50 yrs. You are as young or old as you feel but your body is a different matter. Terry is battle worn and scarred. His usefulness on the pitch has decreased and I believe he has done his time. Deal is more than fair as I'm sure the club has made and applied the policy to other players. He and Cole may have a season left in them but not as starters.

Also these are not poor men Chelsea are parting ways with...not retiring civil servants going home to a pension as some of us. They are superstars who will go into business, entertainment and other areas of life. They will be more than fine after Chelsea, stop holding on to them.

JT has earned the right to a 1 year contract extension on sheer merit. As far as salary goes, 100,000 pounds/week minimum should be offered to someone of JT's stature. #UptheChels #CaptainLeaderLegend

@had2bg why are you confusing urself with JT. he has done enough to earn another one year rolling contract worth 150kpw (100k fixed + 50k variable). He is not playing for country and that is a huge bonus for chelsea in terms of injury and physical conditioning. remember we have world cup this year. lot of players will be fatigue at the start of the coming season. but JT, Brana, Cech will be fresh so that will be huge bonus for chelsea at the start of the season.

Terry is the cornerstone of Chelsea's success and certainly doesn't deserve a pay cut. I can only assume this is the start of negotiations. Obviously as each year passes the risk of injury and drop in performance increases. For me a compromise would be 100k basic with 50k appearance bonus.

Cutting his salary can't be justified, a 1 year rolling contract is ok till he truly drops.

@Blueboy..you seem to be to not be a fan of biology or the science of how the human body works. The older you get the harder it is for the body to recover from injury and the more time it takes to recover. I'm sure JT gets better health care than me, has specialists on speed dial because he should in his line of work. He and I are however both human and our creator has made it so that our physical powers decrease with age. I would like him to be around next season but he should be allowed to look for another area of life to be successful in. The season is not yet over as well and who knows what may happen to him. Its the best deal for him and Chelsea.

JT owe all his worth to Chelsea and Chelsea FC have backed terry in difficult times in his career, loyalty is best and terry will understand that this a fair deal and almost sure it includes add-on or bonuses. i remember him and Wayne bridge/babayaro with the mighty Gianfranco and Flo those were the days some of us don't remember for obvious reasons.
