Transfer News - Red Devils Draw First Blood

Transfer News - Red Devils Draw First Blood

With the Financial Fair Play regime set to fully kick off, it seems a summer of fire sales is almost upon us as UEFA clubs [barring Manchester United apparently] look to balance the books and avoid sanctions, and it is no different in Bayern Munich with the Bundesliga club reported to be willing to sell a good portion of their star-studded lineup not excluding stars like Croatian, Mario Mandzukic; Dutchman, Arjen Robben; and German internationals, Thomas Muller and Toni Kroos.

Recently Chelsea have been variously mentioned in the same sentence as Mandzukic and Kroos—two players who could considerably address some of our more dire needs—and now it would seem any hopes we had of stealing a match on the broken United for the signature of the latter would be dashed if the inference as peddled by the Daily Express is anything to go by, as according to the tabloid the Red Devils and Die Roten have agreed a deal for the 24-year-old midfielder, with the "principles of an agreement" now in place.

Although the player is yet to put pen to paper, amid concerns over United's inability to provide Champions League football next term, van Gaal's connection with FC Hollywood is a massive plus, and with a deal for Chelsea fan and [former] target Luke Shaw all but secured, that would be one more 'target' lost to the Mancs though whether Mourinho was ever interested in Kroos in the first place or would do van Gaal, his former boss a 'Willian' remains to be seen.

So does this news break your heart, enough that you'd have us gazump the Mancs if possible or perhaps you know better options we should go for?

Who do you want as Nemanja Matic's partner next term?

Kroos is a terrific footballer and would be an ideal partner for Matic. He has great vision and touch and is a beautiful passer of a football. He very rarely gives the ball away and also gets his share of goals.Perfect fit for Chelsea.

I don't understand the hype around Kroos. If he can play like Pirlo, good.

Kroos is not required. We have Oscar who can develop into similar one. All we need is a proper DLP like Modric / Schweinsteiger/ Pirlo/ DDR.

I think Kroos 'll b a good partner 4 Matic next term. He is young(only 24yrs), physical, good passer of d ball, hard tackler, presses high up, sets up & scores couple of goals outside d area. In fact i wouldn't mind CFC 2 swap Kroos + Mandzukic 4 Luiz, as dat 'll balance d team though sources reveal dat fmr has only a yr left in his contract while d latter is set 2 leave following d arrival of Lewandowski. If dat happens with or without Costa i can say its my dream signing. Recall Courtous, Lukaku, Piazon, Zouma & promote Chalobah, Baker, Blackman, & RLC; then sell or release d following: Mikel, Lamps, Cech, Marin, Romeu, Ba, Torres,Mc Eachran & Moses. KTBFFH

Soldado would be perfect for Chelsea. Those chances missed could have been goals if there was a poacher in the box.

Bayern have confirmed that they won't improve on their latest contract offer to Kroos which he rejected, it's a take it or leave it situation now which means he is more than likely to end up at ManU as I don't think Bayern won't be tempted by that £40m offer for a player with only one year left on his contract and Kroos should be excited to work with a top manager like Van Gaal.

I don't understand why we are slow in this transfer window, other top clubs are working hard trying to get their major deals done before the world cup so they can have a full squad to work with during the preseason but we prefer to wait until August 31st when all the quality players would have joined other clubs and we will be left with the Etos of this world. Just like how we wasted the whole of last summer chasing Rooney, now we have all the time in the world to battle ManU for Kroos or bid for Vidal but we are folding our hands, doing nothing, instead we are giving Lamps a new contract, selling Luiz to Bayern and hoping that Matic will form a formidable pivot combo with Rami or Lamps for next season.

I don't think this news has anything to do with us, primarily because i we were not interested in Kroos in the first place. There seems to be not much happening on the transfer front for us. A shame really. But it is still early.

All said and done it's a great signing for Man U if confirmed. After Van Gaal being appointed manager, and a very large transfer budget available to him, plus no european football next season, Man U will be a force again.

The transfer window isn't even open yet and people are already moaning at the lack of activity. Keep calm guys; who mourinho wants, he usually gets....kroos is a great passer of the ball but not an all round midfielder (considering defensive and attacking qualities) like schwensteiger, modric, alonso, pogba, verratti, cabaye (who we should have gone for before he went to psg) or even our very own luiz. Would be a fantastic buy but not necessarily what we need at this point.

all i can say is i want kroos, i would die to see him in the blue jersey. Combination of him with matic would be mouth-watering. He's very good technically and not bad physically. ManU would really enjoy his services if this deal goes through. Common now let's a willian on the mancs roman!

and yea if the deal of costa happens to go through that would make the talk so chelsea not doing anything early look short-sighted.

who needs kroos when we have player like rami to partner matic....the problem is jose thinks rami is the best and he wont bring any player to partner matic because he thinks his son rami is the best in the world....this jose rami love story will be a big problem in comming season...he will get chance no matter how bad he is...and we will have to suffer seeing his awful performance day and day out....

fv if that was the case, he would have shipped out Oscar and Salah ages ago. Kroos instead of Oscar would have been a dream.

Do we have to get all players? If Kroos move to Man utd so be it and it is not the end of the world. we all think like all players re made for chelsea. i believe we will be very active in this transfer window, expect to see about 4 quality players coming in. I am sure if we buy kroos some of you will still question the transfer and say mou hates youth players, some will even go to an extent of saying we have better players than Kroos in our youth team. Please let the board do what they knows best. they have proved to be the best in transfer in recent years(eden, oscar, matic, azpi, courtois, willian, schurlle) so why dont you sit back and watch while they do their job.
