'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Stat Attack - Sunderland (h)

As we prepare to welcome Sunderland (and Gus Poyet) to Stamford Bridge for a Premier League fixture that is of vital importance for both sides, we`ve uncovered a few statistics for you to mull over;-

1 - Chelsea`s record against Sunderland, in recent times is pretty impressive. We`ve won the last 6 encounters in the Premier League and have also won 17 of the last 18 meetings between the two sides.

2 - Sunderland arrive at Stamford Bridge having won only 2 of their 12 Premier League fixtures there, during those 12 fixtures they`ve conceded 38 goals which includes a 7-2 thrashing handed out in January 2010.

3 - As we head towards a possible Premier League title we have the best home record in the Premier League with 15 wins and 2 draws from 17 games.

4 - Jose Mourinho, whilst manager of Chelsea in his two spells has yet to taste a home Premier League defeat. So far the record reads 61 wins and 16 draws from his 76 games in charge.

5 - Chelsea are the third highest home goal scorers in the Premier League with 42 a total only exceeded by Liverpool with 51 and Manchester City with 54.

6 - Petr Cech will be hoping to add another clean sheet on Saturday evening, his current tally of 16 is the highest in the Premier League and 3 more than his nearest rivals.

7 - Demba Ba is the form striker in our squad with 3 goals in his last 4 Premier League appearances.

8 - Sunderland arrive at Stamford Bridge in a poor run of form, in their last 9 Premier League games they`ve accumulated 7 defeats and 2 draws, in those 9 games they`ve only scored in 6 of them.

9 - However one statistic we should be aware of is the fact that 5 of Sunderland`s 6 Premier League wins have come against top-half opposition.
