Inter Loan Bid Rejected

Inter Loan Bid Rejected

Reports suggest that the Italian side, Inter Milan, tried to lure John Obi Mikel away from Stamford Bridge.

It appears that the Serie A side were looking to take the Nigerian international on loan but that the idea was vetoed by Chelsea Football Club.

However, it`s also being intimated that Jose Mourinho has agreed that Mikel can leave Chelsea but only if a permanent transfer can be agreed with the midfielder being available for a fee said t be in the region of £9.5 million.

We`ll endeavour to keep a watchful eye on this one.

Permanent deal is better. Loan deal sounds absurd.

I think inter must be stupid to even think of a loan term for a player like mikel. It makes me wonder how smart they are over there. At that amount i expect alot of offers to come in cos i believe no club would regret spending such amount to acquire the services of mikel

Buy him. A loan suits nobody apart from them. The money we get from a squad player would be useful to buy a decent CM

This is starting to remind me of how RDM got his squad gutted with the fire sale of Miereles and the loan of Essien to Real a few post seasons ago. We really have no business hawking Mikel around fpr a possible sale or loan until we actually have some replacements that are at least comparable and ideally better signed ..not projected, not targeted..signed..and sorry Tiago does not fit that bill. We have lost Luiz and lamps already..Mikel is really the only half decent partner left for matic in our central midfield right now..MVG is an unknown who hasnt been tested in the furnace of the BPL and Ramires had his worst season in a chelsea shirt last year..unless he improves significantly this coming season he really should have been the first one sold of all our CM/DM options. The more news of potential departures i hear the more apprehensive i get regaridng what the hell we are trying to achieve this transfer window. It is always wiser and smarter to identify and secure your targets first then sell of the surplus ..we are approaching this the other way around and if we are not careful we are going to end up with a dangerously thin squad.

@GabeU this is nothing like the Meireles and Essien situation. We sold those 2 right at the end of the transfer window so had no time for replacements. If we were to sell Mikel right now, we'd still have almot 3 months to sign a replacement. Mikel is not a decent partner for Matic, they are in fact our worst pairing. The only time the duo of mikel/matic is useful is when we're being ultra-defensive which won't be the case for 90% of the season.

Sell only...No Loan move. No point in loaning him.
