Stat Attack - Atletico Madrid

Stat Attack - Atletico Madrid

And so the Champions League dream is over!

We`ll not be having a weekend in Lisbon hoping to win our second Champions League title in three years, instead we`ll be licking our wounds, looking at where it all went wrong and preparing for a fresh challenge next year.

But what statistics can we pull together from the defeat last night?

Well here`s four to get you started:-

1 - Our reported striker target Diego Costa has now netted 8 times in 8 Champions League games this season.

2 - Last night was the first time Chelsea had lost a home semi-final tie, at Stamford Bridge, is it coincidence that it happened in our 13th fixture?

3 - The defeat to Atletico Madrid was our first defeat to a Spanish side in the last 17 fixtures.

4 - Unfortunately, for us, Atletico Madrid remain the only team to remain undefeated in the Champions League this season.
