'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Chelsea Linked With Another Striker. Not Costa

Reports have surfaced in Turkey suggesting Chelsea Football Club have joined the race for Fenerbahçe striker Emmanuel Emenike.

According to Turkish sports daily Fanatik, the 27-year-old Nigerian international has caught the eyes of Chelsea scouts at the World Cup in Brazil with his impressive technique and imposing physique.

Usual suspects including Arsenal, Tottenham, Juventus and Zenit St Petersburg are also mentioned to be monitoring the big striker's progress at the mundial, and he has previously said his dream is to play in the Premier League.

"I have always dreamed of playing in the Premier League," Emenike said to the Turkish press.
'If I get the opportunity to play in England I wouldn't turn it down."

Emenike has been in impressive form for club and country — 12 goals and 9 assists in 28 Super Lig matches and 9 goals in 24 internationals — and provided the assist for Nigeria's 1-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina to put the West Africans on the brink of qualification for the knockout stage of the World Cup.

A technically gifted and tactically flexible striker who isn't afraid of competition and is comfortable playing out wide, as a lone marksman or just behind a main striker, he would add the vital verve to our attack and deepen a strikeforce which largely flattered to deceive last term.

Thus, if he goes on to impress further in Brazil, it isn't hard to imagine the Chelsea front office snapping up this guy.

For whatever it is worth, this one seems a rather interesting link as Jose Mourinho loves to have big strikers amongst his strikers corps, as such you can trust us to keep you posted on developments if/when they become available.

So Chelsea fans, would you rather have this guy understudy Diego Costa instead of, say, Fernando Torres or Romelu Lukaku?

Lmao!!!! Not happening
Hazard11
I know him and in my opinion he is yet another Kalou.
BOTUM
No disrespect, if Jose prefers a physical striker, then I'd rather keep Demba BA or recall Lukaku.
syed230183_chelseafc
He is powerful, he's got pace. He will be a nice addiction to the team.
Isaac Ijekhuemen
No to him.
elemzy
Big NO to him.. Like syed righly said.. I will rather keep ba rather signin eminike
Abidemi
Good player bt nt sure he'll add anytin new to our team as we already av Lukaku, Costa (if we complete d deal) who are very much like him. I'll rather prefer Alexis Sanchez....... He'll offer us a different approach as a striker/winger
Bunmiemich
Emenike to Chelsea ??? Oh please... He's just another Yakubu.. Would be good for a team like Stoke or West Ham...
DonDhammih
no to emenike...mou should jst snap up costa nd we have a more physical player like lukaku...
Anifowose Adewale Sa
Does Mourinho want him? If he's a Mourinho guy and would agree to stay on the bench as 3rd choice striker, unlike a certain "complete strike" Lukaku, I'd say sign him up! @DD, Yakubu Aiyegbeni aka The Yak of Everton, Portsmouth and Middlesboro? Lol... Remember his hattrick for 'Boro against us in Mourinho's second season during his first stint with us? If he's as good as The Yak sign him up! Ba? Demba Ba?? Lol... The Yak was better than him! Can Ba run as fast as Emenike? Have you watched both play?
McQuinnChels
@Ani, but Lukaku doesn't want to stay and fight for his place at Chelsea, or does he now? Also, how much does Mourinho rate Lukaku? Go figure! Those who say Ba over Emenike are clueless I'm afraid, because the Senegalese has never been able nor technical enough to work in tight spaces thereby enabling him to create as many chances and assists like the Nigerian who creates and assists goals almost twice as many as he scores. Watch the games fellas and feck stereotypes, damned lies and statistics! This guy is Turkish champion! Ba and Lukaku have NEVER been champions anywhere! I couldn't care less about Emenike but if the scouts are watching as the article says and JM wants him then you'd better watched out.
McQuinnChels
NO Emineke is *****. Don't compare him to Yakubu because Yakubu was a good PL ST. Emineke on the other hand is nothing like Yakubu. He'd just be another ST that plays well but never scores. *cough Heskey Altidore *cough
Humza_96
All power, no style. No to Emenike.
foreign_viewer
anywyas this guy is a team player but so is bony ... its up-to jose now
gary777
GREAT GUY, HIGH WORK RATE WILL DEFINITELY BE A GOOD ADDITION TO CFC.... LUV IT BEEN BLUE IN NATURE
Okenah Omos
Team players in the Nigeria team? Really? All I've seen are greedy players who want to take all the glory.
foreign_viewer
@FV...does that include ur FAV Mikel also???
Blu_run
LOL f_viewer how naïve and clueless?! FYI team players create chances and assists for TEAMMATES! Didn't you see Emenike's assist for Odemwingie's goal?
McQuinnChels
^^does Nigeria have anyone like Messi or Ronaldo in their team? How come they're on the brink of qualification something the so-called "team players" in the English and Spanish squads couldn't muster? or where the hell do you think those sideways passes of Mikel's end up? In the back of the net? #clueless
McQuinnChels
I would love to have Emenike in our club.. biased sentiments you might say. He is powerful, quick and not afraid to shoot from distance (unlike the lot we have now) he is not too different from Demba Ba except that he is stronger and not prone to the "falling fit" like Demba. He is as powerful as lukaku, very fast, and certainly has more technique than Lukaku and a better team player. He can also play on the right wing and his not averse to harwork. With Mourinho as his coach, he would even become better and he would be cheap around 15m. if we are selling lukaku and Ba, Emenike would be an option i will consider. The only other player that would be better in terms of stat would be Bony.. Now that is a striker i would take before Emenike... Sentiments or no Sentiments.
Dwonder
Lets get Mikel to talk to him now.. Like i said earlier, i would prefer Bony; however Swansea aren't going to be letting him leave without us paying some outrageous fee like 30m or thereabouts. This is a guy that scored a good number of goals last season and with the price quoted for Shaw and Llalana, we should expect Swansea to quote a high price. Emenike on the other hand would be a cheaper alternative especially if we sell Ba and Lukaku. He won't be afraid fight for his shirt( cough Lukaku cough), he is powerful and very hardworking, he can play on the wing and also as a striker. You won't hear him complain if he is made the 3rd choice striker.. it will only make him to work harder to gain a spot in the starting 11. I won't mind him as a replacement for the "Complete Striker".
Dwonder
Guys again I bring Jackson Martinez to the table. He will be a fantastic buy. Strong on both feet and head. Typical of JM type striker. Like a bazaar...he's going going........lol
elemzy
i would choose him as a third or second striker for sure considering we lack powerful guys
gary777
Overrated Jackson Martinez. You see Chelsea scrapping the bottom of the barrel again after Willian and Salah?
foreign_viewer
Emenike will run, run, run etc. Enough of those kinds of players. The next striker signing should be able to play at #10 if needed.
foreign_viewer
Exa ctly who do you prefer FV.......just curious. Just give a name or two.
elemzy
Somebody will make such a comment now, 'Lukaku>Martinez or Lukaku>Eminike' etc etc.
BOTUM
how more clueless can you portray yourself huh, f_viewer? Although I've seen him play behind a 'main' striker before, but why should we want to play our striker there when the likes of Oscar, Willian and now Fabregas are jostling for the same space? You mad brau?
McQuinnChels
McQuinnChels reminds me of HGH.....nice to have you back, if im right.
elemzy
if you're right? You couldn't be more wrong mate. Everyone knows HGH is Josh_Mou except you obviously.
McQuinnChels
No for me what the problem is with African players although talented they go missing for a month in the middle of our season to play in the African cup
herefordchelsea
Lukaku us better than Emineke. There's a reason why Emineke is 27 and only ever played in Russia and Turkey. He got 12 goals and 9 assists last season in the TURKISH league. Lukaku got 15 goals and 6 assists playing for Everton in the PL. Plus he's only 21 so has potential. The people who are saying lets get Emineke he'd be a great 3rd choice ST are ridiculous. I think that with Torres/ba/lukaku we have enough players who are 2nd/3rd choice ST material. We need a 1st choice ST not another fkin backup.
Humza_96
*are ridiculously biased
Humza_96
You'll have to be utterly naïve and absolutely clueless or just trolling not to know that the Lukaku we all know doesn't see himself as "2nd/3rd choie ST material" at Chelsea. Or are you ridiculing? LOL
McQuinnChels
If, and only if you are not ridiculing then you'd do well to see what a more serious-minded and "unbiased" onlooker, fan and poster said about Lukaku here: "Even after his somewhat tantalizing pre-season last year, it was obvious that he has a poor first touch and is almost as devoid as Ramires in the passing department. At the WC he hasn't shown any inclination toward understanding movement off the ball or positioning. Right now he's basically a very less technically skilled version of Torres. Size, strength and some speed do not make a footballer."_ @rockhead.
