Can We Sell Him?

Can We Sell Him?

The forgotten man of our midfield, Oriol Romeu, has a few hard decisions to make this summer.

Romeu, still only 22 years of age, has spent this season on loan with the Spanish side, Valencia. It would appear that Romeu has no qualms about making his loan spell a permanent deal but that the final decision over a move rests with his parent club which has got me thinking.

If I`m correct Romeu came to Stamford Bridge from Barcelona but he came with (correct me if I`m wrong) a clause that gave Barcelona first refusal if he was ever to be sold.

But, and things could get complicated here so pay attention, Barcelona have been dealt a body blow by FIFA and banned from transfers for two transfer periods.

Therefore, with the Catalan club not being allowed to participate in any transfer activity for the aforementioned period, do they still have a right to activate that buy-back clause or are we well within our rights to sell Romeu to Valencia if we so wish?

He has played well for Valencia and improved his attacking play as well. But then got injured midway, and has just returned few weeks back. So not sure how things will go for him. He will most likely be moved on but I would prefer it if he was given a run in preseason before a decision was made. Marin is on his way out as well.

Too injury prone unfortunately..

He can be a very good player in defensive midfield role if he kept fit and avoid injuries. I thing we should extend his contract and give him time.

He only has a year left on his contract so he will be sold

I thought Barcelona had to activate the buy-back clause by the end of his second season. I think he's been with Chelsea 3 years now so I think we are free to sell him to anyone. I can't see Barcelona wanting him anyway.

well , he is a more refined and better version of mikel, when mikel leaves no point buying someone else, keep the money or use it for another purpose and give him first team even if it is for only one year , at least his value will increase with us for a season of more than average games

He Is better than mikel so if we are selling mikel to inter as speculated, I can see him partnering matic and he has an ability to drive forward. At least we will have few backups for matic ie MVG, Ake, and him. I am a big fan of Ramires and silently hoping Real bid £25m for him thus summer..

Sell Ramires, and retain Romeu. I guess, he is much better than Ramires. I lost hope for Ramires after sunderland's game. He has not really improved his game.
