Will Torres Start?

Chelsea arrived in Madrid yesterday without Samuel Eto`o with the Cameroon international absent through a knee injury.

Many pundits are assuming that Fernando Torres will start against his former club, a dangerous supposition considering Torre`s recent form.

However, talking to the media, Jose Mourinho has re-iterated that Chelsea, despite the defeat at home to bottom of the table Sunderland on Saturday, fully motivated, remarking,

"Everybody picked to start will be full of motivation for sure."

And as for Torres possibly facing his old club, Jose was giving very little away simply remarking,

"I`m not saying Fernando will start, I`m saying he never hides and we feel that every day."

"We speak about Spanish football every day. He is a real Atletico supporter, a big, big one, but he`s a professional."

"I have no doubts the minutes he`s on tomorrow he will try to do everything for Chelsea as the fantastic professional he is."

And that is all we can possibly ask for as we face, probably, the best team in Spain at the moment.

Problem is Nando works best when there is space to attack. When it is compact he struggles and Atheltico sit so deep that it could be pointless for him. Saying that Demba too isn't great in tight spaces

We could not be in worse shape heading into such an important match..the bad taste of a horrible loss, Eto O once again injured, Hazard barely if at all fit meaning our best player even if available will be no where close to 100%, Iva suspended and Courtois allowed to play against us for free thanks to UEFAs meddling in what is internal contract affairs between two clubs. Honestly if El nino's productivity (or lack thereof) against another of his former clubs (Liverpool) is anything to go by i would not start him in this match. I,d rather take my chances by starting Ba. The number of Injuries Eto O picks up is symptomatic of his age and i think that for answers the question of whether we should retain him..For a team that appears determined to stick to having just 3 strikers on the books we need all there to have a reasonable level of fitness and thus be available and productive on a consistent basis.. Eto O's repeated injuries suggest he cant provide that meaning we need to be in the market for not one but two strikers this summer in addition to recalling the Kraken. As for today all i can do is hope and pray. If we can escape from the Calderon without conceding more than one goal we would have done very well and have a decent chance at Stamford Bridge..if we secure a valuable away goal or goals..even better still. I am hopeful but not confident.

This is the time i enjoy to watch chelsea play - when the players you would have been hoping on are not going to be playing. It is always delightful to see how we are going to step up. I believe we will be in for a good game tonite. Going by torres' display against 'pool, like gabeu i would prefer Ba to start moreso because this athletico team is quite physical and a player like Ba might suit their backline better. #COYB #ktbffh :)

@GabeU Regardless of Eto's injuries, I believe he's had a good season and his experience and value within the dressing room is much needed in a club like Chelsea. We will probably try to sign Costa in the summer and recall Lukaku (hopefuly). Torres and Ba need to be sold, that will leave us with Costa, Lukaku and Eto'o, more than enough to compete in every competition.

*In case Eto'o signs a year extension of course.

Are we really gona miss Eto? He doesn't score away from Stamford bridge i guess mourinho knows that as well.. in spite of how much i want us to get rid of Torres, i still love the efforts he puts up for us whenever he comes on he might jst have one of those moments we know he is capable of, he scored in our last visit to Spain

9 for Torres when it comes to big games he's 10 times better then Costa.
