'If It's Football, It's Vital'

A Fast Turn-Over

It may be just a little over two years since we all enjoyed that marvellous night over in the Allianz Arena, in Munich.

A night when, against all odds, we lifted the Champions League trophy after an epic penalty shoot-out win over Bayern Munich, but times, in that short space of time have certainly changed.

If you look at the starting eleven that Roberto Di Matteo selected, you`ll see that only 4 players remain at the club and one of then, Bertrand, is unlikely to be there come next season.

Furthermore, recalling that enthralling penalty shoot-out when, despite falling behind when Mata missed the first kick, we overcame the Bavarian outfit, we find that all five penalty takers - Mata, Luiz, Lampard, Cole and Luiz have left!

Cech
Bosingwa (Gone)
Cahill
Luiz (Gone)
Cole (Gone)
Mikel
Kalou (Gone)
Mata (Gone)
Lampard (Gone)
Bertrand (Going!)
Drogba (Gone)

However, despite all the changes, I defy you to not shed a few tears when you watch the dramatic final again. It still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand-up when Drogba equalises and Cech saves the penalty from Robben. As for the penalty shoot-out, it remains simply superb and is amongst the best moments of my life.

How about you?

Very much up in the air, but Cech could be gone soon as well.

I rewatched the final yesterday and all I could think when Drogba was walking up to take the 5th penalty was "and here it comes"

Without a doubt it's still the greatest night of my life. And being there to witness it with my son was the icing on the cake. I frequently watch it again.

It's sad but change has been inevitable for some years now. I am sure we are on the way to building yet another marvellous team which will replicate the Munchen nights once again.

I still get jittery when I watch Drogba's penalty, hoping he doesn't miss. It takes me back each time I watch the highlights, tremendous throwback.

What an article! I will never forget that "marvelous'' night. The team Mourinho is building now will be far better than the team that won that Champions league. I remain a BLUE forever. #KTBFFH #CFC

I remember waking up next morning not being able to move, my head was thumping but I had the biggest smile on my face ever. I'd drunk far too much and finished the evening off drinking a bottle of champagne in one go!
