Where Did it go Wrong? (Mr Angry)

Where Did it go Wrong? (Mr Angry)

Well to my mind it was the first leg!

You just can't play an important away game like that with the apparent plan we had!

When you play an away leg, you NEED that away goal, 0-0 leaves you too vulnerable should you concede at home.

The away goal is so valuable because it means that with a 1-0 away win or even a 1-1 away draw under your belt your opponents are going to have to come at you, the more they try to press, the more chance there is of leaving you space to exploit behind.

Even if you decide to park the bus at home, (which we can be good at), the away goal would automatically put us through. It is pure amateurish folly to go away and play for a draw hoping to nick-it 1-0 at home, as we found out last night.

There is always the fact that we have played to last two seasons without a striker! - So let`s not be too hard on ourselves, we've nearly won the league as well!

All in all we have a lot to be proud of!!

Next season man, I have good feelings about it. If Mourinho is there and we keep this squad as it is while adding a new striker and a left-back then we'll take it all!

Back at the start of the season ,after we loaned out Lukaku ,we looked at the trio of sadness we have for strikers ,our biggest hope was to finish 3rd or 2nd and make the CL semi's ,we have done that . Sure we would have liked to have made it to the finals ,but at least we lost to a better team and not to a ref .a decent striker may have grabbed that all important away goal ,our own goal keeper stopped us from going 2-1 up ,lets hope we learn by next season .

If he doesn't upgrade his tactics, he won't win anything next season even if we get a world class inform striker. He is so old_fashioned. He went to spain to park the bus shamefully without the aim of scoring an away goal, and came back to london to start with six Defenders when we needed to win that game badly. He will continue to struggle against modern young coaches like pep, simeone and klopp and even martinez and rogers when he doesn't re-invent his tactics. In his last possible 14, mourinho has won just 4 trophies with his last season being trophyless. This season, he might use the poor form of our strikers to cover his ass but next season will be different. He has arrogantly labelled wenger as a specialist in failure.....praying so hard that this doesn't come back to bite him hard...

A striker alone will not solve our problem. If you watch our matches against weaker teams, you will notice that we looked clueless in attack. Not that our attackers are not doing enough but the tactics. We don't play football. Its all about counter attack. That's why we've had a good record in big games because our opponent will press harder for us to counter attack. But for the smaller games, we've looked very poor and frustrating. His tactics is not good enough for modern football. We are so one dimensional. We need to learn to break defences down and not always wait to counter attack.

We are not a threat to most of the teams because of our style of play. When a team decides to stay within their 18yards, we can never press them, we rather wait for them to attack us which we in turn counter attack which is not how it should be. We are to attack with every team like we did with mancity, PSG and liverpool at home. We always wait to concede before we start fighting. We are supposed to be hungry from kick off. We always blame our forward,( which is true) but if we are to change our way and do it all attack and all defend, it will go well for us. Mou should at least instill in our players that every match is a tough one and should be treated as such. we luck the cutting edge in some matches. we have to be ruthless in defending and attack. but all the same, we have have come far, at least with this squad and we need to make critical changes in the squad next season.

zskarlo, you are right, we have been playing counter attacking football and that is what has helped us trample over our rivals. We are to attack and attack but with caution. We have all it takes to attack. I think our back four should always remain at their position but the rest must get involved in the attack. We always stay back for our opponents to travel from their 18 to ours before we start to react which is dangerous because in case of any blunder, they are within our 18 to hit us. Instaed of that, why don't we stop them within their own premises before they get to us. If you could recall our game against Mancity away, that is what we did and we were able to stop them from exploring spaces to hit us. That is how we should play against any team.

@ jaybloss, an improvement in tactics..at the moment, its only chelsea fans that enjoy our current style. When you play counter attacking, you need a lot of athletic players, players who can dispossess opponents and very clinical attackers. how many do we have?..well lets wait till next season..

true, @nana..we don't need to wait for our opponent to make mistakes before we attack...we need to attack..all we need to do is to organise our defence well and shield them with a compact and quick midfield. We already have matic so we have to ship out two of ramires, lampard and mikel and bring in someone who can pass and score , to partner matic...quite optimistic that we will sort everything out this summer.

funny as iwasnt upset after going out to Madrid as it was fair and square! no ref's cocking it up or fights between coaches or players just a god 90 minute game of football where we were eaten by the better side. this summer is huge for cfc roman and jose mourinho. roman must know see we need to splash the cash on a top striker maybe even 2! costa sounds like I is a done deal as for rob Beasley to say it I then believe it as yes he works for the sun but the guy is very good friends with jose and top cfc brass and is a de hard cfc fan,he dosnt lie about his club! so if costa is done tats fantastic news but I still think we need a WC CM to play alongside Matic next season. Vidal is m 1st choice as he can score goals from midfield and is a strong battler like costa and I can imagine havin ivanovic, costa and vidal all in the same te! wow that's scary for anyone who wants to fight u. im sure costa and vidal would love away games at palace, villa and stoke lol

People you dont cease to amase me! Whenever we lose you come up with all sorts of trash, listen Bayern with all the possesion was beaten, Man City with all the money was beaten, Madrid is behind Athletico in Laliga so tell me whats wrong with all those teams because according to most of you we are supposed to win every game. Football has 3 results draw, win and lose we are not super natural, Mourinho is not supernatural we win and lose some. According to me this season we have over achieved semi final UEFA, still in league competition though outsiders what more do you want are we the only team in Europe we won UEFA, EUROPA then expect us to win it this year again? Whats the fuss about entertaining or attacking football all those like Arsenal, Barca etc have won nothing this year

The names on this thread scare the hell out of me. You come here to act as if our season was worst that manure's. Cut the special one some slack, he has done at least a good job, not so great though. I would have loved to see shurrle start but as par news he had a cramp and Hazard was not fully fit, so also Terry & Oscar was injured . I guess you know better how to use the limited attackers. I don't understand what you mean by out of 14 he has won 4. Arsene took a dig at Mourinho and that was a retrospective statement looser. Stop using we cos we are Chelsea and you're just a troll. Jose is one of us and mistakes are inevitable for humans

I'm still debating if we've had a good season or not. 1) Have we done better than last season. The answer is,yes in results but i did expect that because of the addition of Eto'o,Schurrle,Willian,Matic and Salah. The style of play is not as good and exciting as last season. 2) Were we in transition this season. The answer is,no.We have 23 full international players and the second strongest squad in the the Premiership. We all know what's needed for next season,a natural left back.A top midfield player who can control a games tempo and two quality strikers but you can't say we're in transition,as we have a great foundation of experienced players and every club is always trying to improve it's team. 3)Could we have done better this season.Answer is definitely.Jose has planned brilliantly against the big teams and we've got great results but some of the defeats against weaker teams have been criminal. With City slipping up,we should have won the league easily with the team and players that we have. We still have a slight chance if Everton and Palace can do us a favour. We need to attack Norwich on Sunday and get as many goals as we can.If a poor Utd can get four against them last week,we should be aiming for more.Liverpool are seven goals better off than us,let's put the pressure on them, you never know.Let's see what we're really made of on Sunday.

Of course Mr Angry, Jose lost the plot since the 1st-leg same way as Pep @Bayern; makes us all angry, though I can't say we saw the likes of @xskarlo throw as much toys outta prams as littered on this thread when we were on a winning streak...not even as recent as the win at Anfield in the faces of The Kop, or the other over PSG. Jeez! Chelsea are not the only club to have lost in the semi-final...took Real 12 friggin years to get to where the are now, Atleti 40 or so weary years! Heck, took Barcelona 14 to win the European Cup/Champions League again in 2006, after their first and last time in 1992. Took Inter Milan 40+ years as well. Took Liverpool 19, from 1984-2005. It's taking the other juggernaut, Juventus, aeons! Arsenal and Man City have never tasted this glory, and are thus numb to the feeling winning it evokes. Tottenham ain't even worth a mention here! Lol... We only just won it 2 years ago. Chill out.

I dont think we struggle to unlock stiff defenses against relegation teams...we stuggle to score the chances we get...Do you think a striker like Falcao will miss a open net against sunderland just like Ba, or do you think they will have 33 shots against WHU & yet make 0 goals...This season, we clearly found out that the strikers which we have are not capable of delivering...Maybe they are suited for slow patient game, which we are not going to play.

I will accept a point on Jose, that he is becoming too predictable with tactics...he is only stiff defense + swift counter attack...I fear AM has just shown the way to beat us...Maybe all EPL teams will use the same formula (Just how teams now can beat Barca & BM)

took Liverpool *21 years not 19. Furthermore, much like Real Madrid, it took Bayern 12 years of constant planning, building, patience, faith and heartbreaks, from 2001-2013, to taste success again. The sky will never fall even if Chelsea don't get past the group stages next season. Get that grip already! Time to return those damned toys back to your prams then, in my opinion of course. @HGH lol that was good to bring us back to reality. I was one of the critics of Jose after his line up against Atletico but ok, two days has passed now and I'm calm and able to do an analysis on the season.. It's been a good one, much better than last season, so everything is going well at the moment. IF we manage to get the right players on the transfer window we will be a force to be reckoned with next year in the PL and UCL. Relax guys, we have a smart and hard working coach, let's get behind the team again :)
