Courtois Contract Extension

With the furor surrounding Thibaut Courtois and whether he should be allowed to play against hi sparent having been settled in Atletico Madrid`s favour, there is one piece of good news relating to the young Belgian stopper.

It`s being reported that Courtois is close to putting pen-to-paper on a two year contract extension at Stamford Bridge, thereby extending his current deal, which was scheduled to come to a conclusion in 2016.

However, it remains to be seen where he`ll be playing his football next season.

Will it be in Madrid with Atletico, for a fourth season on the bounce, or will it be at Stamford Bridge?

If we can get a better deal on Costa, send TC on loan for another season...
Blu_run
Hope he will play here! its time to bring him to the Bridge 3 seasons is too much! The more he plays at La-Liga the closer he gets to Real-Madrid and Barcelona. if Chelsea want to keep the world next best keeper they need to show him that he got a place as #1 keeper at the bridge otherwise other clubs for the top of the top of Europe will do it!

If we are foolish enough to allow courtois to stay at Atletico one more year especially after how their adminstrators have treated us regarding this whole playing courtois against us contract clause palaver then our decision makers really are clueless i am sorry to say. It is long overdue to end the TC misadventure in Spain whether or not he signs a contract extension. We would be more than foolish to allow TC or anyone else push us into a corner of "allowing him stay one more year" at Atletico as "reward" for signing a contract extension. He still has a valid contract with us right now for 2 yrs it is high time we act like and begin calling the shots rather than allowing everyone including UEFA, Atleti, Courtois, his dad etc push us around like a bunch of wimps and idiots. Our club needs to show more spine and character about this issue. What we do on this matter come summer will have major implications for the club going forward and unless we exact a high level punishment on Atletico for their treachery we will have set an very dangerous precedent and the value of our entire loan out development system will be in jeopardy..Unless we lay down a clear unmistakeable marker in the sand on this matter with TC, Vitesse will be the next club that will take us for mugs regarding our own players.

I don't think its really going to form a precedent gabeu and i don't think our decision makers are mugs neither do i think they are being pushed around rather i think we are playing the matured one here. I admit athletico haven't been the most sincere in this courtois issue but we must both agree nonetheless that the are also playing a good role in helping us still have courtois as a CFC employee. Courtois might just have decided to leave if he'd been second choice to cech all this while. The most important thing is what we are doing currently which is tie him down to a new contract. then i believe every other thing follows
kolagold25
However this plays out with TC and AM, he should not be allowed to stay in La Liga another year. Not least of all, we need him to get accustomed to the English game, if he is to replace Cech within the next couple of years. Loan him to another PL club if he is not starting immediately at CFC.
BlueABS
Bring him home we need changes for next season lets start looking at all our loan players if they are better than what we have bring them back
herefordchelsea
If he only signs for two more years..then it is back to Chelsea no doubt about it…that means Cech may up for sale.
lamarochs
bring him back. rotate between the sticks next season. the moment of transition from cech to heir has come, methinks. much as i still am a big cech fan.
johnny come lately
