Mangala Interest Re-Visited!

Whilst, as a club, even more so after John Terry agreed a new deal, we seem to be well-stocked with centre-backs, it hasn`t stopped the media inferring another could be on the way.

This morning transfer speculation links Chelsea with a big-money move for Eliaquim Mangala.

As we`ve pointed out before the player is 23 years of age and currently on the books of the Portuguese outfit - FC Porto.

Recently a move to Manchester City has been highly touted but it is now being inferred that Chelsea may well up the ante by meeting the 35 million fee being requested, even more so with the player inferring that London would be a preferred destination, remarking,

"The choice between Chelsea and Manchester City? I would say Chelsea because it is in London."

Let`s sit back and se what happens shall we!

If we even buy a defender, I guess Jose will push for Varane rather than Mangala...and for the amount quoted, thanks very much.

STRIKER + DLP - 2 critical position we need to strengthen...not other signings required

The guy is just using the name of Chelsea to up his asking price with City..an old but clearly effective trick that has been done again and again.

I prefer Varane over Mangala. would cost less and is much younger. Also he is a Mourinho Lad so he knows what to expect of the happy one.... however we don't need any defender now. with Omeruo, Kalas and Zouma out there, even if we sell Luiz, we are overstocked with talent as it were. I expect Kalas to get more game with Cahill next season as Terry's contract winds down and with Ivanovic capable of playing as CB also, we have four players for the two CB spots ( that s if we sell Luiz). So thanks Mangala, try Arsenal.

The centerback position is the least of our worries. I will be very surprised if we go for any CB. We have other urgent areas to address.

We don't need a CB. There are rumours that Jose is bent on keeping Luiz, Iva is a beast at CB and we have two excitingoptions CB prospects in Zouma and Kalas, I say a big no to Mangala, by the way, I think Varane is overrated.

luiz is better than Mangala so why waste 30M on him?

Regarding the CB position. Cahill and Terry starters. Terry on a 1 year contract. So, bring in Zouma. Regarding fullback position: Cesar and Iva are starters. I would have CFC purchase a starting LB (not Shaw) and have Iva rotate with Cesar with the new LB for the full back positions. THen have Cahill, Terry and Zouma rotate as the CB's. Iva and Cesar are valuable as they can play multiple positions. I would rather see Iva as a CB rather than a RB. I would let Kalas and Omerou fight it out as a squad back-up defender if needed. I would think that Kalas is slightly more valuable as he can play both fullback and CB but Omerou might be a better CB. While I would like to keep Luiz, it makes to much sense to sell him unless he is converted to a full time starting CM and I don't know if that is viable.

I don't really see the need for either Varane or Mangala unless one or more of the existing CFC CB's are sold.
