Chelsea Related World Cup Talk (1)

As the World Cup draws ever nearer, some of those involved in the 2014 football fest, in Brazil, were playing there final warm-up games.

Whilst England, with Gary Cahill in the starting line-up and with Frank Lampard coming on for a substitutes appearance adding another cap to his total, struggled to a 0-0 draw against Honduras, two other European teams with Chelsea connections registered wins.

Spain, the current holders of the World Cup beat El Salvador 2-0 with New York City bound David Villa getting both goals. However, Chelsea supporters might be interested to know that Chelsea bound Diego Costa made his first start since injury wrecked his Champions League Final.

Costa was brought down, in the penalty area early on, unfortunately another supposed Chelsea target Cesc Fabregas missed from the penalty spot, Costa played for seventy-three minutes before being withdrawn

Belgium, meanwhile, faced Tunisia in a match that was halted when an overhead storm deposited hail-stones the size of large marbles onto the pitch. Belgium won courtesy of a late goal from Mertens but the Belgian camp will be concerned that Romelu Lukaku limped off with an injury just past the hour mark, an injury that caused the Belgian coach, Marc Wilmots, to remark,

'Romelu has difficulty walking. It's a big bruise. It'll be three or four days.'

Hopefully Romelu will be fit for the opening game of Belgium`s World Cup campaign.

I guess there'll be someone or something with a Chelsea connection in most games so I'll probably find a reason to watch the bulk of them. Anyone know how much a good divorce lawyer costs these days?
