Stupid!

Stupid!

Yesterday, ahead of the fixture with Atletico Madrid, a fixture that will define our season, Jose had a few words for the pundits who sat hanging on his every word at the press conference.

Obviously incensed by the criticism that he feels he`s taken after performances against Liverpool and Atletico Madrid, both away from home, saw Chelsea demonstrate just how resilient, defensively, they can be, Jose rounded on his detractors by remarking,

"Football is full of philosophers. People who understand much more than me."

"If you have a goalkeeper like Petr Cech who puts the ball in the opponents box, and a striker like Didier Drogba, who wins everything in the air, why play short? Because you are stupid."

"If your opponents are very fast on the counter and you want space behind your defensive line, if you give them that space then you are stupid?"

"A team that doesn`t defend well doesn`t have many chances to win. A team without balance is not a team."

"Opponents have the ball, you have to work and be defensively organized."

"You have the ball, you have to try and play according to the qualities of your players and the qualities of your opponents."

"The critics speak. But no problem."

Wonderful stuff but I can`t help feeling those words might very well apply to several who always seem fit to criticize what the 'Special One` is achieving at our club and who frequent this site!

The written media / talksport blowhards are out for Jose no doubt about it. If Chelsea lose to night - even on penalties - they will brand him a FAILURE. And presuming we don't win the league and Arsenal win the cup they will have a field day about Jose being a specialist in failure. You can almost guarantee it. They want him sacked because they know if he leaves, Chelsea won't be contenders.

Maybe I've just missed it but every week of Liverpool's 11 game winning streak the Daily Mail had a section about the top performing player in the Premier League and it was nearly always Gerrard rated No. 1 or 2. This week I cannot find the ratings anywhere.

the third paragraph might be refering to Guardiola's foolish tactics yesterday and at the same time passing a warning unto R. Madrid that if we qualify for the final, the likes of Di Maria, Bale and Ronaldo won't be finding much space behind our backs.

Beautiful words from jose all the way. Play according to conditions and set of talents while maintaining balance. There can't be more ways to success than this. Jose is here to stay and they had better come to an understanding.

Yea cobhamblue i agree completely the media will come down hard on jose if we end up winning nothing and arsenal seals the FA Cup. They will taunt him about if he's becoming a specialist in failure. As regards balance, the only team i know of that is as balanced as us in the champs league is the one we are facing, athletico. If we proceed to the final, i will be fancying our chances against Real cos as much as they have incredible fire power they don't have balance in defence. If we can hold on tight in defence they will be there for the taking.

Hi Kola, been busy lately. Thanks. How's the home run working out for you mate? Think we can breach Courtois, finally, and put Atleti to the sword @the Bridge? Ba or Eto'o? Dave or Cole?
