Cech`s Farewell!

Cech`s Farewell!

With Thibaut Courtois set to return to Stamford Bridge and with Mark Schwarzer having signed a new one-year deal, could Petr Cech be about to become the fall guy?

It would seem that 32 year-old Cech`s future is far from certain with one leading tabloid inferring that the two French clubs, Monaco and Paris St Germain are keen to land the Czech keeper.

Fuel is added to the fire by remarks, attributed to Cech`s agent, Vicktor Kolar, who has remarked about the situation,

"PSG have shown interest and we`ve communicated with Monaco."

"Nothing changes. He has two years on his contract and has an interest to continue."

"He has a certain salary. Not many clubs could afford to sign him."

"The situation is now evolving but for now he is staying at Chelsea."

However, switching to another tabloid the scenario is slightly different with Kolar predicting that if Cech were deemed surplus to requirements, by Chelsea, then La Liga would be the likely destination with his agent quoted as having remarked,

"If we were to leave, we`re discussing two or three clubs. I would get in touch with Andoni Zubizarreta (Barcelona Sporting Director) ad people at Real Madrid."

So, what is the verdict folks; could we possibly have seen the last appearance by Cech in a Chelsea shirt?

Will it be too much to have Cech-Courtois-Schwarzer holding our goalkeeping department next season?? Cech, we need him to become the goalkeeper with the highest number of clean sheets in the BPL. Courtois, we have been too helpful to his career he needs to return the favor by willing to stay and play with cech around then he can take the reign the following season. While Schwarzer is just our new Hilario - Third choice with fewer appearances. All that is required in this situation is just comprising.

I don't see us having both Courtois and Cech. Neither of them would like to warm the bench. Cech has been a great GK for us but lately his form has been not upto the mark. If a good offer comes then we should sell him. Personal glories can't be put before club's objective. Courtois is in fine form and he should be our new GK.

Agree with Keyser. Club first before Player's Stats and Glory

well, it will be hard on PC or TC to make them sit on bench. So, for everyone best future, we can allow PC to move to his preferred choice, but a fee of 15m-20m is must.

Cech to be sold? That's seems awkward but strange things happen in football. It will be difficult to accommodate Courtois and Big Petr in the same team.

Monaco looks like the only destination for now.... Barca have signed two GK's already, Madrid have Casillas & Lopez, PSG might be interested buh Monaco don't seem to have a GK now especially after Valdes failed the medical.... If Monaco offer us some pretty insane money for cech, i'll say we sell him......

We shouldn't let cech go, there is nothing wrong in having two world class keepers in one team, injuries are not predictable

Romero ain't a world class GK definitely..... They re looking to upgrade.... More reason while they wanted to sign Valdes.......

Cech cannot leave until Courtois signs a new contract that's for sure or we could end up with no goalkeeper in 2 years. However, Chelsea cannot realistically expect either one of them to be bench warmers. They have both achieved too much and are too good for that. If Courtois signs a new deal Chelsea may let him go back to A. Madrid for another year to grease the wheels for some other transfers. This is a very tricking situation no doubt about it.

Courtois isn't going to be loaned again....... He is going to sign a contract extension and stay with Chelsea...... I'm very sure of this......

The only cause of this impasse is Courtois. He is the one who has hiterto refused to sign a contract extension and he is the only one who has said he has a problem with being on the same side as Cech. Cech has repeatedly welcomed the arrival and competition that Courtois brings. As Courtois is (and i think he is already better than Cech) one never knows how a keeper will perfrom in the BPL till they actually start playing in it. David De Gea was a Superstar in La Liga but it took him several years to approach elite level in the BPL. If a club and National legend like Casillas could spend a year splitting goal keeping duties withDeigo Lopez at Real i dont see why Courtois shouldnt do that with Cech for a single transitional year and honestly that is what should be done. If we release Cech without such a transition and a chance for both to actually compete for the starting position we run several dangers; 1. If Courtois doesnt sign an extension in 2yr mark my words he will be heading to Real or Barca or some othe place and we will left looking like Mugs 2. We could find the he underperforms in the BPL ..possibly because of the stark difference in style of play, the increased physicality of attackers in the BPl compared to La Liga or because of the lack of any credible competition. The wise thing to do is the same thing SAF did when he broke De Gea into ManU..ensure for at least the first year he has high level competition to keep him on the top of his game and smooth his adjustment. Finally the matter of Cech being allowed to secure that all time top clean sheets in the BPL laurel is not just a personal thing for Cech it is a huge honor for our club and for a player who has shown so much class, who has been such a great servant, advocate and ambassador of our club it is not too much to ask..what we should not do is because the so called "new big thing" has arrived discard the person who has manned our posts with distinction for almost a decade without even giving him the chance to compete for his position, round up his career with us properly and give him a befitting farewell. We need to tread carefully..Courtois's promise and his feelings are not worth ejecting Cech and leaving our relationship and parting memory of him with a bad taste. Cech has more than earned to be treated with respect and it is well past time Courtois did what was best for Chelsea FC rather than expecting us to continue to stroke his gargantuan ego when he has to date really done squat for our club.
