Ex-Arsenal player would be a good signing.

Cesc Fabregas could be a great signing.

If I'd been asked last week my top 2 choices to partner Matic next season I would have said Koke and Pogba, I would love either of those but not sure they'll happen. It looks like Koke will be going to Barcelona and I'm not sure Chelsea would want to spend the Money Juventus would want for Pogba.

That leaves Fabregas who's definitely available, he's a player that divides opinion and being honest at first when I heard we were linked with him I was a bit unsure, but now having thought about it I think signing Fabregas makes sense for a number of reasons.

He's classed as a homegrown player which is a bonus. At 27 he's experienced but still has his best years ahead of him. He's played in the Premier League before which means he won't take long to adapt.

I think he's very versatile so could play in a few different positions. He likes to make runs into the box so could score a decent amount of goals, something we've been lacking since Lampard started playing less. He was the Arsenal captain so has good leadership qualities. I think he could be a great signing.

Your thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I think he will go to Man City or Arsenal.

Sign him up along with Sanchez (if available). He used to play as a central mid-field playmaker at Arsenal before being shifted out of position at Barcelona.

He's too attacking for Mourinho and won't fit into his park the bus and lump it forward style of football. Plus he's Spanish and Mourinho doesn't like Spanish players because they like to play football, and he doesn't.

@Trennon, you are primitive. Azpi who's the mainstay last season is spanish and is hated my Jose according to you.

I prefer Kroos / Rakitic instead of this Barca reject...

Fabregas is a definite yes. I read some people saying he can't play DLP and i shook my head as it was some of these same people who are suggesting we play oscar in that position. It just surprise me how one will think oscar can play in that and fab can not. Fab is one of the very few players available who is good at opening up defense, has crazy passing skills, score goals and had even become a better all round player with barca.

But one space that we have to be filled this summer is that of luiz in the big games. We will need a midfielder whose presence has to be felt, has to be tough, and good at doing the basic passing and distributing of ball. Fabregas has all these besides thoughness which is why i am a little skeptical

@kolaogld25. fabregas can't play in the pivot. Don't compare him to Oscar because Oscar has defensive qualities and positional sense. Fabregas doesn't have either of those nor does he have a high defensove work rate like Oscar. Think about why Barca are selling him. He can't adjust to their system because he wants a free role, now do you honestly think mourinho is going to give one of his 2 DM a free role? "He couldn't adjust to Barca because it's a more disciplined tactical team". Thats a quote from a Guillem Balague who's a well respected journalist/tv presenter. Now if he can't adjust to Barca because they're too tactically disciplined how the hell is he going to do any better here?

Arsenal and City have both turned down moves ,latest reports from Spain say there has been no contact with us ,so that leaves United really . Balaque tweeted we are not in for him ,seems we are after Koke but Barca also want him .

Yeah you do realise Mourinho had no idea how to play Modric properly. He was voted the worst signing of the season last year. Mourinho is too defensive to play Modric in a holding role, he didn't believe in Modric's defensive abilities. Mou thought playing Alonso and Modric together would leave the def too vulnerable so he tried playing modric in a CAM role, in which he flopped. If he can't trust Modric in a holding role how exactly is he going to trust fabreags who has no tactical discipline?
