Chelsea Linked With Another Striker. Not Costa
Reports have surfaced in Turkey suggesting Chelsea Football Club have joined the race for Fenerbahçe striker Emmanuel Emenike.
According to Turkish sports daily Fanatik, the 27-year-old Nigerian international has caught the eyes of Chelsea scouts at the World Cup in Brazil with his impressive technique and imposing physique.
Usual suspects including Arsenal, Tottenham, Juventus and Zenit St Petersburg are also mentioned to be monitoring the big striker's progress at the mundial, and he has previously said his dream is to play in the Premier League.
"I have always dreamed of playing in the Premier League," Emenike said to the Turkish press.
'If I get the opportunity to play in England I wouldn't turn it down."
Emenike has been in impressive form for club and country — 12 goals and 9 assists in 28 Super Lig matches and 9 goals in 24 internationals — and provided the assist for Nigeria's 1-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina to put the West Africans on the brink of qualification for the knockout stage of the World Cup.
A technically gifted and tactically flexible striker who isn't afraid of competition and is comfortable playing out wide, as a lone marksman or just behind a main striker, he would add the vital verve to our attack and deepen a strikeforce which largely flattered to deceive last term.
Thus, if he goes on to impress further in Brazil, it isn't hard to imagine the Chelsea front office snapping up this guy.
For whatever it is worth, this one seems a rather interesting link as Jose Mourinho loves to have big strikers amongst his strikers corps, as such you can trust us to keep you posted on developments if/when they become available.
So Chelsea fans, would you rather have this guy understudy Diego Costa instead of, say, Fernando Torres or Romelu Lukaku?
